Top foreign language education institutes win prizes
The top 33 foreign language education institutes have won prizes for developing language education with their superb programs and a great contribution to the nation's competitiveness.
Herald Media Inc., the publisher of Korea's leading English newspaper and an English educational company, presented the 2005 Korea Foreign Language Education Awards to the institutes in nine English education fields. The awards were sponsored by the Korea Association of Teachers of English.
The three winners in the educational institutes category include the Institute of Foreign Language Studies at Korea University.
The institute has successfully combined three different types of educational programs - regular programs, enrichment programs designed to meet various needs and cultural programs aimed at promoting Korean language and culture throughout the world.
The award was also presented to 12 language schools including GnB English Education Co., Ltd.
The GnB Company has invented a unique patented methodology centered on speaking, attracting 30,000 members in two years since the program was introduced.
In the educational institutes category, two companies including Brainy from Doosan Donga was honored with the awards and in online English education, four companies including EBRI SOFT was selected.
Brainy is designed to offer elementary students the opportunity to acquire fundamental English ability and self-confidence in using the language through its integrated and comprehensive system.
EBRI SOFT runs an educational website at www.norischool.com which also performs as an online community where children exchange conversations in English and play games.
Other than those companies, 12 companies won the prizes in the categories of learning aids, publications, information services, state qualification tests and others.
