Welcome to HobbyLink Japan's latest newsletter devoted to
aircraft models! (Don't want to hear from us? Unsubscribe information
is at the bottom of this
mailing).
As spring approaches, we find ourselves busier each day with new products
arriving at a record pace! We've picked a few that we think deserve a
special place here in our newsletter; but if you don't find something you
like in this list, head on over to our website and to our Advanced Search
page, to look for what you need, by product name, series name, or any of
several other criteria:
Aoshima has re-issued this twin-pack (two full models included)
featuring the Gekko. Two truck models are included as well, to be placed
next to the completed airplanes, for a total added value of four kits in
one box! Markings are included for 4 different airplanes. As a bonus,
nacelle parts and the twin overwing exhaust pipes are included so you can
also build a late model J1N1-S as well.
Mark this F-14D kit with as the VF-2 "Bounty Hunters" CAG bird at one of
two points in its career: participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom, or in
markings commemorating the VF-2's last cruise with the Tomcat. This
model includes all the parts needed to build an accurate D model Tomcat,
plus engines and stands for display, photo-etched parts for the cockpit,
optional rubber tires, a full weapons load... what a deal!
Fujimi's release of this H-60 Blackhawk kit comes with extra antenna
parts to modify it to an electronic warfare EH-60A "Quick Fix". A stand
is provided so you can pose the model "in flight" with the long ventral
antenna deployed!
Modify this D4Y3 kit from Fine Molds, with the included decals and white
metal parts, to represent a modified Model 33 Night Fighter with upward-
firing 20mm cannon. Decals are included for two Atsugi-based aircraft.
Hasegawa's F-100D kit comes with decals to mark it as a very colorful
Super Sabre, assigned to the 31st Tactical Fighter Wing at George AFB,
California, in 1958.
Hasegawa has reissued their fine 1/72 scale T-2 kit, with the addition of
new decals and a white metal instrumentation boom; with these, you can
build and mark the kit as the prototype Mitsubishi XT-2 on its last
flight, in October 2003. Painting instructions are also included for the
number 1 T-2 at its roll-out in 1971.
This 1/48 scale F-86 kit from Hasegawa comes with decals to mark it as a
Canadair Sabre Mk. 6 "Black Tulip", as flown by Major Erich Hartmann when
he was commander of JG71 "Richtofen": in a natural metal finish from
1961, or fully camoflaged as flown in 1962. Resin wing tips are included
to make the shorter-span wings of the Mk. 6, as well as a white metal
cranked pitot tube.
Another reissue from Hasegawa is a 1/200 scale C-130H with decals
representing special markings used by the JASDF in 2004. Two kits are
included in the box: one in blue plastic, to be used to build the new
"powder blue" scheme applied to the aircraft sent to operate in and out
of Iraq; and one in gray plastic, to be used to build an aircraft in the
standard gray and green scheme used by aircraft assigned to assist the
UN. Markings are included for 3 "powder blue" aircraft and 2 camouflaged
UN Assistance aircraft.
Academy has announced the release of their much-rumored Crusader! Fans
of "The Last Gunfighter" have waited years for a new, state-of-the-art 1/
72 kit, and here it is! Coming in March.
The P-38 is one of those planes pretty much anyone can pick out of a
lineup, and now we have a new-tool kit of it in 1/72! Since Academy's 1/
48 offerings are widely heralded as the best Lightning in that scale, we
think it is safe to say that this kit will be THE P-38 for 1/72 scale
fans! Also slated for a March release.
Following on the heels of their excellent F/A-18F kit, Hasegawa announces
the release of the single-seat E version. All the excellent detail and
fit that characterized their F version make this kit a must-have for
modern US Naval Aviation and jet fans! Due in March.
Sweet has built a reputation for producing beautiful and easy-to-assemble
1/144 World War II fighters, and they continue their success with one of
the most famous planes of that war, the Zero! Like their previous
releases, this kit will have you reaching for the magnifying glass so you
can better see the exquisite detail and finesse that are hallmarks of
Sweet. Coming in April!
Someone shrunk the Jug! Tamiya's 1/48 Thunderbolts have established a
reputation as the BEST 1/48 Jugs currently available - and now Tamiya
sets out to conquer the 1/72 Jug market! The detail and fidelity to
scale of this kit are guaranteed to have you passing your other 1/72
Razorbacks to the kids, because you won't need them anymore! To be
released in March.
Thanks for reading, everyone!
