Robert de Visée (1652–1730) was a French baroque composer, guitarist, lutenist, and theorbist. He served as a musician in the court of Louis XIV, where he taught the king guitar and performed regularly. His works include compositions for guitar, theorbo, and lute, often organized into suites.
The Pièces en sol mineur (Pieces in G minor) are part of his repertoire and include movements like preludes, allemandes, sarabandes, gavottes, and gigues. These pieces exemplify the elegance and refinement of French baroque music. They are featured in collections such as Pièces de théorbe et de luth (1716) and have been adapted for modern performances on classical guitar and theorbo.
