레알 마드리드 회장 후보인 플로렌티노 페레즈가 세계 이적 기록액  £80m을 실현시킬 가능성을 암시한 후
크리스티아노 로날도 미래를 둘러싼 혼동이 더욱 커질 전망이다.

그러나 페레즈가 리버풀 미드필더 사비 알론소, 카카 그리고 프랭크 리베리 포함 그의 우선 타겟들 중
로날도를 최우선으로 놓을 돈을 마련하지 못한다면, 맨체스터 유나이티드 공격수가 뉴 갈락티코에 합류할 가능성은
줄어들 것으로 보인다.

타임즈는 어제, 다음달 공식적으로 있을 레알 회장 선출 후보인 페레즈가 바이에른 뮌헨으로 부터 리베리를 영입하기 위한
£40m 경쟁에서 첼시를 이겼다고 보도하였었다.

그는 또한 리버풀로 부터 알론소를 약 £19m에, AC밀란으로 부터 카카를, 발렌시아로 부터 다비드 비야를 영입하기 위한
거래를 완료할 것으로 기대하고 있다. - 비록 이러한 선수들 소속 클럽들은 아직 거래 제의를 받지 못하였는데
- 이 중에서 로날도 영입을 위한 수백만 파운드 거래가 가장 불투명해 보여 왔다.

24세의 로날도는 페레즈가 그를 뺀 계획을 짜 왔음을 수 주 동안 알고 있었고
이번 주 바르셀로나를 상대하는 챔스 결승 날짜가 다가왔을 때 유나이티드 공격수는 마드리드 보다는 맨체스터 유나이티드에
그의 가까운 미래가 있다고 분명히 밝힌 바 있다.

하지만, 로마에서 바르셀로나에 2-0으로 패하자 로날도는 결과 뿐만 아니라
그에게 주어진 포지션역에 불만족스러워하며 또 다른 자기성찰 시기로 이끌었다.

유나이티드 감독 알렉스 퍼거슨은 특히 웨인 루니의 지원을 거의 받지 못한 단독 공격수로 만들었다.

새로 불거진 로날도 미래 불안정은, 포르투갈인 공격수가 ' 레알 마드리드에 온다면 아주 좋을 것이다' 라고 어제 말한
페레즈의 관심을 불러 왔다.
더욱 흥미로운 것은 페레즈가 예전 회장인 로만 칼데론과 로날도의 에이전트 조르지 멘데스 사이에 있었던
이번 여름 £80m에 포르투갈인 공격수가 마드리드로 간다는 지난 시즌 합의를 언급하였다는 점이다.

페레즈는 그 자신의 영입 목표를 밝히지 않겠다고 했지만 어제 그가 다음과 말했다.
" 다음 주 우리는 그 수를 알아볼 것이고 우리가 조력가들과 함께 엄청난 프로젝트를 만들 것이라는 점에는 의심의 여지가 없습니다. "

페레즈는 적어도 유나이티드에 문의를 해 볼 것 같지만 소식통들은 지난 여름 칼데론이 제안했던 액수 가까이 갈 의도가
없을 거라고 지적하였다.

나름, 유나이티드는 계약을 3년 남겨 놓고 있는 선수의 평가액을 떨어 뜨릴 의도가 없을 것이다.
만약, 로날도를 팔아야 한다면, 퍼거슨은 리베리 영입을 고려할 지도 모르는데,
레알 마드리드가 로날도 영입을 위한 유리한 협상카드로 사용할 요령으로 프랑스인 공격수 영입 거래를 타진해왔다는
음모 이론이 나왔으나 그러한 이론들은 올드 트래포드 임원들에 의해 즉시 부정되어 왔었다.

페레즈는 챔스, 라 리가, 국왕컵 우승을 이룬 바르셀로나에 가려진 레알을 다시 부상시킬 수 있는 최고의 팀으로
조합하기로 다짐하였다.
" 우리는 만회해야 합니다. 나는 현재 선수 대부분이 새로운 프로젝트에 마드리드로 오고 싶어할 것이라고 확신합니다. "
페레즈가 말하였다.

