=> C.O.D.는 '대금 상환 배달' 이라는 말로서 미국에서는 Collect On Delivery의 약자이고 영국에서는 Cash On Delivery의 약자로 사용합니다. 이것은 우체국에서 손님이 물건을 부칠때 돈을 내지 않고 물건을 받을 때 돈을 지불하는 방식의 제도입니다. 예를 들어서 Please send this parcel C.O.D. (이 소포를 대금상환으로 보내 주십시요.) 라고 하면 소포를 받은 사람이 요금을 내게 되어 있습니다.

ZIP-code 여기서의 ZIP은(Zone Improvement Program)의 약자입니다. 1962.3 서독에서 처음 시작한 제도이며 이것은 다섯 자리 숫자로 되어 있는데 첫자리는 지역 번호, 두 세번째 숫자는 중앙 우체국 번호, 네 다섯번째 숫자는 배달구역 번호를 뜻합니다. 영국에서는 우편번호를 " postcode "라고 합니다.

Great attention should be paid to the letterhead. It should, of course, carry the name of the firm, and other important items such as address, telephone number, and possible the department and name of the executive. Law firms customarily list all the partners and associates on the letterhead. In some cases, a slogan or a list of the main products is included. A common error is to show both a post office box number and a street number, which can be confusing to the person replying.

Also distressing is printing the address in microscopic type with pale, almost illegible ink.

편지 윗부분을 주의 깊게 봐야 한다. 물론 거기에는 회사의 이름과 주소, 전화 번호, 그리고 가능하다면 경영 간부의 부서와 이름이 나와 있다. 법률 회사는 관례적으로 모든 파트너들과 동료직원들의 이름을 윗부분에 명기한다. 어떤 경우에는 주요 제품의 광고 문구나 목록이 포함되기도 한다. 흔히 저지르기 쉬운 실수는 우체국 사서함 번호와 거리 번호를 모두 명시하는 것인데 이렇게 하면 답신하는 사람에게 혼동을 일으킨다. 흐릿하고 거의 읽기 힘든 잉크로 된 깨알 같은 글자로 주소를 인쇄하는 것도 받는 사람을 난처하게 한다.
