2. Laid off workers, like Michael Dick, are turning to taxi driving to make money.

Dick was laid off after thirteen years at the financial house UBS, a 75-thousand dollar a year back office job.

"Naturally while I was working at UBS I made a lot more money however I had ten times the amount of stress. the beautiful thing having this business its my own business"
3. "What would you rate the image of new taxi drivers or taxi drivers in general?"
Dont complain you that you cant find a taxi. Classrooms are packed as the newly unemployed mix with traditional immigrant cabbies. New York city says taxi licenses have hit an all time high near 46,000.

"Whenever the economy is doing bad. we do much better. Eye contact is very important."
When you see your next driver it could be a chef.

"Definitely I am a victim of this economy. uh, is a lot less job you know"
4. "I can't speak to you right now. I'm driving"
A cabbie with manners? Who speaks english well and wears a tie?
"I might go like that to warn them but I never do that that kind of thing. it might be a quick to me that's the way a horn should be used"

"I think its wonderful he picked himself up and found something to do"
Not everybody was quick to praise.
"You got to be careful!"
"I'll try to be more careful. I got passengers in here man."

5. He stills misses UBS which he drives by..but..
"Actually I'm a better fit as a cab driver than I was as a banker"
A cabbie banker doesn't faze the next passenger.

Michael Dick says his focus on customer service has brought large tips. he's enjoying the ride.

다음번에 탈 택시 운전기사는 요리사 출신일 수도 있습니다.

"저도 경기침체의 피해자입니다. 일자리가 훨씬 줄었으니까요."
4. "운전 중이라 통화가 곤란해요. 있다가 전화할게요."
매너도 좋고 완벽한 영어 구사와 넥타이까지 맨 택시 기사입니다.
"차가 다가오는 걸 미처 보지 못한 보행자가 있으면 짧게 경적을 울릴 순 있어도, 경적을 요란하게 울리는 일은 없을 겁니다."

"어려움을 털고 일어나 새로운 일을 찾은 건 멋진 일입니다."
하지만 일을 하다 보면 좋은 일만 있는 건 아닙니다.

5. 가끔 옛 직장이 그리울 때도 있지만,
"은행보단 택시 기사가 적성에 더 맞는 것 같습니다."
은행가가 택시 기사로 전업했다는 이야기에 놀랍지 않다는 반응을 보이는 승객도 있습니다.
