如是我聞
一時 佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園 與大比丘衆 千二百五十人俱
Like this I heard.
One time, Buddha had been staying in Shravasti Country, at the relief Elder Jeta's garden, together with great Bhikus and the mass of 1,250 peoples.
爾時 世尊 食時 著衣持鉢 入舍衛大城乞食
At those one day, World Honer, on meal time, put on robe and holded his vowl, entered in Shravasti's big castle.
於其城中 次第乞已 還至本處 飯食訖 收衣鉢 洗足已 敷座而坐
In that castle, he begged food according to the sequence of houses.
He returned to the original place, ate the day's meal.
He arranged his robe and bowl, washed his feet.
He put his cushion and sat down.
時 長老須菩提 在大衆中 卽從座起 偏袒右肩 右膝著地 合掌恭敬而白佛言
On that time, the Elder Subhuti who was sitting in the mass on the sequence, stood up.
He bared robe from his right shoulder, put his knee on the ground, and with his palms together paid homage to Buddha, and said.
希有世尊
如來 善護念諸菩薩 善付囑諸菩薩
世尊 善男子善女人 發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 應云何住 云何降伏其心
How unnoticible! World Honor.
Nyearae so well protect every Bodhisattva and so well show paragons for every bodhisattva.
World Honor. For Sunmen and Sunwomen, who develop the desire for the highest rightest identical enlightenment, on what should their mind be stayed?
How should they subdue their mind?
佛言
善哉善哉 須菩提 如汝所說 如來 善護念諸菩薩 善付囑諸菩薩
汝今諦聽 當爲汝說
善男子善女人 發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 應如是住 如是降伏其心
Buddha replied.
Very well very well. Subhuti.
What you said is right. Nyearae well protect every Bodhisattva and well show paragons for every Bodhisattva.
You listen very carefully. I'll explain for you.
Sunmen and Sunwomen who develop the desire for the highest rightest identical enlightenment must stay their mind such rightly, and so must rightly subdue their mind.
唯然 世尊 願樂欲聞
So it should be. World Honor. Please, we desire happily to listen.
佛告須菩提
諸菩薩摩訶薩 應如是降伏其心
Buddha said to Subhuti.
Every bodhisattva, like this way, must subdue their mind.
所有一切衆生之類 若卵生 若胎生 若濕生 若化生 若有色 若無色 若有想 若無想 若非有想非無想 我皆令入無餘涅槃而滅度之 如是滅度無量無數無邊衆生 實無衆生得滅度者
Objective being of every sort of living being, which is born from the seed, from the incubator, from the culture and from the transformation.
whether it is color kind or no color kind
whether it is thought being or no thought being
whether it is outiside being of thought being or outside being of no thought being.
I will surely guide whole of them to the nothing remained Nirvana.
So as the result, I would have guided immeasurable, innumerable, infinite number of living being to be liberated, but there is really not any living being which has gotten liberatation.
何以故 須菩提 若菩薩 有我相 人相 衆生相 壽者相 卽非菩薩
What is the reason?
Subhuti, if Bodhisattva has, in his mind, the being of I, the being of other people, the being of living being and the being of liberated being, he can't be Bodhisattva.
復次須菩提
菩薩 於法應無所住行於布施。
所謂 不住色布施 不住聲香味觸法布施
Moreover, Subhuti.
Bodhisattva, on any kind of meaning being not to be attached, should do beneficial charity.
So say, not to be attached to color kind, Bodhisattva do charity.
Not to be attached to sound kind, smell kind, taste kind, tactile kind and meaning kind, Bodhisattva do charity.
須菩提 菩薩 應如是布施 不住於相
Subhuti.
Bodhisattva must like this way, should do charity.
Never stay onto any objective being.
何以故 若菩薩 不住相布施 其福德不可思量
須菩提 於意云何 東方虛空 可思量不
For what?
When Bodhisattva, not being attached, do charity, the beneficial result cannot be measured.
Subhuti. how do you say?
That Eastern void sky can be measured?
不也 世尊
No. World Honor.
須菩提 南西北方四維 上下虛空 可思量不
Subhuti. Those Southern, Western, Northern, Four Betweens and Above and Below void skies can be measured?
不也 世尊
No. World Honor.
須菩提 菩薩 無住相布施福德 亦復如是 不可思量
須菩提 菩薩 但應如所敎住
Subhuti. When bodhisattva, not being attached to objective being do charity, the beneficial result also is as like this, can't be measured.
Subhuti. Bodhisattva should stay on here to be tought.
須菩提 於意云何 可以身相見如來不
Subhuti. what do you say?
It is possible by the body being, to see Nyearae, isn't it?
不也 世尊 不可以身相得見如來 何以故 如來所說身相 卽非身相
No. World Honor.
By the body being no one can see Nyearae.
Fot the reason, Nyearae say the body being is just not any being of body being.
佛告須菩提
凡所有相 皆是虛妄 若見諸相非相 卽見如來
Buddha agreed to Subhuti.
Every objectitve existing being, whole is like false and delusion.
When you see every objective being is not real being as seen, you'll just see Nyearae.
須菩提白佛言
世尊 頗有衆生 得聞如是言說章句 生實信不
Subhuti said to the Buddha.
World Honor. There can be any people listening like this kind of teaching by words and phrases, they can breed up real faith, can't they?
佛告須菩提
莫作是說 如來滅後 後五百歲 有持戒修福者 於此章句 能生信心
Buddha replied.
Don't say like that way. After Nyearae have passed away, later five hundred years, there will be people who had kept Sila and have gotten resource, so on this phrase, they will soon breed up believing mind.
以此爲實 當知是人 不於一佛二佛三四五佛而種善根已 於無量千萬佛所種諸善根 聞是章句乃至一念生淨信者
This will truely happen.
You should know these people, they not only, under one Buddha, two Buddha, three four five Buddha, had sown good seeds.
But innumerable thousands Buddha's place, they had sown every seeds for good roots.
