Giotto di Bondone (지오토/1266 ?~1337.1.8)

피렌체파 회화의 창시자로서 그 명성은 동시대의 시인 단테의 《신곡》 <연옥편 제11가>에서 G.치마부에와 대비, 찬양되고, F.페트라르카나 보카치오 등의 저작에서도 나온다. 그러나 초기의 미술활동에 관한 확실한 문헌은 없고, 소년시절 양(羊)을 사생하고 있을 때 치마부에에게 발견되어 그의 문하에 들어갔다는 일화가 있다.
