...하고 냉정하게 돌아서려 했는데, 남의 땅에서 얼마나 마음 급하고 발 동동 구르실까 싶어서, 이렇게 번역을 했습니다. 물론 매끄럽지는 않습니다만, 이해하실 정도는 될 겁니다.

Under the EU Nickel Directive 94/27/EC, the less severe wear and corrosion pre-treatment
method, EN 12472:2005 will now be used to test coated metallic materials in jewellery, piercings,
watches, rivets and zippers on garments and similar items with direct, prolonged skin contact.
EU 의 니켈 지침 94/27/EC 에 따라, 좀 덜 엄격한 마모 및 부식의 전처리 방식인 EN 12472:2005 가 이제는 피부에 직접 오랫동안 닿는 보석류, 피어싱, 시계, 리벳, 옷에 부착된 지퍼 및 유사한 물품들에 포함된 코팅된 금속 재료들을 테스트하는 데 사용된다.


This “new” wear and corrosion standard EN 12472:2005 simulates two years wear of coated items under normal use. During this time the non-nickel protective coating may be worn away,
potentially allowing the release of nickel from the metallic substrate beneath. After the wear and
corrosion pre-treatment, coated items are assessed for nickel release by the EN 1811 extraction method for 7 days into perspiration simulant, as used directly for uncoated metallic materials.
이 “새로운” 마모 및 부식 표준인 EN 12472:2005 는 일반적인 사용 상태에서의 코팅된 제품의 마모 상태를 실험한다. 이 시간 동안 니켈 보호 코팅을 하지 않은 제품들은 닳아서, 잠재적으로 그 아래의 금속 기질로부터 니켈이 유출될 수도 있다. 마모 및 부식 대비 전처리를 하고 나면, 코팅된 제품들은EN 1811 추출 방식에 의해 7일 동안, 코팅되지 않은 금속 재료들에 직접적으로 사용한 것처럼, 발한 모의장치 속에서 니켈 유출 상태를 평가받는다.


National legislation listing these official nickel release test methods will now have to be updated.
For example, revised UK Nickel Regulations are expected in the next 3 to 6 months.
이 공식적인 니켈 유출 테스트 방식을 국가에서 적법하게 리스팅하는 것이 곧 업데이트 될 것이다. 예를 들어, 수정된 영국 니켈 규정은 향후 3개월에서 6개월 내 나올 예정이다.


EN 12472:2005 was published by CEN in December 2005 and has now become a harmonized
standard under the Nickel Directive 94/27/EC, as amended, with from 15 March 2007, when its
reference was published in the European Union’s Official Journal1. A transition period has not
been defined, but coated materials that complied with the earlier EN 12472:1998 should comply
with this less severe wear test.
EN 12472:2005 는 2005년 12월 CEN 에 의해 발표되었고2007년 3월 15일 그 준거가 European Union’s Official Journal1 발표되었을 때부터 수정된 니켈 지침 94/27/EC 하에서 잘 조화를 이루는 표준으로써 작용하고 있다. 추이 기간(우리말이 생각 안나네요…왜 그, 법령 공포해 놓고 사람들이 알 수 있게 유예 기간을 두는 것…)은 정해지지 않았으나 전의 EN 12472:1998 에 맞추었던 코팅된 재료들은 덜 엄격한 마모 테스트에 맞추어야 한다.


Originally EN 12472:1998 was the harmonized the wear and corrosion method under the Nickel
Directive. For the 1998 method, the wear test required the metallic material to be tumbled for 4
hours with hard sintered corundum abrasive chips. However the current 2005 standard offers a
milder wear test, using an abrasive paste containing quartz powder and finely ground nutshells to replace the hard chips, and a tumbling period of 5 hours.
EN 12472:1998 는 초기에 니켈 지침에 맞는 마모 및 부식 방식이었다. 1998 방식에 의하면, 마모 테스트는 금속 재료들을 4시간 동안 단단한 소괴 금강사 연마제 칩 속에서 굴릴 것을 요구했다. 그러나 현재의 2005 표준은 쿼츠 파우더와 하드 칩을 대신할 잘게 간 견과류의 껍질을 함유한 마모 페이스트를 사용하고, 굴리는 시간은 5시간을 요구하는 좀 더 부드러운(느슨한?) 마모 테스트를 제공한다.


Nickel release is restricted in the EU due to the high rate of nickel sensitivity (estimated to affect
10% to 20% of the European female population and 5% of the male population) and severity of
some of its allergic reactions. Hence the Nickel Directive 94/27/EC, as amended, sets maximum
rates of nickel release of 0.2 μg/cm²/week for ear and body piercing post assemblies inserted into the wound during epithelization, and 0.5 μg/cm²/week for other products intended to come into direct, prolonged skin contact.
니켈 유출은 유럽 연합에서 니켈에의 노출도가 과하게 높다는 이유와(유럽 여성들의 10~20%, 남성들의 5% 정도가 노출되어 있는 것으로 추정) 몇몇 알레르기 반응의 심각성 때문에 제한되고 있다. 따라서 수정된 니켈 지침 94/27/EC 는 니켈 유출 최대 허용치를 귀나 몸에 사용하는 상피 조직이 복구 되는 동안 상처에 넣는 피어싱 후 부품들에서 주당 0.2 μg/cm², 그리고 피부에 직접, 오랫동안 닿는 다른 제품들에 대해서는0.5 μg/cm²로 규정했다.