So listening this phrase, naturally being one minded, they'll breed up pure belief.
須菩提 如來悉知悉見 是諸衆生 得如是無量福德
何以故 是諸衆生 無復我相 人相 衆生相 壽者相 無法相 亦無非法相
Subhuti. Nyearae completely know, clearly see these every people will get innumerable beneficial result.
What's the reason?
These every people never have gotton again the being of I, the being of other people, the being of living being, the being of liberated being, the being of any meaning and the being of the contra meaning.
何以故 是諸衆生 若心取相 卽爲著我人衆生壽者
若取法相 卽著我人衆生壽者
何以故 若取非法相 卽著我人衆生壽者
是故 不應取法 不應取非法
以是義故 如來常說 汝等比丘知我說法 如筏喩者 法尙應捨 何況非法
What's the reason?
When if, every these people get any objective being then they are already attached to the I, the other people, the living being and the liberated being.
When they get the being of any meaning then they are also attached to the I, the other people, the living being and the liberated being.
The reason why is, when they get the being of the contra meaning then they are also attached to the I, the other people, the living being and the liberated being.
For this reason, you shouldn't get any meaning, you shouldn't get the contra meaning.
For this reason is right, so Nyearae always say, you all Bhikus must understand my preaching Dharma as like a raft.
Dharma resultingly must be thrown away, why there can be any other reason to keep wrong Dharma?
須菩提 於意云何 如來得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提耶
如來有所說法耶
Subhuti. What are you going to say?
Nyearae have gotten the highest rightest identical enlightenment?
Nyearae have preached any Dharma?
須菩提言
如我解佛所說義 無有定法名阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 亦無有定法如來可說
何以故 如來所說法 皆不可取 不可說 非法 非非法
所以者何 一切賢聖 皆以無爲法而有差別
Subhuti replied.
As far, I have understood the meaning of Buddha's teaching, there is not any really existing Dharma to name for the highest rightest identical enlightenment.
Also, there can't be any really existing Dharma Nyearae had preached.
Because, Nyearae's preaching meaning whole is can't be taken, can't be expressed, not being of any meaning and also can't be any contra meaning.
The reason is so like this, every Wise saint whole are on Pure Dharma, so those are different and classified.
須菩提 於意云何 若人滿三千大千世界七寶以用包施 是人所得福德 寧爲多不
Subhuti. What are you going to say?
When some person using heaped up seven treasures on the three thousands of big thousand worlds, do charity.
This person will get benificial result surely very much, won't he?
須菩提言
甚多 世尊 何以故 是福德卽非福德性 是故如來說 福德多
Subhuti replied.
Very much. World Honor.
Because this beneficial result is not any being of beneficial result.
Therefore Nyearae say the beneficial result is much.
若復有人 於此經 中受持 乃至四句偈等 爲他人說 其福勝彼
And more, from this Sutra, some person who accept the inner meaning and keep on them, or they explain only four lines of this Sutra for other people, the benificial resource is more than the former's.
何以故 須菩提 一切諸佛及諸佛阿耨多羅三藐三菩提法 皆從此經出。
須菩提 所謂佛法者 卽非佛法
What's the reason? Subhuti.
All Buddhas and Dharmas of the highest rightest identical enlightenment whole come to appear from this Sutra.
Subhuti. So called any Buddha's Dharma is not the being of Buddha's Dharma.
須菩提 於意云何 須陀洹能作是念 我得須陀洹果不
Subhuti. What are you going to say?
Does Sudawon get this kind of thought, "I got the fruit of Sudawon, didn't I?"
須菩提言
不也 世尊 何以故 須陀洹 名爲入流而無所入 不入色聲香味觸法 是名須陀洹
Subhuti answered.
No. World Honor. The reason is because, Sudawon is named for the entered in the flow, but there is not any place to enter in.
He don't enter in color kind, sound kind, smell kind, taste kind, tactile kind and meaning kind, so he is named Sudawon.
須菩提 於意云何 斯陀含 能作是念 我得斯陀含果不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Does Sadaham get this kind of thought, "I got the fruit of Sadaham, didn't I?"
須菩提言
不也 世尊 何以故 斯陀含 名一往來 而實無往來 是名斯陀含
Subhuti answered.
No. World Honer. Because, Sadaham is named for the one more time returner. but there is really not any time place to return one more time, so he is named Sadaham.
須菩提 於意云何 阿那含 能作是念 我得阿那含果不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Does Anaham get this kind of thought, "I got the fruit of Anaham, didn't I?"
須菩提言
不也 世尊 何以故 阿那含 名爲不來而實無不來 是故名阿那含
Subhuti answered.
No. World Honer. The reason is because, Anaham is named for the noreturner, but threre is no term of not returning so he is named Anaham.
須菩提 於意云何 阿羅漢能作是念 我得阿羅漢道不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Does Arahan get this kind of thought, "I got the fruit of Arahan, didn't I?"
須菩提言
不也 世尊 何以故 實無有法名阿羅漢 世尊 若阿羅漢作是念 我得阿羅漢道 卽爲著我人衆生壽者
Subhuti answered.
No. World Honer. Because there is really no really existing meaning by the name of Arahan.
World Honer. If Arahan had gotton this kind of thought, he got the fruit of Arahan state, he just attached to the being of the I, the other people, the living being and the liberated being.
世尊 佛說我得無諍三昧 人中最爲第一 是第一離欲阿羅漢 我不作是念 我是離欲阿羅漢 世尊 我若作是念 我得阿羅漢道 世尊卽不說須菩提是樂阿蘭那行者 以須菩提 實無所行而名須菩提是樂阿蘭那行
World Honor.
Buddha said I had gotten the devateless Samaddhi, among the people the best number one, so this is the number one Arahan who departed from desires.
But I didn't get this kind of thought that I was just an Arahan, free from desire.
World Honer.
If I had gotten that kind of thought that I got the fruit of Arahan state, World Honer couldn't had said, "Subhuti is happy doer of Arana deeds."
