에베소서 2:1–5

너희의 허물과 죄로 죽었던 너희를 살리셨도다 그 때에 너희가 그 가운데서 행하여 이 세상 풍속을 좇고 공중의 권세 잡은 자를 따랐으니 곧 지금 불순종의 아들들 가운데서 역사하는 영이라 전에는 우리도 다 그 가운데서 우리 육체의 욕심을 따라 지내며 육체와 마음의 원하는 것을 하여 다른이들과 같이 본질상 진노의 자녀이었더니 긍휼에 풍성하신 하나님이 우리를 사랑하신 그 큰 사랑을 인하여 허물로 죽은 우리를 그리스도와 함께 살리셨고 (너희가 은혜로 구원을 얻은 것이라)

예수 그리스도를 알지 못했을 때, 모든 사람은 육체의 욕심을 따라 살았습니다. 세상의 풍속을 따르고 육체와 마음이 원하는 대로 살았기 때문에 모두가 본질상 하나님의 진노 아래 있는 자녀들이었습니다.

그러나 예수 그리스도께서 인류의 죄를 대신하여 십자가에서 죽으셨습니다. 누구든지 예수 그리스도를 구원자로 영접하고 죄를 회개하면 예수님의 피로 죄를 용서받습니다. 이것이 죄에서 구속받는 것입니다.

이것은 인간의 선행이나 공로로 이루어지는 것이 아닙니다. 오직 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에서 흘리신 피의 은혜로 이루어지는 것입니다. 전적으로 주님의 은혜입니다.

하나님은 죄를 반드시 심판하시는 절대적으로 의로우신 분이십니다. 그러나 긍휼과 사랑이 풍성하신 하나님께서 친히 인간의 육체를 입고 이 세상에 오셔서 인간들의 죄를 대신하여 십자가에서 죽으셨습니다.

영이신 하나님께서 아들 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 이 세상에 오셔서 자신의 피로 인간들의 죄를 구속하시고, 죄로 죽었던 자들에게 새 생명을 주신 것입니다.

그러므로 어떤 인간도 하나님 앞에서 자신을 자랑할 수 없습니다. 오직 예수 그리스도의 희생과 공로로 죄에서 구속받고 새 생명을 얻었기 때문입니다.

우리는 모두 주님의 크신 은혜에 감사해야 합니다. 그렇다면 새 생명을 주신 주님의 은혜에 감사하는 방법은 무엇입니까?

그것은 주님의 말씀에 순종하는 것입니다. 그리고 가장 먼저 순종해야 할 것은 자신의 죄를 깨닫고 회개하며, 그 죄를 버리는 것입니다.

에베소서 2:9–10

행위에서 난 것이 아니니 이는 누구든지 자랑치 못하게 함이니라 우리는 그의 만드신바라 그리스도 예수 안에서 선한 일을 위하여 지으심을 받은 자니 이 일은 하나님이 전에 예비하사 우리로 그 가운데서 행하게 하려 하심이니라

하나님께서 인간을 창조하신 근본적인 목적이 있습니다. 하나님은 인간에게 자유의지를 주시고, 하나님의 뜻에 순종하며 선한 일을 행하도록 창조하셨습니다.

그러나 인간들은 하나님의 뜻을 거역하고 죄를 선택하였습니다. 그 결과 하나님과의 관계가 끊어지고 영적으로 죽은 자들이 되었습니다.

그런데 사랑과 긍휼이 풍성하신 하나님께서 자신의 생명을 희생하시고, 죄로 죽었던 인간들을 다시 살려 주신 것입니다.

그러므로 예수 그리스도의 피로 죄를 용서받고 새 생명을 얻은 자들은 하나님께서 인간을 창조하신 본래의 목적으로 돌아가야 합니다.

악한 삶을 버리고 선한 삶으로 돌이켜야 합니다. 육체의 욕심을 따라 살던 옛사람을 버리고, 하나님의 말씀에 순종하는 새로운 삶을 살아야 합니다.

자신을 자랑하지 말고 모든 영광을 주님께 돌려야 합니다. 서로 미워하지 말고 용서하며, 이웃을 사랑하고 선한 일을 행해야 합니다.

