Uplands hosted a wonderful “Coffee, Connection, and Calculations” session

The International School of Penang (Uplands) hosted a wonderful “Coffee, Connection, and Calculations” session last Friday, bringing our Primary parent community together for a meaningful morning of learning.

Parents were given a “student’s eye view” of Mathematics in the PYP, experiencing firsthand how inquiry-based learning unfolds in the classroom. By engaging in the same inquiry-driven challenges as our students, they were able to explore how conceptual understanding in maths connects to real-world applications

It was inspiring to see our parents step into the role of learners—collaborating, questioning, and thinking deeply alongside one another

Moments like these truly help bridge the gap between home and school, strengthening our learning community.

페낭(업랜드) 국제학교는 지난 금요일에 훌륭한 "커피, 연결, 계산" 세션을 개최하여 초등 학부모 커뮤니티를 하나로 모아 의미 있는 아침 학습을 진행했습니다.
학부모들은 PYP에서 수학에 대한 '학생들의 시선'을 받으며 교실에서 탐구 기반 학습이 어떻게 진행되는지 직접 체험했습니다. 학생들과 동일한 탐구 중심의 도전에 참여함으로써 수학의 개념적 이해가 실제 응용과 어떻게 연결되는지 탐구할 수 있었습니다
부모님이 학습자의 역할에 발을 들여놓으며 서로 협력하고, 질문하고, 깊이 생각하는 모습을 보는 것은 매우 고무적이었습니다
이러한 순간들은 가정과 학교 사이의 격차를 해소하고 학습 공동체를 강화하는 데 진정으로 도움이 됩니다.
