Revitalize ecosystems and rural communities | |
![]() |
Rural communities must be restored. Our generation has fond memories of life in a rural community but the number of people growing up under these circumstances may decrease tremendously as the ecosystem is being destroyed, tearing rural communities apart. Restoring the ecosystem and establishing good living conditions would make Korea a good place to live. We are asking members of our generation to go back to rural communities and restore them. It is our desire to restore beautiful rural communities so that our grandchildren can live in harmony with nature during their summer vacation and attend to the elderly, who have rendered their services to the development of our economy. Live five days in the city and two days in a rural community + five days in a rural community and two days in the city The idea of living in the city for five days and in a rural community for two days, or vice versa, is being explored. The balanced national development plan aims to establish a transportation network that would connect communities with populations of about 30,000-50,000 to the six major cities in about an hour and anywhere else in the country in about 3 hours to promote this idea.
If people were to live like this, the nation’s cultural and manufacturing environment would adjust accordingly and the centralization of activities in Seoul would be dispersed throughout the country. Shouldn’t those who have been studying hard and dreaming until their twenties, and competing and working hard until their thirties, forties and fifties leave now? Creating a new life and redesigning the second and third life with our hands is the vision of Korea, making it a good place to live. <Special Program for the Regional Broadcasting Day, Dec. 7, 2005 |
