Habitual sins that lead to hell and sins arising from immaturity.<Summary
<John 12:1–8>. 2026.10.4. <Sunday> Pastor Kim Ho-il, Osaka Sarang Community Church.
Jesus’ disciples, having heard the message that the kingdom of heaven was near, believed in Jesus and served and obeyed Him as their King and Master. Although the disciples were born again, they were still immature and sometimes became jealous and quarreled. But among the disciples, Jesus said that Judas was a thief. It means that you are committing a habitual sin. So I said it might have been better that I hadn't been born. Other disciples also committed habitual sins until they were mature, but those sins did not lead them to hell.
There are habitual sins that lead one to hell, and immature sins that do not. Great sin and small sin. There are grave sins and minor sins. If one habitually commits great and grave sins, they will face destruction and enter hell. Therefore, we must understand the sin that Jesus emphasized.
1> Habitual anger and swearing. This is the sin we commit most easily. The Old Testament says that anyone who kills will be judged and thrown into hell, but Jesus said that those who are angry with their brother—those who insult him or dismiss him as a fool—will also be judged and thrown into hell. Therefore, we must not take sin lightly but repent. Of course, there are people who are very angry. There are also those whose mouths are rough and who use a lot of profanity.
All of these sins must be repented of and changed.
2> It is a habitual obscene thought. In the Old Testament, one was judged only if they actually committed adultery, but Jesus said that merely harboring lust in one's heart was already adultery. Therefore, if we have sinned, we must repent quickly and be free from sin. By repenting, we can gradually become more free from sin.
What kind of place is hell? If the eyes are sinful, remove them so you do not go there. If the hand commits a crime, cut it off. He emphasized that if a foot commits a crime, it should be cut off so that it would never go to hell. The Apostle Paul also explained sin in detail. However, the sin of idolatry was emphasized repeatedly. This sin is greater than others because it violates the commandment not to serve any god other than God. Japan has more severe idolatry than other countries. Therefore, you must repent more as you believe in Jesus. Furthermore, we believers must intercede in prayer more.
The Israelites made a golden calf and worshiped it as the god who had led them. At that time, God became angry and sought to destroy the people, but by Moses’s intercession, God withdrew His anger. Because of that, a tragedy occurred in which 3,000 people were killed among the same people.
3> The one who searches and the one who remains silent. It refers to those who lead a wandering, licentious life and those who play the role of a woman among homosexuals. Also, men who are homosexual are men. This is the most detestable of all sins.
4> It is the sin of coveting. It means greed and envy. Envy is idolatry. It is said that such sins do not allow one to enter heaven. They cannot serve both God and wealth. 5> I am a climber. I am someone who slanders and slanders others. It means using profanity or verbal abuse.
6> I am a pecking bird. One who deceives and steals. An exploiter. It means a fraudster.
7>I am one who tests the Lord. It refers to those who do not trust God, test Him, or do not believe the Word. The Israelites tested the Lord and were killed by a snake. In other words, they were destroyed by being deceived by the devil. The devil is targeting those who do not trust God and test Him. Therefore, we must trust God. You must believe in God's power. |
