더불어민주당이 전남광주 통합특별시장 후보로 민형배 의원을 선출했다.

소병훈 민주당 중앙당 선거관리위원장은 14일 서울 여의도 중앙당사에서 전남광주 통합특별시장 후보 결선 투표 결과 민 의원이 선출됐다고 밝혔다. 소 위원장은 "후보자별 득표율은 공개하지 않는다"고 했다.

민주당은 권리당원 투표 50%, 시민 여론조사 50%를 합산하는 방식으로 결선 투표를 진행했다. 경선에서는 민 의원과 전남지사가 결선까지 올라 경쟁했지만 결국 민 의원이 첫 전남광주 통합특별시장 도전장을 얻게 됐다.
