<Lesson8. The Parable Light (and the Lighthouse, the Blind Man, the Deaf Man, and the Robe)
Hello, everyone. Today we're going to look at the eighth parable, the light.
First, the light in the parable is the word of life.
Our scripture is 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6.
When does this scripture take place? It takes place at the Second Coming of the Lord on the Day of the Lord.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, we see that there are two kinds of people: you and us.
We are not saved because we are at peace, because we are safe.
You are not in the darkness, so Jesus does not come as a thief and you are saved.
Who belongs to the light?
Let's talk about spiritual light and who belongs to it.
In the Bible, there is 1. physical light and 2. spiritual light.
It uses parables to illustrate the spiritual in heaven by lifting up the physical on earth.
The characteristic of physical light is illumination. When you illuminate an object or space with light, you can see into it, you can discern it, and it gives life to all things. To be illuminated means to be bright in that area.
The fleshly quality of darkness is the state of being in darkness. It is impossible to discern what state a thing or space is in; death is imminent if it does not receive the light that gives life to all things; ignorance, to be ignorant, is that when I am ignorant of a field, I am dark in that field.
1) Light and darkness in the parable
- Jn 1:1-4, :5 You see the light is the word of life, and the darkness is ignorance without the word.
- Jn 12:46 Jesus said, I am the light.
- Mt 5:14 He likened his disciples to light.
He said, In the beginning was the word of life, and it is the light of men.
There is life, and this light is the light of men.
Spiritual darkness is the absence of the word of life, ignorance without the word. John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not understand it.
If the light is the word of life, then those who have the word are also light, right?
Jesus, who received the word of life from God 2,000 years ago, is also the light of life.
The light is the word of life and the person who has the word.
2) Let's look at the reality of light.
Genesis 1:1-5 On the first day, God created light.
-When there is light, it is day
-Darkness is night.
Light is the dividing line between light and darkness, and day and night come into being.
It is the starting point from which day and night begin.
In Old Testament prophecy, Isaiah 9:1-2 says that in a time of darkness, a light will shine in Galilee.
In the Second Coming fulfillment, Matthew 4:12-17 Jesus, the light of Galilee in a time of darkness, fulfills the words of Isaiah.
John 9:4-5 Jesus is the light of the world.
Those who belong to the light are those who have believed the word and come to him.
In the first century, those in the darkness were the Jews who did not believe the word.
John 1:1-5 Jesus is the light, and the Jews are darkness.
* Psalm 119:130 Open the word of the Lord, that it may shine upon the foolish and make them understand,
3) The meaning of day and night
Old Testament (night: Old Testament prophecy, Isaiah 29 is a sealed book)/First Coming (day, John 9:4-5)/New Testament (night: Revelation, Rev. 5 is a sealed book) / Second Coming (day, Rev. 10)
When Old Testament prophecy is sealed in parables, it is spiritual night.
The first advent, when Old Testament prophecy is revealed, is spiritual day.
When New Testament prophecy is sealed in parables, it is spiritual night.
God has chosen a shepherd to feed the people with the Word and to go and tell them, so that they may know the prophecies and meanings of the New Testament.
3) The meaning of day and night
- 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 At the Second Coming, the children of light are those who have heard the word of revelation and have come forth, while the children of darkness are those who have not heard the word of revelation and have not come forth, even though they have believed and worshiped.
Today, let us be the children of light prophesied in the New Testament!
