What does this course involve?
This course equips you with the knowledge and skills needed for media and marketing communications plans and campaigns, crisis and issues management, fundraising, government lobbying and leading others. There is a strong emphasis on the use of hands-on projects to develop the skills needed to work in the industry.
This course is also available to International Students.
Course structure
Stage 1 units are offered in Semester One and Stage 2 units are offered in Semester Two. Each unit is conducted over one semester or less, depending on contact hours.
Entrance requirements
You should have successfully completed VCE or its equivalent, or be a mature age entrant. You are eligible to study Advanced Diploma of Business (Public Relations) provided you have satisfactorily completed Box Hill Institute’s Certificate IV in Business (Public Relations) or equivalent workplace experience.
Mature age entry is available when you are judged to have appropriate maturity or experience, but do not meet the academic requirements.
You will be given the opportunity to demonstrate competency in the underpinning knowledge for this course, i.e. the knowledge found in Certificate IV in Business (Public Relations).
Selection criteria
Supporting evidence such as an ENTER is required for school leavers. Refer to a relevant copy of the VTAC guide for any other specific selection criteria.
There is no formal selection procedure for part-time students.
Length of course
Full-time - one year.
Part-time - approximately two years.
Part-time study for Advanced Diploma of Business (Public Relations) may be offered only if there is availability in the day-time classes. Please contact the Course Coordinator to enrol in part-time study.

Recognition
This course is accredited by the Office of Training and Tertiary Education (OTTE). You will also be qualified for admission to the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) as a Professional Affiliate. You are also eligible to sit the (PRIA) accreditation exam.
