에베소서 2:19–22

그러므로 이제부터 너희가 외인도 아니요 손도 아니요 오직 성도들과 동일한 시민이요 하나님의 권속이라 너희는 사도들과 선지자들의 터 위에 세우심을 입은 자라 그리스도 예수께서 친히 모퉁잇돌이 되셨느니라 그의 안에서 건물마다 서로 연결하여 주 안에서 성전이 되어 가고 너희도 성령 안에서 하나님의 거하실 처소가 되기 위하여 예수 안에서 함께 지어져 가느니라.

구약 시대에는 이스라엘 민족만 하나님의 백성으로 인정받았습니다. 그러나 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하심으로 말미암아 온 인류의 죄를 속량하신 것입니다.그러므로 이방인들도 예수 그리스도를 구원자로 영접하면 모두 하나님의 권속이 되는 것입니다.

예수님을 영접한 이방인들도 이스라엘 백성과 동일하게 사도들과 선지자들의 터 위에 믿음을 세우는 것이다.모든 사람은 동일하신 창조주 하나님을 유일한 구원자로 믿어야 하는 것입니다. 창조주 하나님 외에는 다른 구원자가 없기 때문이다.오직 창조주 하나님 한 분만이 죄를 회개하고 순종하는 자들을 구원하시고, 불순종하며 회개하지 않는 자를 심판하시는 것입니다.

예수님은 성전의 기초가 되는 모퉁잇돌이십니다. 성전 건물은 반드시 그 기초석 위에 세워져야 한다.이처럼 우리의 믿음도 예수님의 말씀을 기초로 하여 세워져야 합니다. 인간의 사상과 이론과 교리 위에 믿음의 집을 짓는 자는 모래 위에 집을 지은 사람처럼 결국 무너지고 맙니다.

성전 안에는 예수님께서 거하십니다. 이는 예수님을 믿는 우리의 마음에 성령께서 오셔서 거하신다는 뜻입니다.성전을 건축하는 데에는 오랜 시간이 걸립니다. 이처럼 예수님을 한 번 구원자로 영접했다고 해서 곧바로 천국에 들어갈 수 있는 온전한 믿음을 갖추게 되는 것은 아닙니다.

예수님의 말씀에 순종하고 자신의 죄를 회개하는 훈련을 지속적으로 받아야 합니다. 이러한 영적인 훈련을 통해 우리의 마음과 행실이 점점 예수 그리스도를 닮아가야 하는 것입니다.영적인 훈련을 받지 않는 사람은 자신의 마음에 성전을 건축하지 않는 사람과 같습니다.

마음에 성령을 모시지 않고 살다가 죽는 교인들은 결코 천국에 들어가지 못합니다.

오랫동안 교회에 다녔을지라도 그 마음에 예수님께서 거하지 않으시면, 여전히 사탄의 지배 아래에서 살다가 결국 지옥에 들어가게 되는 것입니다.

그러므로 우리는 이 세상에 사는 동안 끊임없이 회개하고 예수님의 말씀에 순종해야 합니다. 그리하여 우리의 마음이 성령으로 충만해지고, 예수님께서 평안히 거하실 수 있는 거룩한 성전으로 날마다 지어져 가야 하는 것입니다.

Ephesians 2:19–22

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

In the Old Testament era, only the people of Israel were recognized as God's people. However, through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection, He redeemed the sins of all humanity.

Therefore, Gentiles who receive Jesus Christ as their Savior also become members of God's household.

Gentiles who receive Jesus must build their faith on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, just as the people of Israel do.

All people must believe in the same Creator God as their only Savior. This is because there is no other Savior besides the Creator God.

Only the one Creator God saves those who repent of their sins and obey Him, and judges those who disobey Him and refuse to repent.

Jesus is the cornerstone that forms the foundation of the temple. The temple must be built upon this foundation stone.

Likewise, our faith must be built upon the foundation of Jesus' teachings. Those who build their house of faith upon human ideas, theories, and doctrines will eventually fall, just like a house built on sand.

Jesus dwells in the temple. This means that the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in the hearts of those of us who believe in Jesus.

Building a temple takes a long time. Likewise, receiving Jesus as our Savior once does not mean that we immediately possess the mature faith necessary to enter the kingdom of heaven.

We must continually train ourselves to obey the teachings of Jesus and repent of our sins. Through this spiritual training, our hearts and actions must gradually become more like those of Jesus Christ.

Those who do not undergo spiritual training are like people who do not build a temple in their hearts.

Church members who live and die without the Holy Spirit dwelling in their hearts will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Even if they have attended church for many years, if Jesus does not dwell in their hearts, they remain under Satan's control and will eventually go to hell.

Therefore, as long as we live in this world, we must continually repent of our sins and obey the teachings of Jesus.

In this way, our hearts must be filled with the Holy Spirit and be built up day by day into a holy temple where Jesus can dwell in peace.
