Then God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. Genesis 1:14-19
We embarked on our journey. we are on a life journey, one of connection and recovery with the Lord, and presently, we are immersed in studying the Bible. Today marks the fourth day of creation, with light being the central theme. On the first day, God created light to distinguish it from darkness. However, the lights we're delving into here differs slightly from the physical illumination.
From the elucidations presented thus far, we comprehend that light is no longer merely a physical phenomenon. It symbolizes God's vitality and influence, directly interwoven with our personalities and lives. Nevertheless, the light we are discussing in today's text possesses distinct qualities. To grasp this concept, it's useful to consider the light of the world.
Undoubtedly, light is an existent entity, yet every light source is dependent on an external illumination that it emits. We witness sunlight, fluorescent bulbs, and candles. Alternatively, we see light originating from sources such as the moon or objects around us, reflecting off surfaces. Light is indisputably a tangible entity, but it always traces back to a source that generates it.
If we acknowledge that the creation process outlined in Genesis Chapter 1 is God's act of ushering in the new order and establishing control, we must now ponder the significance of this light. God has placed these luminous bodies in the sky, which symbolizes the realm within our personalities. Light is the means by which light radiates. It's not restricted to daylight alone; it encompasses the night as well. God doesn't undertake this journey solo; it's a coalescence of divine restraint and guidance.
The entity in question is Gwangmyeong, which doesn't necessarily pertain to an individual. It can encompass biblical figures or even inanimate objects. The Lord embodies both the concept of light itself and the actual figures chronicled in the Bible; thus, He is the light. One might admire King David, Abraham, or other distinguished figures for their faith. All these individuals are a part of the light that illuminates our path, guiding and inspiring us. Yet, the Lord, in His essence, is the light that guides us.
In a way, you yourself might serve as a beacon of light, large or small, to someone. This guidance is not confined to the daytime or the process of divine restraint; it persists through the world of existence. We continue this journey with guidance and assistance from someone, not only during the day but also throughout the night.
God does not pause or alter the course He has initiated. There are no breaks until the work is complete. Even the concept of rest, post-completion, is a matter worth contemplating. Ultimately, the beautiful narrative that commenced within us will culminate and flourish in a realm characterized by sanctity, blessings, and the repose that God has promised.