Therefore, that Subhuti really didn't get any being of deeds so called Subhuti was happy Arana doer.
佛告須菩提
於意云何 如來昔在然燈佛所 於法有所得不
Buddha said to Subhuti.
What are yo going to say?
Nyearae, in ancient time, had been in the place of Dipankara Buddha.
Related to Dharma, he got anything, didn't he?
世尊 如來在然燈佛所 於法實無所得
World Honer. Nyearae had been on the Dipankara place, but related to Dharma, there was really nothing Nyearae had gotten.
須菩提 於意云何 菩薩 莊嚴佛土不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Bodhisattva seriously decorate Buddha land, doesn't he?
不也 世尊 何以故 莊嚴佛土者卽非莊嚴 是名莊嚴
No. World Honer. Because, the meaning of serious decorating Buddha land is not any being of serious decorating. So this is named serious decorating.
是故須菩提 諸菩薩摩訶薩 應如是生淸淨心
不應住色生心 不應住聲香味觸法生心 應無所住而生其心
須菩提 譬如有人身如須彌山王 於意云何 是身爲大不
Therefore Subhuti.
For every Bodhisattva Mahasattva, according to this, the clean pure mind is to be arisen.
Not staying on color kind, his mind arise.
Not staying on sound kind, smell kind, tactile kind and meaning kind, his mind arise.
According to nothing to stay on, his mind arise.
Subhuti.
This is figured like a person who's body is as big as Sumeru mountain king. What do you say? This body is big, isn't it?
須菩提言
甚大 世尊 何以故 佛說非身是名大身
Subhuti answered.
Very big. World Honor.
Because, Buddha is saying not any being of body for the name of the big body.
須菩提 如恒河中所有沙數 如是沙等恒河 於意云何 是諸恒河沙 寧爲多不
Subhuti. As in Ganges River there are many sands, So as the number of sands, suppose there are so many Ganges.
What do you say? These whole sands are really many, aren't they?
須菩提言
甚多 世尊 但諸恒河尙多無數 何況其沙
Subhuti answered.
Very many. World Honer.
Not only the number of Ganges River are even innumerable, how can say about those sands.
須菩提 我今實言告汝 若有善男子善女人 以七寶滿爾所恒河沙數三千大千世界以用布施 得福多不
Subhuti. Now, I am, with real words, saying to you.
When Sunmen and Sunwomen, with seven treasures full filled above the so many three thousands of big thousand worlds as so many number of Ganges sands, do use the treasures for generous chariy, then the beneficial result is very huge, isn't it?
須菩提言
甚多 世尊
Subhuti replied. Very huge. World Honor.
佛告須菩提
若善男子善女人 於此經中乃至受持四句偈等 爲他人說而此福德勝前福德
Buddha said to Subhuti.
When Sunmen and Sunwomen, from this Sutra, when they have accepted and keeping the contents of this Sutra or they have accepted and keeping only four lines in this Sutra, so they do explain for other people, their beneficial resource is better than the former's.
復次 須菩提 隨說是經乃至四句偈等 當知此處 一切世間天人阿修羅 皆應供養 如佛塔廟
Furthermore, Subhuti.
On accordance to explaining this Sutra or only four lines of this Sutra, this explaining place must be known as the same place where every world's heaven people and asuras whole necessarily do offerings as they do at the Buddha stupa and in the shrine.
何況有人 盡能受持讀誦 須菩提 當知是人 成就最上第一希有之法
若是經典所在之處 卽爲有佛 若尊重弟子
Then what will happen to the people who completely have accepted and keep reciting this Sutra?
Subhuti.
The people must be known as to be the one who accomplish the highest best rarest Dharma.
Wherever this Sutra is being placed, there is the place where Buddha and his respectful disciples are.
爾時須菩提白佛言
世尊 當何名此經 我等云何奉持。
Listened to this, Subhuti asked qwestion to Buddha, say.
World Honer.
By what name this sutra is called?
How we all should respectfully keep this?
佛告須菩提
是經名爲金剛般若波羅蜜 以是名字汝當奉持
Buddha ordered.
This sutra is named Diamond Prajnaparamita. With this name letter you ought to respectfully keep.
所以者何 須菩提 佛說般若波羅蜜 卽非般若波羅蜜
須菩提 於意云何 如來有所說法不
What is the reason? Subhuti. Buddha's saying Prajnaparamita is not a being of Prajnaparamita.
Subhuti. What do you say?
Nyearae had preached any Dharma, hadn't he?
須菩提白佛言
世尊 如來無所說
Subhuti answered. World Honer.
Nyearae hadn't preached.
須菩提 於意云何 三千大千世界 所有微塵 是爲多不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Three thousands of big thousand world's every tiny dusts are very many, aren't they?
須菩提言
甚多 世尊
Subhuti answered. Very many. World Honer.
須菩提 諸微塵如來說非微塵 是名微塵 如來說世界非世界 是名世界
Subhuti. Every tiny dusts are, Nyearae say, not any being of tiny dust. so name them tiny dusts.
Nyearae say, world is not any being of world, so name it world.
須菩提 於意云何 可以三十二相 見如來不
Subhuti. What do you say?
You can, by thirty two symbol marks, see Nyearae, can't you?
不也 世尊 不可以三十二相 得見如來 何以故 如來說三十二相 卽是非相 是名三十二相
No. World Honor.
It is not possible by thirty two symbol marks to see Nyearae.
Because, Nyearae's saying thirty two symbol marks are just not being of thirty two symbol marks, so name them thirty two symbol marks.
須菩提 若有善男子善女人 以恒河沙等身命布施 若復有人 於此經中乃至受持四句偈等 爲他人說 其福甚多
Subhuti. Suppose some Sunmen and Sunwomen, by many bodies and lives as many as Ganges sands, do charity, on the other case, there are some people, who accept and keep the contents of this Sutra or four lines of this Sutra, so they explain for other people, the beneficial result is more than the former's.
