  Part 18 : Hahoe(何悔,하회)... What Can Be Done About the Regret ... Chapter 75.

이로움을 쫓아서 약속을 어긴다면 이로움이 있을지라도 믿음은 없다.

 If one breaks a promise in pursuit of profit, 

 there may be profit, but there is no faith.

사랑을 도모하여 약속을 어긴즉 사랑은 잇을 지라도 믿음은 없다.

 If one breaks a promise to seek love, there may be love, but there is no faith.

이미 믿음이 없으니 이로움도 이루기 어렵고,

 Since faith is already gone, it becomes difficult to achieve profit,

사랑 또한 얻기 어려우니 창차 후회를 하게 될 것이다.

 and love also becomes difficilt to obtain, so eventually, 

  one will come to deeply regret it.

向利背約則 雖利나 無信이오 (향리배약즉 수리나 무신이오)
"If one pursues profit and betrays the covenant,

  though they may profit, they have no faith."

謨愛背約則 雖愛나 無信이니 (모애배약즉 수애나 무신이니)
 "If one schemes for love and betrays the covenant,

  though they may find love, they have no faith."

旣無信矣면 二或不成하며 (기무신의면 이혹불성하며)
 "Since faith is already gone,

  neither of the two (profit or love) can be accomplished,"

 
愛亦不得이니 將悔焉이니라. (애역부득이니 장회언이니라.)
 "And love also cannot be obtained, so in the end,

   there will only be regret."

이익이든 사랑이든 그것은 반드시 정성으로 시작하여 믿음으로 발전한다.

 Whether it is profit or love, 

  it must begin with sincerity and develop into faith.

그 어떤 이익이든 사랑이든 정성과 믿음을 잃는다면 머지않아 끝이있다.

 If one loses sincerity and faith for any kind of profit or love,

 it will not be long before it all comes to an end.

하물며 이익과 사랑을 위해 믿음을 저버린다는 것은 밥을 먹기위해 밥상을 발로 걷어찬다는 것과 같다.
 Furthermore, forsaking faith for the sake of profit and love is like kicking

 away the dining table just to eat a meal.