이것이 하나님께서 우리를 죄에서 구속하시고 새 생명을 주신 목적입니다.

그러나 예수 그리스도의 피로 죄를 용서받았다고 하면서도 계속해서 육체의 욕심을 따르고, 죄를 회개하지 않으며, 하나님의 말씀에 순종하지 않는다면 어떻게 되겠습니까?

그것은 자신을 구속하신 주님의 은혜를 헛되게 만드는 것입니다.

새 생명을 얻은 목적을 잃어버리고 죄악의 길로 다시 돌아가는 자는 결국 영원한 생명을 잃고 지옥에 들어가게 되는 것입니다.

그러므로 우리는 예수 그리스도의 피로 죄를 용서받은 은혜에 항상 감사하며, 날마다 자신의 죄를 회개하고 하나님의 말씀에 순종해야 합니다.

주님께서 우리에게 새 생명을 주신 목적을 잊지 말아야 합니다. 서로 용서하고 사랑하며 선한 일을 행하는 것이 새 생명을 받은 그리스도인의 마땅한 삶입니다.

우리 모두 주님의 은혜를 헛되게 하지 말고, 끝까지 회개와 순종의 길을 걸어 영원한 천국에 들어가는 자들이 되어야 합니다.

Ephesians 2:1–5

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” (NIV)

Before we came to know Jesus Christ, we all lived according to the desires of our flesh. We followed the ways of this world and lived according to the desires of our flesh and minds. Therefore, we were all by nature under the wrath of God.

However, Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the price for the sins of all humanity. Whoever accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior and repents of their sins receives forgiveness through His blood. This is what it means to be redeemed from sin.

This redemption is not accomplished through human good deeds or merits. It is accomplished solely through the grace of the blood that Jesus Christ shed on the cross. It is entirely by the grace of the Lord.

God is absolutely righteous, and He certainly judges sin. Yet God, who is rich in mercy and love, personally came into this world in human flesh and died on the cross to pay the price for the sins of humanity.

God, who is Spirit, came into this world as the Son, Jesus Christ. Through His own blood, He redeemed humanity from sin and gave new life to those who had been spiritually dead because of their sins.

Therefore, no human being can boast before God. We have been redeemed from sin and received new life solely through the sacrifice and merits of Jesus Christ.

We must all be thankful for the great grace of the Lord. Then how should we express our gratitude for the new life He has given us?

We express our gratitude by obeying the words of the Lord. And the first thing we must do in obedience is recognize our sins, repent of them, and turn away from them.

Ephesians 2:9–10

“Not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (NIV)

God had a fundamental purpose in creating human beings. He gave humanity free will and created us to obey His will and do good works.

However, human beings rebelled against God's will and chose sin. As a result, their relationship with God was broken, and they became spiritually dead.

Yet God, who is rich in love and mercy, sacrificed His own life to bring humanity, who had been dead in sin, back to life.

Therefore, those who have received forgiveness of sins through the blood of Jesus Christ and have been given new life must return to God's original purpose for creating humanity.

We must abandon our sinful lives and turn to lives of righteousness and goodness. We must put away our old selves, who lived according to the desires of the flesh, and begin living new lives in obedience to the Word of God.

We must not boast about ourselves but give all glory to the Lord. We must not hate one another but forgive one another, love our neighbors, and do good works.

This is the purpose for which God redeemed us from sin and gave us new life.

But what will happen if someone claims to have received forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ yet continues to follow the desires of the flesh, refuses to repent of sin, and does not obey the Word of God?

Such a person makes the grace of the Lord, who redeemed them, of no effect in their life.

Those who lose sight of the purpose for which they received new life and return to a life of sin will ultimately lose eternal life and enter hell.

Therefore, we must always be thankful for the grace of having our sins forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ. We must repent of our sins every day and obey the Word of God.

We must never forget the purpose for which the Lord gave us new life. Forgiving one another, loving one another, and doing good works are the proper way of life for Christians who have received new life.

May we all never let the grace of the Lord be in vain, but continue walking the path of repentance and obedience until the end, so that we may enter the eternal kingdom of heaven.