爾時 須菩提 聞說是經 深解義趣 涕淚悲泣而白佛言
At that time, Subhuti listening to this Sutra. deeply understood the meaning's indication. He moved to happy tears and cried, so he reported to Buddha, say.
希有世尊 佛說如是甚深經典 我從昔來所得慧眼 未曾得聞如是之經
Rarest. World Honer.
Buddha explained this like extreme deep Sutra.
I, from the past, have bred up the wisdom eye, but yet not have listened like this kind of Sutra.
世尊 若復有人 得聞是經 信心淸淨 卽生實相 當知是人成就第一希有功德
World Honor.
When there are really some person, who listen to this Sutra, their believing mind become pure, so the reality of beings sprung up, they should be known that they'll accomplish the best rarest power and result.
世尊 是實相者 卽是非相 是故如來說名實相
World Honor.
This reality of beings is just not any being of real being, such as this, Nyearae say the name for the reality of being.
世尊 我今得聞如是經典 信解受持 不足爲難
World Honor.
Now I have gotten, so listened this Sutra, so I believe, understand, accept and keep this Sutra without any difficulty, because there is no doubt remained.
若當來世後五百歲 其有衆生得聞是經 信解受持 是人卽爲第一希有
何以故 此人 無我相人相衆生相壽者相
When it necessarily will arrive at the later five hundred years, so there are some person who'll listen to this Sutra, so they believe, understand, accept and keep this Sutra, then they are the best and the rarest.
Because these people are free from being of I, being of other people, being of living being and being of liberated being.
所以者何 我相卽是非相 人相衆生相壽者相 卽是非相
何以故 離一切諸相 卽名諸佛
What is the reason?
Being of I is not any being of I.
Being of other people, being of living being and being of liberated being is not real being as to be experienced.
What is the reason? Because, breaking out the being of the whole being, is just named Buddha.
佛告須菩提
如是如是 若復有人 得聞是經 不驚不怖不畏 當知是人甚爲希有
Buddha said to Subhuti.
That is right, just right.
Again there are people who listen this Sutra, but they are not suprised nor afraid nor scared, then they must be known as so rarest people.
何以故 須菩提 如來說第一波羅蜜 卽非第一波羅蜜 是名第一波羅蜜 須菩提 忍辱波羅蜜 如來說非忍辱波羅蜜
What is the reason?
Subhuti. Nyearae's saying the first charity Paramita is not the being of the first charity Paramita. So is named the first charity Paramita.
Subhuti.
For the enduring Paramita, Nyearae say, it's not the being of enduring Paramita.
何以故 須菩提 如我昔爲歌利王割截身體 我於爾時無我相 無人相 無衆生相 無壽者相
Why is that?
Subhuti. Like this. I, on ancient time, let Kali king to cut my body into pieces.
I, on that moment, had no being of I, no being of other being, no being of living being and no being of liberated being.
何以故 我於往昔節節支解時 若有我相 人相 衆生相 壽者相 應生瞋恨
What is the reason?
On that moment, arms and legs being cut away into pieces, if I had gotten the being of I, being of other people, being of living being and being of liberated being, might had been caught by the springing up angry and hating.
須菩提 又念過去於五百世 作忍辱仙人 於爾所世 無我相 無人相 無衆生相 無壽者相
Subhuti. Again I remember the past five hundred lives, I had practiced to become the enduring hermit.
At those whole time, there was no being of I, no being of other people, no being of living being and no being of liberated being.
是故 須菩提 菩薩 應離一切相
發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 不應住色生心 不應住聲香味觸法生心
Therefore Subhuti.
Bodhisattva necessarily must break out the being of the objective being.
Developing the desire for the highest rightest identical enlightment, mind is to be sprung up by nonstaying to any color kind.
By nonstaying on any sound kind, smell kind, tactile kind and meaning kind, mind is to be sprung up.
應生無所住心 若心有住 卽爲非住 是故佛說 菩薩心不應住色布施
Mind must be sprung up through the nonstaying.
When mind is staying, just try not to stay.
Therefore Buddha say Bodhisattva should do charity with the mind of nonstaying on any color kind.
須菩提 菩薩 爲利益一切衆生 應如是布施
Subhuti. Bodhisattva for the benefits of whole living being should do charity necessarily like this way.
如來說 一切諸相 卽是非相 又說一切衆生 卽非衆生
Nyearae's saying of every whole being is just not any being.
More saying of every living being is not any living being.
須菩提 如來是眞語者 實語者 如語者 不誑語者 不異語者
須菩提 如來所得法 此法 無實無虛
Subhuti. Nyearae is just the speaker of the truth, speaker of the reality, speaker of no cheating and speaker of no difference.
Subhuti. Nyearae is said to be endowed with Dharma, but this Dharma is not real existing sort nor unreal nonexisting sort.
須菩提 若菩薩 心住於法而行布施 如人入闇 卽無所見 若菩薩 心不住法而行布施 如人有目 日光明照 見種種色
Subhuti.
When Bodhisattva with his mind staying on any meaning do charity, then he is like the man who enter in the dark, so he never get anything to see.
When Bodhisattva with his mind nonstaying to any meaning do charity, then he is like the man who has the appreciative eye and the sun light is brightly shining, so he can see various kinds of every colors.
須菩提 當來之世 若有善男子善女人 能於此經 受持讀誦 卽爲如來以佛智慧 悉知是人 悉見是人 皆得成就 無量無邊功德
Subhuti. Necessarily, in the future, there are Sunmen and Sunwomen who can accept and keep this Sutra so they will read and recite.
Just as they do this, Nyearae, with Buddha eye, completely know these people and clearly see these whole people to achive uncountable infinite power and result.
須菩提 若有善男子善女人 初日分 以恒河沙等身布施 中日分 復以恒河沙等身布施 後日分 亦以恒河沙等身布施 如是 無量百千萬億劫以身布施
Subhuti. Let's say, there are some Sunmen and Sunwomen, for the first day, they do charity with their bodies as many as Ganges sands. For the middle day, they again do charity with their bodies as many as Ganges sands. For the last day, they also do charity with their bodies as many as Ganges sands.
