ETIENNE COHEN
Etienne was born in England. On a world trip she became entranced by the natural wonders of Oz. She moved to Sydney and began to paint the colorful birds, animals and flowers. Etienne then lived on a permaculture community in Northern NSW and became conscious of the importance of eco sustainability in Australia.
In 1999 She stayed at Urupuntja Centre in the Northern Territory and painted with the women there. She became aware of how passive technologies and reintroduction of indigenous foods could help the communities and returned to Sydney to document this.
Recently her exhibitions in Paris and London have spread the word to the world about Australias eco consciousness
Etienne has since traveled to the Great Barrier Reef and Western Australia and has celebrated the reemergence of the wildlife there in her paintings. These images are now being made into greeting cards for the enjoyment of all Australians.
The benefits will be seen in the eco programmes of Australian Geographic as 30 cents from the sale of each card goes to help endangered animals.
