20260307, 흔치 않은 만남 The Rare Encounter

금요일 장마당사역에서 지나치는 한 백인을 여행 중인가 불러 세웠다.

알고 보니 투바시티 장로교회에서 사역을 시작한 목사.

간단한 인사와 연락처 교환.

헤어진 지 얼마 되지 않아 만나서 반가웠다는 문자연락이 왔다.

토요일 만날 수 없는지 묻고 오후 다섯 시 동네 식당에서 만나기로 약속.

토요일 오후에 약속대로 만나서 식사하며 어찌된 일인지 피차의 현황을 나눴다.

피차에 앞으로 더 많이 알아갈 기회가 있겠지만 나름 네 시간 동안 약간의 기본적인 신상과 현황을 나눴다.

드문 기회 드문 만남의 땅.

그러나 그럴수록 그 만남이 때로는 섭리일 수 있다는 것을 잘 알고 있다.

내가 처음 이곳에 왔을 때의 감상이 되살아나는 시간이다.

그게 14년 전의 일이다.

그리고 나는 이렇게 이곳을 찾은 사람을 만난 것이다.

그의 삶과 섬김을 지금까지 인도하신 하나님께서 그의 앞날에도 함께 하시며 인도하시고 지켜주시고 공급해 주시기를, 그래서 우리가 작은 부분일지라도 하나님의 역사에 순종할 수 있기를 간절히 기도한다.

On Friday, I stopped a white man who was passing by asking if he was traveling in the outdoor market where I serve free acupuncture.

Found out that he is a pastor who started his ministry recently at the Tuba City First Presbyterian Church, where I used to be heavily involved in.

We shared a simple greeting and contact information.

Not long after we were departed, I got a text message from him saying it was a nice meeting.

I asked in my reply if we can meet and chat on Saturday, and agreed to meet at the local restaurant at 5 p.m.

As we met and ate together on Saturday afternoon, we shared current situations to each other.

There will be opportunities to learn more about ourselves in the future, but we spent good four hours sharing some basic personal and ministerial currents.

It's a land of rare encounter and rare chance.

It can be, therefore, more meaningful, even God-led, as less as the chances are.

The meeting reminded my own experience of coming here at the first time.

It was 14 years ago.

And I now am meeting a man who newly arrived here as I did.

May God, who has guided his life and service so far, be with him in the future, guiding, protecting, and supplying him, so that we may together serve God's cause even if it might be a small part.