Like this way, during uncountable hundred thousand billion kalpas, they do charitiy.
若復有人聞此經典 信心不逆 其福勝彼 何況書寫受持讀誦 爲人解說
There might be some other people, who are listening this Sutra but their believing is never opposed, their beneficial resource is more than the former's.
There is no need more to say about the people who copy, accept, read and recite this Sutra or explaining for the other people to understand.
須菩提 以要言之 是經有不可思議 不可稱量 無邊功德
如來爲發大乘者說 爲發最上乘者說 若有人能受持讀誦 廣爲人說 如來 悉知是人 悉見是人 皆得成就不可量 不可稱 無有邊 不可思議 功德 如是人等 卽爲荷擔如來阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
Subhuti. Simply say, this Sutra has miraculous unmeasurable infinite power and resource.
Nyearae say this Sutra for the people who develop the desire to get on the big vehicle, who develop the desire for the highest vehicle.
When there are some people who can accept and keep this Sutra so they read and recite and they do even explain broadly for other people, Nyearae really know and clearly see these every people to achieve innumerable inexpressible infinite miraculous power and result.
This like people all have gotten the share of the burden of Nyearae's the highest rightest indetical enlightenment.
何以故 須菩提 若樂小法者 著我見人見衆生見壽者見 卽於此經不能聽受讀誦 爲人解說
What is the reason?
Subhuti. When people enjoy to learn various small meanings, they have attached on the view of I being, the view of other people's being, the view of living being's being and the view of liberated being's being.
They can't carefully listen to this Sutra, so they can't accept, diligently read nor recite enough to explain for other people to understand.
須菩提 在在處處 若有此經 一切世間天人阿修羅 所應供養
當知此處卽爲是塔 皆應恭敬作禮 圍繞以諸華 香而散其處
Subhuti. Any being and everywhere when this Sutra is on, this place is where the whole world's heaven people and asuras necessarily do offering.
This place must be known just as the Pagoda, the whole necessarily pay sincere respecting homage and they decorate over with every flowers so the fragrance always spread out.
復次 須菩提 善男子善女人 受持讀誦此經 若爲人輕賤 是人先世罪業 應墮惡道 以今世人 輕賤故 先世罪業 卽爲消滅 當得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
More than this, Subhuti.
When Sunmen and women, because of the reason as they are accepting and keeping this Sutra, so they are blamed from other people, these people, according merely to the bad karma causes of the past lives, might be fallen into wrong world.
But now the emerging people are blaming so the past bad karmas are naturally extinguished.
Therefore they spontaneously enlighten the highest rightest identical enlightenment.
須菩提 我念過去 無量阿僧祇劫 於然燈佛前 得値八百四千萬億那由他諸佛 悉皆供養承事 無空過者 若復有人 於後末世 能受持讀誦此經 所得功德 於我所供養諸佛功德 百分不及一 千萬億分乃至算數譬喩 所不能及
Subhuti.
I remember one ancient time of innumerable uncountable kalpas before, before the time of Dipankara Buddha, I had gotten chances to meet eight hundred four thousand billions of various every Buddha, and I had done offerings to one after the other Buddha without any exception, I had not committed any void mystake.
When there are some people in the later world of decadence, who can accept and keep this Sutra, so they keep reading and reciting.
Comparing to their achieving amount of power and resource, my achieving by the offerings to the every Buddhas is less than the hundredth, less than the billionth, mathematical figuration can't be enough to explain.
須菩提 若善男子善女人 於後末世 有受持讀誦此經 所得功德 我若具說者 或有人聞 心則狂亂狐疑不信 須菩提 當知是經義 不可思議 果報亦不可思議
Subhuti.
When there are Sunmen and Sunwomen, later in the world of decadence, who do accept and keep this Sutra so they keep reading and reciting this Sutra.
About their achieving of power and resource, if I explain one after the other, there may be some people, listening to this, they'll lose their mind, they'll become chaotic or they'll doubt only and they finally can't believe it.
Subhuti.
You must know the meaning of this Sutra to be marvelous. The resultant reward of this Sutra is miraculous.
爾時須菩提白佛言
世尊 善男子善女人 發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 云何應住 云何降伏其心
On that time. Subhuti asked Buddha, say.
World Honer.
Sunmen and Sunwomen who developed the desire for the highest rightest identical enlightenment, on what should their mind be stayed?
How should they subdue their mind?
佛告須菩提
善男子善女人 發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提者 當生如是心 我應滅度一切衆生 滅度一切衆生已而無有一衆生實滅度者
Buddha replied to Subhuti.
Sunmen and Sunwomen who developed the desire for the highest rightest identical enlightment must breed up their mind like this way,
I will guide whole living being to be liberated. so I'll have completely guided whole of them to be liberated.
So the result, every living being would have been liberated, but there really can't be any one living being which has gotten any liberatation.
何以故 須菩提 若菩薩 有我相 人相 衆生相 壽者相 卽非菩薩
What is the reason? Subhuti.
If Bodhisattva has, in his mind, the being of I, the being of other people, the being of living being and the being of liberated being, he can't be Bodhisattva.
所以者何 須菩提 實無有法 發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提者
What is the reason? Subhuti.
There can't be any meaning being of the people who develop the desire for the highest rightest identical enlightenment.
須菩提 於意云何 如來於然燈佛所 有法得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Nyearae, at Dipankara Buddha's place, had gotten any Dharma of the highest rightest identical enlightment, hadn't he?
不也 世尊 如我解佛所說義 佛於然燈佛所 無有法得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
No. World Honor.
Like this I understand, according to the meaning of Buddha's preaching, Buddha, at Dipankara' place, hadn't gotten any Dharma of the highest rightest identical enlightment.
佛言
如是如是 須菩提 實無有法如來得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
Buddha agreed.
