<H1>SPL players 'lack physique' to compete in England </H1>Sunderland assistant manager Eric Black has revealed that the Black Cats have no intention of sending their talent scouts to SPL matches because they believe Scottish footballers lack the height, pace and physique to compete at the highest level in England. </DIV>

<P>Black, the former Aberdeen and Scotland striker, who followed Steve Bruce to the Stadium of Light after working under him at Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic, claims that his compatriots will be given a wide berth by the Wearside club. </P>
<P>“Players playing in England are usually bigger, stronger and faster than those in Scotland,” he said. “I mean no disrespect whatsoever to Scottish players as I know there are some fine footballers in the SPL. </P>

<P>“But this, as I keep saying, is a league in which you have to take in players who are equipped in all ways in order to compete. </P>
<P>“Talent is merely one facet of a player’s make-up required to make the grade in England. </P>
<P>“Height, pace and power are all needed in equal measure and so few Scots possess all the required qualities to survive.” </P>
<P>The only Scots at Sunderland are goalkeeper Craig Gordon, who was in and out of the side last season, and defender Russell Anderson, a transfer target for newly-promoted Burnley. </P>
<P>Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher was the only member of George Burley’s Scotland side to feature regularly in the top flight last season, a fact which doesn’t surprise Black. </P>
<P>“In the English Premier League today you need to replace outgoing players with new ones who are both experienced and good enough to do the necessary job for the team straight away,” he said. </P>
<P>“You need special players who have, apart from skill, speed and ability, the right kind of character and mentality. They need to be mentally and physically tough â “ England’s Premier League is a physical league. </P>
<P>“They need, ideally, to be big, strong and quick. The Premier League is about speed, so they need to be able to pass the ball and receive it quickly and use it effectively.” </P>

호주의 스캇 맥도날드 SPL에서는 07-08 시즌때 리그에서만 25골 6어시(참고로 당시 같은팀 나카무라 슌스케는 6골 6어시)하며 득점왕 하고...이번시즌에도 득점 2위에 어시도 리그에서만 7개나 했는데...완전 스코틀랜드리그 평정하고 있는 선수라 오늘 기대 많이 했것만...오늘 일본전 후반 교체로 나와 플레이 하는거 보니까 이거 영..-_-;; 지난번에도 선발로 나와서 부진하던데...3차 예선 부터 해서 무득점..-_-;; 스코틀랜드 리그 수준에 솔직히 좀 실망했음..
첫댓글 평소에 관심도 없는 스코틀랜드 리그 수준에 대해 , 오늘 몇몇 분들의 과대 해석이 심한 거 같아 현지 전문가는 어떻게 생각하는지 올려봅니다.

일본애들도 J리그보다 나을게 없다고 무시하는 SPL.
