This course provides you with the skills necessary to work in the areas of sports event management, sports administration management, sports coaching and officiating, sports trainer, strength and conditioning, sales and marketing within sporting goods companies, councils and sport and recreation organisations.
It ensures you have the knowledge and skills to implement and oversee activites for businesses involved with sports and recreational activities, enhancing our leisure time and providing expert assistance to teams and individuals who participate in these activities.
This course is a dual qualification. If you complete the Diploma of Sport Development you will also receive Diploma of Athlete Support Services.

This course is completed over four semesters. Please note, this is subject to review. Competencies are conducted over one semester or less, depending on contact hours.
Please note: some competencies require the completion of pre/co-requisite competencies.
If you are undertaking the course full-time, these pre/co-requisite have been incorporated into the course. The course materials fees for these pre/co-requisite are only charged once. However, you will be given the opportunity to demonstrate competency in the underpinning knowledge (prerequisites) for this course, i.e. the knowledge found in the lower level competencies, for example Certificate IV.
You should have successfully completed VCE or its equivalent. Mature age entry is available if you are judged to have appropriate maturity or experience, but do not meet the academic requirements.
Refer to the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) guide for selection criteria. In addition to the selection criteria outlined in the VTAC guide you may also be require to attend an interview with the Course Coordinator.

After completing this course, you will be eligible to apply for degree courses in sports management (commerce), sports coaching and administration (health sciences), human movement (health sciences) and will be able to receive some credit for studies already undertaken.