That's right, just right. Subhuti.
Really, there hadn't been any rel being of Dharma that Nyearae had gotten by the name of the highest rightest identical enlightment.
須菩提 若有法如來得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提者 然燈佛卽不與我受記 汝於來世當得作佛 號釋迦牟尼 以實無有法得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 是故 然燈佛與我受記 作是言 汝於來世 當得作佛 號釋迦牟尼
Subhuti.
If there had been any Dharma, so Nyearae had gotten the highest rightest identical enlighenment, Dipankara Buddha couldn't have affirmed to me that I, on this world, surely become Buddha who called by Shakamuni.
I really hadn't gotten any Dharma of the highest rightest identical enlightenment, so Dipankara Buddha had affirmed me by this kind of words, "You, next life, surely will become Buddha, called Shakamuni."
何以故 如來者 卽諸法如義 若有人言 如來得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
須菩提 實無有法 佛得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
須菩提 如來所得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 於是中 無實無虛
What's the reason?
The meaning of Nyearae is just that every meaning is the same kind of meaning.
There may be some people who say that Nyearae have gotten the highest rightest identical enlightestment.
Subhuti. There really is not any Dharma that Buddha have gotten by the name of the highest rightest identical enlightenment.
Subhuti. Nyearae has gotten the highest rightest identical enlightment, but the meaning of this is not real existing sort nor unreal nonexisting sort.
是故 如來說 一切法 皆是佛法 須菩提 所言一切法者 卽非一切法 是故 名一切法
須菩提 譬如人身長大
For this reason, Nyearae say every meaning whole is just Buddha's Dharma.
Subhuti. The so called every meaning is not any being of every meaning. Therefore named every meaning.
Subhuti. Like the figuraive expressing word of people with long and big body.
須菩提言
世尊 如來說人身長大 卽爲非大身 是名大身
Subhuti said.
World Honor.
Nyearae's saying of the people with long and big body is not any being of big body, so named big body.
須菩提 菩薩亦如是 若作是言 我當滅度無量衆生 卽不名菩薩
Subhuti. Bodhisattva is also the same.
When he get this kind of thought, "I must guide infinite living being to the Nirvana." then he can't be named Bodhisattva.
何以故 須菩提 實無有法名爲菩薩 是故 佛說一切法 無我無人無衆生無壽者
What is the reason? Subhuti.
There really isn't any existing meaning by the naming of Bodhisattva.
Therefore, Buddha say that every meaning must be free from being of I, free from being of other people, free from being of living being and free from liberated being.
須菩提 若菩薩 作是言 我當莊嚴佛土 是不名菩薩
何以故 如來說莊嚴佛土者 卽非莊嚴 是名莊嚴
Subhuti.
When Bodhisattva get this kind of thought, "I am surely doing serious decorating of Buddha land." then he can't be named Bodhisattva.
What's the reason?
Nyearae's saying of the meaning of the serious decorating of Buddha land is not the being of serious decorating, so is named serious decorating.
須菩提 若菩薩 通達無我法者 如來說名眞是菩薩
Subhuti. When Bodhisattva, throughly mastered the Dharma of non being of I, Nyearae say and name him to be true Bodhisattva.
須菩提 於意云何 如來有肉眼不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Nyearae has body eye, hasn't he?
如是 世尊 如來有肉眼
That's right. World Honor.
Nyearae has body eye.
須菩提 於意云何 如來有天眼不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Nyearae has heaven eye, hasn't he?
如是 世尊 如來有天眼
That's right. World Honor.
Nyearae has heaven eye.
須菩提 於意云何 如來有慧眼不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Nyearae has wisdom eye, hasn't he?
如是 世尊 如來有慧眼
That's right. World Honor.
Nyeaare has wisdom eye.
須菩提 於意云何 如來有法眼不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Nyearae has Dharma eye, hasn't he?
如是 世尊 如來有法眼
That's right. World Honor.
Nyearae has Dharma eye.
須菩提 於意云何 如來有佛眼不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Nyearae has Buddha eye, hasn't he?
如是 世尊 如來有佛眼
That's right. World Honor.
Nyearae has Buddha eye.
須菩提 於意云何 恒河中所有沙 佛說是沙不
Subhuti. What do you say?
In Ganges River there are sands, Buddha had said about the sands, hadn't he?
如是 世尊 如來說是沙
That's right. World Honor.
Nyearae had said about the sands.
須菩提 於意云何 如一恒河中所有沙有如是等恒河 是諸恒河所有沙數佛世界 如是寧爲多不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Suppose, in one Ganges River there are many sands, as the number of sands there are so many Ganges Rivers. As these number of whole sands there are so many Buddha's worlds.
Then the number of worlds is really big, isn't it?
甚多 世尊
Very big. World Honor.
佛告須菩提
爾所國土中所有衆生若干種心 如來悉知 何以故 如來說諸心 皆爲非心 是名爲心 所以者何 須菩提 過去心不可得 現在心不可得 未來心不可得
Buddha said to Subhuti.
As like in this Country there are such living beings who have also several kinds of mind.
But Nyearae clearly see the whole of them. What's the knowhow?
Because, Nyearae's saying every mind is not any being of mind, so named mind.
What is the reason? Subhuti.
Toward past mind can't be gotten.
For this moment mind can't be gotten.
Forward future mind also can't be gotten.
須菩提 於意云何 若有人滿三千大千世界七寶以用布施 是人以是因緣得福多不
Subhuti. What do you say?
When there are some people who full filled seven treasures above the three thousand of big thousand worlds, so they do use the treasures for generous charity, then these people, by the causes of this charity, will get so much beneficial result, won't they?
如是 世尊 此人以是因緣得福甚多
That's so. World Honor.
Those people, by the causes of those charity, will get extremely much beneficial result.
須菩提 若福德有實 如來不說 得福德多 以福德無故 如來說 得福德多
Subhuti. When the beneficial result is really existing being, Nyearae don't say beneficial result is so much.
