| Dear professional, At Niviuk we believe that a reserve parachute is an essential piece of gear to guarantee pilot safety, and hence selecting the best model is as important as choosing the rest of the equipment.
When we decided to introduce the Octagon on the reserve parachute market, we took advantage of our business partner Vital Parachutes' expertise, known for its high manufacturing quality standards and exceptionally safe products.
Why is the Octagon one of the best rescues on the market from our point of view?
The self-stabilization system of the Octagon plays an important role in its overall design. The octagonal shape plus the four lateral stabilizer air inlets work together for a steady and safe descent trajectory.
As a result, the oscillation Octagon rate is 0-5º. With this minimized rolling angle, the pilot cannot feel the deviation from the vertical axis while descending, making the added risk of an accelerated drop almost inexistent.
Additionally, the large surface area found in all sizes is also a key factor for having more aerodynamic drag and consequently bring a lower descent ratio (4,9 m/s at maximum load).
However, a large surface area does not necessarily mean extra weight. The light and reinforced materials used to build the Octagon were wisely chosen to reduce its overall weight without compromising the structural integrity: S (26 m2 – 1,1 kg), 60~80kg M (32 m2 – 1,3 kg), 80~100kg L (38 m2 – 1,5 kg), 100~120kg XL (45 m2 – 1,7 kg), 120~140kg XXL (55 m2 – 2,4 kg), 140~170kg Tandem (67 m2 – 2,9 kg). 170~210kg
Consequently, due to a really steady descent trajectory and a low sink rate, the resulting benefits brought to the pilot come in terms of softer and safer landings.
Paramotor Suitable for paramotor pilots up to 215 kg. The ratio between the surface area, volume, product weight and performance makes it a valuable lifesaver to carry on-board while keeping the benefits of a larger size parachute.
