The Summary of "My Food Is"
Rev. James Young Lee
I have shared a message titled "My Food Is," as Jesus says, from John 4:31-38 in my trip to the East Coast.
This is the written summary of the message.
Main Focus of the message is on the first section; God's Nature vs. Man's Culture.
Title & Section in Bold, Text from NIV in Black, & My Comments in Italic.
My Food Is... (John 4:31-34)
31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, "Rabbi, eat something."
32 But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about."
33 Then his disciples said to each other, "Could someone have brought him food?"
34 "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.
Food of the disciples represents man-made CULTURE.
Food of Jesus represents NATURE made by God.
Living in culture, we must not be dominated by culture but be faithful to God-made nature.
God-made Nature- the Truth, from the very beginning, is perfect and the best.
Man-made Culture, such as eating the forbidden fruit, and consequent beginning of the fashion industry and everything else is from sinful nature- short-coming of human being to His glory- which is originally intended to cover the short-comings (shamed to be naked) but failed.
Time Is... (35)
35 Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
NOW is the only time for us to live, believe, and serve.
Wage Is... (36a)
36a Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life,
Serving Him is our wage.
Serving comes first before the result of labor.
We already have everything FREE so we give FREE.
Kingdom Spirit (36b-38)
36b so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.
37 Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true.
38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor."
Whatever we do we do as a part of the God-Ruling Kingdom Business putting the priority on Serving God Himself.
