Command Team & Operations Group AO-51 News
January 2006 Amsat Kid's Day on AO-51
Amsat-NA, the AO-51 Command Team, and the AO-51 Operations Team will sponsor Kid's Day on AO-51 on January 8, 2006. The event will run from approximately 0100 utc 8 January until 0345 utc 9 January. The event is open to all kids, worldwide. We ask all amateur radio stations to give this short time window to promote satellite operations with kids, by actually showing a kid how to make contacts via AO-51, providing a station to contact, or stepping aside to allow others to make contacts with the kids. During the event, please limit contacts to stations that are operating with kids at the microphone. This should allow the kids to have a nice QSO and pass some information. Kids can tell their name, age, who is helping them operate on AO-51, where they live, and other information about themselves.
AO-51 will be configured in the following mode during the event. Please note the change in the uplink frequency for the event. The PL tone will be turned off for the event.
Uplink: 145.880 mhz FM voice Downlink: 435.300 mhz FM voice
The digital transponder on 435.150 will be turned off during the event.
See http://www.arrl.org/FandES/ead/kd-rules.html on the ARRL website for more Kids Day information.
Have fun and enjoy AO-51!

AO-51 Digipeater function enabled for a Trial Test Session 21 DEC 2005: The digipeat function on AO-51 has been turned ON for a trial run, starting on 20 December. This is a shared uplink and downlink with the PBBS, so do not overload it with continuous, or high duty rate, beacons or broadcasts.
Downlink: 435.150 FM 9600 baud Uplink: 145.860 FM 9600 baud Digi Callsign: PACB-1
To verify that the digipeat function is currently turned ON, look for the text "d:1" in the LSTAT message that is broadcast by AO-51. If the text is "d:0" the digipeater is OFF.
Thanks to Jeff (KB2M) and Gould (WA4SXM) for their work in testing the digi function before the Trial Session.

AO-51 ECHO LOW POWER STATION (QRP) REQUIREMENTS:
To attempt to keep this simple a low power station will be defined as a station which can deliver no more than 10 watts to a vertical or handheld antenna.
Some examples of Low Power Stations: 1) Using an HT (barefoot, no amplifier) with 10 watts or less output into any type of vertical whip antenna (rubber duck, etc) or handheld beam antenna (arrow type). 2) Using a mobile station with 10 watts or less output into car mounted mobile whip antenna(s). 3) Using a base station at 10 watts output into a vertical omnidirectional antenna on the side of the house.
Examples that are NOT Low Power Stations: 1) Any type of high gain beam antenna, KLM, M2, Cushcraft, etc. 2) Any station transmitting over 10 watts into any type of antenna.
How well we operate the satellite within these guidelines will determine how much we can run this mode in the future. So lets try and do this right!

AO-51 Echo Mode Suggestion Email Address
The VP-Operations for Amsat-NA has established an Operations Group and email address for AO-51 satellite users to submit requests and ideas for the Experimenters Wednesday sessions. We will also take suggestions for the normal weeklong operational periods as well. Every member of the Operations Group will receive emails from this address. This is your chance, the amateur satellite user, to request from the AO-51 Operations Group the modes you are interested in seeing operated on the satellite during the weekly Wednesday sessions. Do not expect a reply to every email, as we will not have the time to respond to each one, but your input will be noted.
The email address to send your requests or ideas to the Operations Group is: ao51-modes@amsat.org
The AO-51 Operations Group is made up of Amsat Members who are also AO-51 users. The Operations Group works with the Command Team to create the monthly schedule for the satellite.

첫댓글 재미 있는건.16일 부터 21일까지의 FM Repeater, V(ssb)/U FM (Experimental) Uplink: 145.880 mhz USB Downlink 435.300 mhz FM 입니다. 이번달은 S/V모드는 없네요.
오늘 3일은 No tone인데...
