Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari recently said that India has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 73.6 million metric tonnes due to the adoption of 20 per cent ethanol blending in petrol. He made the statement while replying to supplementary questions during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha.

Describing ethanol as a green fuel, the minister said it plays a key role in reducing pollution while also supporting higher incomes for farmers. He underlined that ethanol blending contributes both to environmental sustainability and rural economic growth.
장관은 에탄올을 친환경 연료라고 설명하며, 오염 감소에 중요한 역할을 할 뿐만 아니라 농민 소득 증대에도 기여한다고 말했다. 그는 에탄올 혼합이 환경 지속가능성과 농촌 경제 성장에 모두 도움이 된다고 강조했다.

Nitin Gadkari also pointed out that India currently imports fossil fuels worth around Rs 22 trillion annually. He said reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels is essential for the country to achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation.

니틴 가드카리는 또한 인도가 현재 연간 약 22조 루피 상당의 화석 연료를 수입하고 있다고 지적하며, 선진국으로 도약하려는 국가적 목표를 달성하기 위해서는 화석 연료 수입 의존도를 줄이는 것이 필수적이라고 강조했다.
