So the 10-year NBA veteran guard hopes his 16 solid minutes in Friday's game at New Orleans and 14 productive minutes in Saturday's victory over Golden State can be the start of a return to regular playing time in coach Gregg Popovich's rotation.

"I feel I'm at a point of having to earn minutes," Barry said. "I've never been a guy to go to a coach and say, 'I've got to have minutes,' so I'm just trying to work hard in practice and earn my spot back in the rotation.

"Was (Friday) night a start? I hope so. It's like that movie, 'What About Bob?' Baby steps to the elevator ... baby steps to the bathroom."

After playing only 25 minutes in the previous four games, including a season-low two minutes in Wednesday's game against Orlando, Barry got an early call Friday when Devin Brown, who has received most of the backup time at big guard, was struggling.

Barry came in Saturday with 7:53 left in the second period, hit a quick 3-pointer and helped ignite the Spurs' 17-0 run.

"It felt good to get in a rhythm," Barry said. "Heck, it felt good just to come out of a game and be sweating. My shot will come. I know that. But it has to come in the rhythm and flow of a game."

Barry's nickname from his five seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics — "Bones" — finally has been picked up by his new teammates.

"It's starting in this locker room now," he said. "'Leaky' (Malik Rose) has picked up on it, and once he starts, everyone else will follow. That's the kind of guy 'Leaky' is."

Warriors a step slow: Golden State coach Mike Montgomery didn't need long to identify his team's problems.

"If you can't stop people and keep them in front of you on defense," Montgomery said, "you can't win."

The Warriors limited Tim Duncan to 12 points in 27 minutes but struggled to keep both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili out of the lane.

"As a team, we have to get some pride and stop the guy in front of us," Warriors forward Troy Murphy said. "Cliff (Robinson) did a great job of stopping Duncan, and we all have to defend more like that."

Odds 'n' ends: After making only 3 of 11 free throws in Saturday's first half, the Spurs went 11 of 11 in the final two quarters. Brown and Beno Udrih each went 4 for 4 from the foul line in the second half. ... The Spurs handed out 30 assists for the second time in four games. They had a season-high 33 against Cleveland on Dec. 11. For the season, they are averaging 22.88 assists, an increase of more than two per game from last season. ... Duncan has led the Spurs or shared the lead in both scoring and rebounding in 18 of their 24 games this season. He has led in rebounds in every game. ... The Spurs have been outscored 48-32 in the first quarter the past two games. ... There were 12 foreign-born players in the game.

베리가 베테랑인 건 확실하나, 베테랑이더라도 자기 리듬을 찾을 수 있는 출전시간은 필수입니다.

5분씩 찔끔 찔끔 나와서 그 동안 자기 몫을 다 해내란 건 무리거든요.

그런데, 스퍼스가 베리에게 백업 가드 몫을 통째로 맡기기엔 베노와 데빈이 너무 아깝습니다.

저들의 성장도 생각을 해야 되거든요.-_-;

스퍼스가 백업 포가의 출전 시간을 배분하는데 신경을 써야 될 날이 올 줄은 몰랐는데...

가장 깔끔하다고 생각 됐던 건 역시 2년 전이었죠. 파커-잭슨에 스피디-지노.

나름 대로 선발과 벤치가 서로의 약점을 적절하게 보완하는 라인업이었는데...

베리가 살아 나면서, 한 동안 높은 점수를 올려주던 데빈이 또 다시 가라 앉고 있습니다.-_-;

시즌이 끝나면 많이 뛸 수 있는 팀을 찾아 떠날 수도 있고요. 지금 덴버라면 당장 선발로 뛰어도

무방할 정도로 좋은 선수이죠. 잡아야 되는데...-_-;;

베노도 지난 시즌 시에틀의 리드노어가 보여준 모습에 전혀 꿀릴 거 없다란 생각입니다.

현재 루키 랭킹에선 앞서고 있는 데빈 해리스와 비교 해도 경기 운영이나 패스, 농구 센스에

관해선 배노가 앞서 있다고 보고요. 다만 그 얼어죽을 빠른 발 때문에...-_-;

어쨌든 베리가 어제 경기를 기점으로 살아 났으면 좋겠습니다.

어제 파커와 지노가 같이 21점 씩을 기록 하며, 클리포드 로비슨에게 다소 고전한 던컨의 부진을 깔끔하게 메워줬는데요.

스퍼스 리포트에서 파커가 15점 연속 득점을 하였다고 나와서, 깜짝 놀란 마음에 어제 경기를

다시 훑어 보니 11점 연속 득점이더군요.

어쨌든 파커 역시도 시즌 초반에 팀과 뭔가가 안 맞는 듯한 모습을 보이다가, 드디어 본연의 임무인

득점에서 살아나고 있습니다. 하긴 파커가 언제 안정적인 모습을 보인 적이 있었습니까.^^;;

여전히 베리를 트레이드 카드로 쓰자고 생각하는 별천지였습니다.-_-;
