맥도널드 햄버거에 토마토가 없어지는 웃지못할 일이 벌어졌습니다.

지난여름 폭염으로인해서 토마토 2,000톤을 공급받아온 전북 장수군과 강원도 철원군의 수확피해때문입니다.

지난 6월 한국 맥도널드는 미국산 '기준 미달' 냉동 감자에 대한 우려로 감자튀김 판매를 중단해야 했습니다.

2020년에도 맥도널드와 버거킹이 같은 이유로 토마토없는 햄버거를 판매한 일이 있습니다.

기후위기의 피해가 우리생활 가까운 곳에서 나타나고 있습니다.

Sweltering heat causes supply shortage
무더위로 인해 공급 부족 발생

McDonald’s Korea has been forced to take tomatoes out of its burgers, due to a supply shortage caused by the record-breaking heat wave this summer, the local unit of the fast food giant said Tuesday.
맥도날드 코리아는 올여름 기록적인 폭염으로 인한 공급부족으로 인해 햄버거에서 토마토를 뺄 수밖에 없었다고 이 패스트푸드 대기업의 현지 사업부가 화요일 밝혔다.

The company decided to offer free drink coupons to customers who ordered burgers that were supposed to come with tomatoes.
이 회사는 토마토가 함께 제공되어야 하는 버거를 주문한 고객에게 무료 음료 쿠폰을 제공하기로 결정했다.

“We thank you for your patience and kind understanding,” McDonald’s Korea said in a statement.
맥도날드 코리아는 성명을 통해 "인내심과 친절한 이해에 감사드린다,"고 밝혔다.

“McDonald’s is committed to stabilizing the tomato supply as soon as possible.”
"맥도날드는 가능한 한 빨리 토마토 공급을 안정화하기 위해 최선을 다하고 있다."

McDonald’s Korea has sourced around 2,000 tons of tomatoes annually from Korean farmers to support local communities and secure high-quality ingredients.

한국 맥도날드는 지역사회를 지원하고 고품질 식재료를 확보하기 위해 한국 농가로부터 매년 약 2,000톤의 토마토를 공급받아 왔다.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the sweltering heat especially damaged tomatoes harvested in Jangsu County, North Jeolla Province, and Cheorwon County, Gangwon Province.

농림축산식품부에 따르면 폭염으로 인해 특히 전북 장수군과 강원도 철원군에서 수확한 토마토가 피해를 입었다.

In June, McDonald’s Korea was also forced to halt sales of French fries because of concerns about “substandard” frozen potatoes from the United States.

지난 6월, 한국 맥도날드는 미국산 '기준 미달' 냉동 감자에 대한 우려로 감자튀김 판매를 중단해야 했다.
