On August 12, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had stated that concerns regarding reduction in fuel efficiency are “misplaced” and the alternative of going back to E-0 fuel would “involve losing the hard fought gains” on pollution and energy transition.

On the future of petrol and diesel vehicles amid the government’s push for alternative fuels and electric mobility, Gadkari said, “People keep asking me that you keep supporting all alternative fuels and biofuels. There is confusion in people's minds that there are all types of alternatives now, so what is going to happen (to petrol or diesel vehicles). You need not bother. The demand for petrol and diesel vehicles is still going to increase... because the growth in automobile manufacturing is about 15-20 per cent. The international market is also very huge.”

가드카리는 휘발유 및 경유 차량의 미래에 대해 다음과 같이 말했다. "사람들이 자꾸 묻습니다. 지금 다양한 대안(전기차,수소차 등등)들이 출시 되는데 왜 대체 연료와 바이오연료를 지지하느냐고요.  휘발유와 디젤 차량은 앞으로 어떻게 되는 것인지 혼란스러워하는 겁니다. 하지만 걱정할 필요는 없습니다. 휘발유와 디젤 차량의 수요는 앞으로도 계속 늘어날 것입니다. 자동차 제조업 성장률이 15~20%에 이르고 있으며, 국제 시장 또한 거대한 규모를 유지하고 있기 때문입니다.”
