| Work slowly and busily on socio-economic divide | |

Although we have prepared many measures to reduce the socio-economic divide, it is difficult to be optimistic about the next 10 years with the resources we have at hand. Many people have different ideas on how the issue should be resolved. There are those who believe that rapid growth must be realized in order to resolve the socio-economic divide and those who believe that the socio-economic divide must be resolved in order to realize continuous growth; however, but everyone agrees that the next 10 years will be extremely busy. Therefore, it seems that the issue must be handled slowly on the one hand and busily on the other. A senior alumnus advised me with phrases such as “strike while the iron is hot” and “look before you leap.” Both seem to be appropriate in this situation. Therefore, we need to continue working hard and address each problem independently. <Jan. 3, 2006, Gathering for New Year’s Day Greetings with Major Invited Figures from State Organizations • Political Parties> |