레알은 , 후안데 라모스 후임 후보로 아스날 감독 아센 벵거를 일전에 밝힌데 이어
비야레알의 미구엘 페예그리니를 팀 감독으로 영입에 나설 것으로 예상된다.

리버풀 감독 라파엘 베니테즈는 그가 아스톤 빌라의 가레스 배리 영입 제안에 새로이 나설 지라도 알론소 판매에 절대 반대이지만
이 스페인 미드필더는 지난 여름 그를 유벤투스로 팔려 했던 클럽에 상처를 입어 레알 마드리드 이적에
관심이 있는 것으로 알려지고 있다.

베르나뷰에 선수들 유입이 있을 것으로 예상됨에 따라
유나이티드 출신 선수들인 수비수 가브리엘 에인세와 스트라이커 루드 반 니스텔루이 뿐만 아니라
네덜란드 미드필더들인 스네이더와 반 데 바르트 이적 가능성이 높아졌다.

Cristiano Ronaldo's confusion over his future is likely to increase after Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid's president-elect, suggested that he would look into the feasibility of reviving a world-record £80million transfer. However, the Manchester United forward's prospects of joining the latest galácticos project appear slim unless Pérez can find the money to sign him on top of his principal targets, which include Xabi Alonso, the Liverpool midfield player, Kaká and Franck Ribéry.

The Times revealed yesterday that Pérez, whose election as Real's president next month is a formality, has beaten off competition from Chelsea to set up a £40million deal to sign Ribéry from Bayern Munich.

He also expects to complete deals to sign Alonso from Liverpool for about £19million, Kaká from AC Milan and David Villa from Valencia - even if the players' respective clubs have not yet been approached - all of which has left a multimillion-pound deal for Ronaldo appearing highly unlikely.

Ronaldo, 24, has been aware for several weeks that Pérez has been making plans without him and, as this week's Champions League final against Barcelona approached, the United forward was as unequivocal as he has ever been in stating that his immediate future lies in Manchester rather than Madrid. The chastening 2-0 defeat by Barcelona in Rome, however, has led to another period of soul-searching, with Ronaldo unhappy not only with the result but with the role that he was given by

Sir Alex Ferguson, the United manager, as a lone striker with scant support from Wayne Rooney, in particular.

Ronaldo's renewed unrest has been brought to the attention of Pérez, who said yesterday that the Portugal forward “would be very good if he came to Real Madrid”. More interestingly, Pérez made reference to an agreement drawn up last year between Ramón Calderón, the former president, and Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo's agent, to take the Portugal forward to Madrid this summer for a fee of £80million.

That is an agreement that Pérez had indicated he had no intention of taking on, having identified targets of his own, but yesterday he said: “Next week we will look at the numbers and nobody should doubt that we are going to design with our sporting advisers a spectacular project.”

The likelihood is that Pérez will at least make an inquiry to United, but sources have indicated that he would have no intention of going anywhere near the figure that Calderón had floated last summer.

United, for their part, would have little cause to drop their valuation of a player who has three years remaining on his contract. Ferguson would consider bidding for Ribéry if they were forced to sell Ronaldo, which has raised conspiracy theories that Real have lined up a deal for the France forward with a view to using him as a bargaining chip to sign Ronaldo, but such theories have been dismissed out of hand by officials at Old Trafford.

Pérez is determined to assemble the best team he can as Real attempt to re-emerge from the substantial shadow cast by Barcelona, who have added the Champions League to their La Liga title and Spanish Cup. “We need to catch up and I'm sure that now the majority of the players are going to want to come to Madrid, to a new project,” Pérez said.

Real are expected to recruit Manuel Pellegrini from Villarreal to coach the team, having earlier identified Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager, as a contender to replace Juande Ramos.

Rafael Benítez, the Liverpool manager, is fiercely opposed to selling Alonso - no matter that he is discussing a renewed bid to sign Gareth Barry from Aston Villa - but the Spain midfield player is understood to be tempted by a move to Madrid, having been hurt by the club's attempt to sell him to Juventus last summer.

The expected influx of players at the Bernabéu has raised the possibility of Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart, the Holland midfield players, being made available for transfer, as well as two former United players, Gabriel Heinze, the defender, and Ruud van Nistelrooy, the striker.
