    ▣ 九二 履道坦坦 幽人 貞吉

         구이  이도탄탄  유인  정길

      [풀이]

         [구2]는 밟아 가는 길이 평탄하고 또 평탄할 것이다.

         (세속에 흔들리지 않고) 숨어사는 사람처럼 바르게만 하면 길할 것이다.

        [해설]

          유혹이나 소란에도  끌리지 말고 홀로 당당히 대도를 가야 한다.

          세속에 흔들리지 않고 깊은 산 속에 숨어사는 도인처럼 씩씩하게 가야 할 것이다.

          코앞에서 3이 기다린다.

          어떠한 유혹에도 자신을 팔지 말고, 자신만을 붙잡고, 천하에 둘 없는 수행자처럼 살아가야 한다.

          숨어 사는 사람처럼[幽人,유인] 자신을 단단히 붙잡고 살면 좋다[貞吉,정길],

          그렇다면 그 길은 탄탄[履道坦坦,이도탄탄]할 것이다.

          지금은 바로 그러한 공부를 업으로 삼고 살아야 할 타이밍이다.

          適應(적응)하는 2와 5는 상함이 되지 않는다.

          그렇다고 강한 성질대로, 하나 밖에 없는 소행이다.

          세상은 내 눈에 보이지는 않지만 용서할 수 없는 큰 질서의 톱니바퀴에 물려 돌아가고 있다.

          그러니 3을 향한 자세가 도인처럼, 수행자처럼, 산 속에 숨어사는 은자처럼 가야 한다.

          세상을 보는 강한 의지와 정직도 지녔지만, 인정하는 사람도 없고 동화하는 사람도 없을 때는,

          때를 기다리며 마음 편안하게, 느긋하게, 곰삭혀 나가야 한다.

          세상은 만사만물이 살아 움직이는 생물이다 [生生之易,생생지역].

          그렇지 않으면 无妄(무망)으로 재앙의 꼴을 당할 것이다.

          幽(유)는 큰 산 속에 작은 물생들[幺幺,요요]이 기생하는 학교(감옥)와 같다.

          퇴계는 도산서당을 지으며 '유정문'을 달았고,

          다산은 일찍이 '유인정길'할 은둔처를 그렸고,

          愚伏(우복)은 '이도탄탄'한 벗을 찬했고,

          미지의 세계로 건네주는 뗏목 같은 '爲學之方圖(위학지방도)'도 있다.

        ▣ Nine in the second place[九二,구이] : The path tread is smooth and level.

             If one remains upright and quiet like a recluse, it will bring good fortune.

        [Explanation]

            Nine in the second place[九二,구이] : The path treaded is level and smooth.

            If a recluse maintains integrity(without being swayed by worldly affairs),

            it will bring good fortune.

          [Commentary]

             Onemust walk the great path proudly and along,

             without being led astray by temptations or commotions.

             Without being swayed by worldly affairs, one should proceed courageously like

             a Taoist master living in seclusion deep within the mountains.

             Line 3 awaits right ahead.

             Do not compromise yourself for any temptation;

             hold firm to yourself and live like an matchless practitioner under heaven.

             Holding dirm to oneself like a hermit [幽人,유인]  brings good fortune [貞吉,정길].

             Then, the path one treads will be smooth and level [履道坦坦,이도탄탄].

              Now is precisely the right time to make such self-cultivation one's lifelong dedication.

              Lines 2 and 5, which adapt, do not harm each other.

              Yet, acting purely on a strong temperament is an isolated and singular act.

              Though invisible to the eyes, the world operates engaged in the grand gearwheels

               of an unforgiving order.

               Therefore, one's attitude toward Line 3 must proceed like a master,

                a practitioner, or a hermit hidden in the mountains.

                Though possessing a strong will and integrity to view the world, 

                when no one recognizes or resonates with you, you must wait for the right time with a calm,

                patient, and reflective mind.

                The world is a living entity where all things continuously come to life [生生之易,생생지역].

                 Otherwise, one will suffer disaster through thoughtlessness/imprudence(无妄,무망)..

                'Yu(幽,유)' is like a school(or prison) where small creatures [幺幺,요요] depend

                 on a large mountain.

                 Toegye built Dosan Seodang and installed the 'Yujeongmun' gate,

                 Dasan early on envisioned a secluded retreat to practice 'Yuin-jeonggil'(a hermit remaining

                 upright for good fortune),

                 Ubok(愚伏,우복) praised a friend whose path was smooth and level (履道坦坦,이도탄탄),

                 And there is also 'Wihakjibangdo (爲學之方圖,위학지방도 - Map of the Way of Learning),

                 which acts as a raft guiding one into the unknown world.
