My father's barbershop had only one client.
He ran his shop from his home where he and my mother lived.
Recently it closed due to the sale of the home he was living.
He and my beloved mother moved temporarily to my elder brother's house,
and planned to either purchase a new condo or move to my brother's other residence in California.
I was his only client. The only tools were a ragged chair, scissors and an electric shaver.
No mirror or razors were prepared.
He was lucky to have this one client, since that client rejected most of his invitations;
not wanting to spend much time getting his hair cut.
Saving money on his son's haircut and the acknowledgement of this skill at the age of
84 were enough reasons for my father’s pleasure in doing so.
The barber's skill wasn't the issue behind having such a low numbers of clients.
Rather, the issue was his clients' cooperation toward such invitations from the barber.
The real reason for these refusals from other potential clients (two of my sons),
for the free hair cuts was his technique of barbering.
Though I personally recognized the barber's technique, such skill wasn't recognized by others.
Maybe I am not a picky client after all.
The barber did not ever charge for his service to anybody. It was free anytime.
Upon the sale of the house he was living, the barbershop had to close since the shop
was located inside of the house.
It's a sad story for me and the barbershop.
I miss the barber and the barber shop quite a bit.
Although the barber is still healthy, he is not a barber for me any longer and furthermore,
his main place of business is gone.
