Senator Kaine indicated that this measure would be partially implemented by the U.S. Pacific Command, marking a new phase of the pressure campaign against Tehran that the Trump administration has dubbed "economic fury." White House Press Secretary Anna Kelly stated in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that President Trump is optimistic that a combination of a naval blockade and "economic fury" measures would help achieve a peace agreement. Amid mounting economic pressure, the temporary ceasefire is set to expire next week. Talks held in Pakistan last weekend failed to produce a breakthrough, and a date for the next meeting has not yet been set.
