MYP2 Design students explored an engaging and impactful unit titled Air Itam – Our Water during Term 2.

Students investigated the importance of access to clean water and its impact on different communities

The inquiry began with a field visit to the river adjacent to the Uplands campus, where students collected and tested water samples. They examined both the physical and social causes of water contamination, deepening their understanding of real-world environmental challenges

Through research into waterborne diseases and existing filtration systems, students applied their knowledge to design and create their own user-friendly water filters tailored to specific users. The process encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and innovation

A key highlight of the unit was testing their filters, which not only made learning hands-on and exciting but also provided valuable feedback for improvement and evidence of the effectiveness of their design ideas

학생들은 깨끗한 물에 대한 접근의 중요성과 그것이 다양한 지역 사회에 미치는 영향을 조사했습니다
조사는 학생들이 물 샘플을 수집하고 테스트하는 업랜드 캠퍼스 인근 강을 현장 방문하는 것으로 시작되었습니다. 학생들은 물 오염의 물리적, 사회적 원인을 모두 조사하여 실제 환경 문제에 대한 이해를 깊게 했습니다
수인성 질병과 기존 여과 시스템에 대한 연구를 통해 학생들은 자신의 지식을 활용하여 특정 사용자에 맞춘 사용자 친화적인 정수 필터를 직접 설계하고 만들었습니다. 이 과정을 통해 창의성, 문제 해결, 혁신이 촉진되었습니다
유닛의 주요 하이라이트는 필터를 테스트하는 것이었으며, 이는 학습을 실습하고 흥미롭게 만들 뿐만 아니라 디자인 아이디어의 효과에 대한 개선 및 증거를 위한 귀중한 피드백을 제공했습니다