Because the beneficial result is not any being kind, so Nyearae say they'll get beneficial result so much.
須菩提 於意云何 佛可以具足色身 見不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Buddha, so he has fully possessed the terms of body, can be seen, can't he?
不也 世尊 如來不應以具足色身 見 何以故 如來說具足色身 卽非具足色身 是名具足色身
No. World Honor.
Nyearae, not by fully possessing the terms of body, can be seen.
Because, Nyearae's saying possessing the terms of body is not any being of possessing the terms of body, so is named possessing the terms of body.
須菩提 於意云何 如來可以具足諸相 見不
Subhuti. What do you say?
Nyearae, so he has fully possessed the whole symbol marks, can be seen, can't he?
不也 世尊 如來不應以具足諸相 見 何以故 如來說諸相具足 卽非具足 是名諸相具足
No. World Honor.
Nyearae, not by fully possessing the whole marks, can be seen.
Because, Nyearae's saying possessing the whole marks is not any being of possessing those, so is named possessing the whole marks.
須菩提 汝勿謂 如來作是念 我當有所說法 莫作是念
何以故 若人言 如來有所說法 卽爲謗佛 不能解我所說故
須菩提 說法者無法可說 是名說法
Subhuti. You must not say that Nyearae has gotten this kind of thought "I surely have preached Dharma." Don't get this kind of thought.
Therefore when people say "Nyearae has preached Dharma." then they are critisising Buddha. Because they can't understand what I am saying.
Subhuti. Preaching Dharma can't be any being of Dharma that can be preached, so is named preaching Dharma.
爾時 慧命須菩提白佛言
世尊 頗有衆生 於未來世 聞說是法 生信心不
At that time the wise Subhuti asked qwestion to Buddha, say.
World Honor. Truly there will be some living being, in the far future, who will breed up believing mind, won't there?
佛言
須菩提 彼非衆生 非不衆生
何以故 須菩提 衆生衆生者 如來說非衆生 是名衆生
Buddha said.
Subhuti, those living being is neither living being nor nonliving being.
What is the reason? Subhuti.
Even the living being of living being's saying is, Nyearae say not any being of living being, so is named living being.
須菩提白佛言
世尊 佛得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 爲無所得耶
Subhuti asked Buddha.
World Honor. Buddha have gotten the highest rightest identical enlightenment, but this doesn't say related to any kind of getting possession, does this?
如是如是
須菩提 我於阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 乃至無有少法可得 是名阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
That's right, just right.
Related to the highest rightest identical enlightenment and to the such smallest tiny meaning, I have not gotten anything, so is named the highest rightest identical enlightenment.
復次 須菩提 是法平等無有高下 是名阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
以無我無人無衆生無壽者 修一切善法 卽得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
須菩提 所言善法者 如來說非善法 是名善法
And furthermore, Subhuti.
This Dharma is the equality of no difference, there can't be high nor low, so is named the highest rightest identical enlightenment.
Seeking after no being of I, no being of other people, no being of living being and no being of liberated being, so you do practcing every good meaning, then you'll soon get the highest rightest identical enlightenment.
Subhuti. The words, good meaning is not any being of good meaning, so is named good meaning.
須菩提 若三千大千世界中所有諸須彌山王 如是等七寶聚有人持用布施
若人以此般若波羅蜜經乃至四句偈等 受持讀誦 爲他人說 於前福德百分不及一 百千萬億分乃至算數譬喩 所不能及
Subhuti. Suppose some peole full filled as high as the Sumeru king mountain above three thousands of big thousand worlds. As with the figured amount of seven treasures, so they are doing generous charity.
Other case, there are some other people who are keeping this Prajnaparamita Sutra or only just four lines of this Sutra.
They accepted, keep, read and recite this Sutra, so they do explain for other people. The former's beneficial result can't be reach to the hundredth nor the billionth. So mathmatical figuration can't be adequate to express this.
須菩提 於意云何 汝等勿謂 如來作是念 我當度衆生
須菩提 莫作是念 何以故 實無有衆生如來度者 若有衆生如來度者 如來卽有我人衆生壽者
須菩提 如來說有我者 卽非有我 而凡夫之人以爲有我
須菩提 凡夫者如來說 卽非凡夫
Subhuti. What do you say? You all don't say that Nyearae have gotten this thought "I must guide living being."
Subhuti. Don't get this kind of thought.
What's the reason? There really isn't any living being which Nyearae must guide.
If there is any living being which Nyearae must guide, Nyearae has the being of I, being of other being, being of living being and being of liberated being.
Subhuti. Nyearae's saying the being of I is not any being of I, but common people usually get this for the being of I.
Subhuti. Common people, Nyearae say, is not any being of common people.
須菩提 於意云何 可以三十二相觀如來不
Subhuti. What do you say?
By the thirty two symbol marks you can seek for Buddha, can't you?
須菩提言
如是如是 以三十二相觀如來
Subhuti answered.
Yes, we can. By the thirty two symbol marks, we see Buddha.
佛言
須菩提 若以三十二相觀如來者 轉輪聖王 卽是如來
Buddha said.
Subhuti. If, by thiry two marks you can seek for Nyearae, then world conqueror king might be Nyearae.
須菩提白佛言
世尊 如我解佛所說義 不應以三十二相觀如來
Subhuti corrected his answer to Buddha, say.
World Honor. As I understand the meaning of Buddha's teaching. By the thirty two marks people can't seek for Nyearae.
爾時世尊而說偈言
At this time, World Honor sang a song, say.
若以色見我
以音聲求我
是人行邪道
不能見如來
Who seek for me by color kind?
Who seek for me by sound kind?
Oh, they are on the wrong Road.
How can they find Nyearae?
須菩提 汝若作是念 如來不以具足相故 得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
須菩提 莫作是念 如來不以具足相故 得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提
須菩提 若作是念 發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提者 說諸法斷滅相 莫作是念
何以故 發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心者 於法不說斷滅相
Subhuti. Then you may think other way as like this "Nyearae, though he has not full filled thirty two marks, have gotten the highest rightest identical enlightenment."
