The sale of ethanol blended petrol has been made compulsory effective April 1, 2026. The government has made it mandatory to market petrol blended with ethanol at levels of up to 20% and with a minimum Research Octane Number (RON) of 95. This mandate is applicable across all states and Union Territories of India.

인도 정부는 2026년 04월1일부터 옥탄가 95이상, 에탄올 20% 혼합 휘발유 판매를 의무화 한다. 이 규정은 인도 전역의 모든 주와 연방 직할령에 적용 된다. 

In a notification issued on February 17, the oil ministry has said that oil marketing companies must supply ethanol-mixed motor spirit (petrol) containing ethanol up to 20%, in accordance with specifications set by the Bureau of Indian Standards, and meeting the requirement of a minimum RON of 95 across the country.

2월 17일 발표된 공지에서 인도 석유부는 석유 판매 회사들이 인도 표준국(BIS)이 정한 규격에 따라 에탄올 함량이 최대 20%인 에탄올 혼합 휘발유를 전국에 공급해야 하며 최고 옥탄가 95이상의 요건을 충족해야 한다고 밝혔다.