Subhuti. Don't think like this way also, "Nyearae haven't full filled thirty two marks, but he has gotten the highest rightest identical enlightenment."
Subhuti. Then you may think again like this way "People who develop the desire for the highest rightest identical enlightenment must say every meaning as to be nonexistent being." Don't think like this way also.
What's the reason?
The people who develop the desire for the highest rightest identical enlightenment don't say any meaning to be nonexistent being.
須菩提 若菩薩以滿恒河沙等世界七寶布施
若復有人 知一切法無我 得成於忍 此菩薩勝前菩薩所得功德 須菩提 以諸菩薩 不受福德故
Subhuti. When some Bodhisattva, with seven treasures full filled as many worlds of the number of Ganges sands, do charity.
There are other people who understand that every meaning has not its identity so he has achieved the enduring paramita.
These Bodhisattva get more power and resource than the former Bodhisattva.
Subhuti. Because these Bodhisattva don't get any beneficial result.
須菩提白佛言
世尊 云何菩薩不受福德
Subhuti asked qwestion to Buddha, say
World Honor. By what reason, Bodhisattva don't get any beneficial result?
須菩提 菩薩所作福德 不應貪著 是故 說不受福德
Subhuti. Because Bodhisattva, to any made beneficial result, don't accept with greedy attachment. Therefore I say, they don't get any beneficial result.
須菩提 若有人言 如來若來若去 若坐若臥 是人不解我所說義
何以故 如來者 無所從來 亦無所去 故名如來
Subhuti. When some people say "Nyearae so came, so went, so sat and so slept." These people don't understand the meaning what I said.
What's the reason?
Because Nyearae is not any coming being from any place, also not any going being to any place, so is named Nyearae.
須菩提 若善男子善女人 以三千大千世界碎爲微塵 於意云何 是微塵衆 寧爲多不
Subhuti. Suppose that Sunmen and Sunwomen, with three thousands of big thousand worlds, are grinding those worlds to tiny dusts. What do you say? These tiny dusts number of living beings are really many, aren't they?
甚多 世尊 何以故 若是微塵衆實有者 佛卽不說是微塵衆 所以者何 佛說微塵衆 卽非微塵衆 是名微塵衆
Extremely many. World Honor.
Because if these tiny dusts of living beings are really existing beings, Buddha never say these for tiny dusts living beings, for this reason, Buddha's saying tiny dusts living beings are not any beings of tiny dusts living beings, so named tiny dusts living beings.
世尊 如來所說 三千大千世界 卽非世界 是名世界 何以故 若世界實有者 卽是一合相 如來說一合相 卽非一合相 是名一合相
World Honor. Nyearae's saying three thousands of big thousand worlds is not any being of worlds, so is named worlds.
What's the reason?
If worlds are really existing beings then these are combined to one universal being, Nyearae's saying one universal being is not any being of one universal being, so is named one universal being.
須菩提 一合相者 卽是不可說 但凡夫之人 貪著其事
Subhuti. What is one univarsal being? This can't be explainable. But common people are easily attached to it.
須菩提 若人言 佛說我見人見衆生見壽者見 須菩提 於意云何 是人解我所說義
Subhuti. When people say there is the fact that Buddha had said about the thought of I, the thought of other people, the thought of living being and the thought of liberated being.
Subhuti, what do you think? Do these people understand the meaning what I say?
不也 世尊 是人不解如來所說義
何以故 世尊說我見人見衆生見壽者見 卽非我見人見衆生見壽者見 是名我見人見衆生見壽者見
No. World Honor. Those people don't understand the meaning what Nyearae said.
Because, World Honor's saying the thought of I, the thought of other people, the thought of living being and the thought of liberated being can't be any kind of being of the thought of I, the thought of other people, the thought of living being and the thought of liberated being.
須菩提 發阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心者 於一切法 應如是知 如是見 如是信解 不生法相 須菩提 所言法相者 如來說卽非法相 是名法相
Subhuti. People, who develop the desire for the highest rightest identical enlightenment, necessarily try to understand every meaning like this way.
They necessarily try to see this way, so they become to believe and see naturally.
So the beingness of whatever meaning can't be sprung up.
Subhuti. Therefore the beingness of meaning is, Nyearae say not any beingness of meaning, so is named the beingness of meaning.
須菩提 若有人以滿無量阿僧祇世界七寶持用布施 若有善男子善女人發菩薩心者 持於此經乃至四句偈等 受持讀誦 爲人演說 其福勝彼
Subhuti. Then suppose there are some people who full filled over infinite uncountable worlds with seven treasures, so they use them for doing charity.
On the other case there are Sunmen and Sunmen who develop the desire for the mind of Bodhisattva, so they keep this Sutra or only keep four lines of this Sutra.
Therefore they accept, keep, read and recite, so they explain the meaning for other people to understand easily.
This beneficial resource is more better then the former's.
云何爲人演說 不取於相 如如不動
Then what knowhow is the explaining for other people?
Never get the beingness of any objective being.
Always be same on the n[안내]태그제한으로등록되지않습니다-xxonmovement.
何以故
What's the reason?
一切有爲法
如夢幻泡影
如露亦如電
應作如是觀
Beingness of whole meaning is
like dream fantasy and bubble shadow.
like dewdrop and flash of lightning.
You should see this.
佛說是經已 長老須菩提及諸比丘比丘尼 優婆塞優婆夷 一切世間天人阿修羅 聞佛所說 皆大歡喜 信受奉行 金剛般若波羅蜜經
Buddha ended the preaching of this Sutra.
The Elder Subhuti and every Bhikus, bhikunis, adorer men and adorer women, every world's heaven people and asuras have listened what Buddha preached, whole have been full filled with great joy.
They have believed and accepted this Sutra.
They have decided to keep respectfully this.
Diamond Prajnaparamita Sutra.
