Janet Yellen warns of overproduction to China
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in China and criticized China’s overproduction.
Janet Yellen visited China and held talks with Li Qiang on April 7 and stressed that China should refrain from its mass production, according to Reuters.
Yellen added that the U.S and China have the duty to manage the complicated relationship responsibly and expressed that over the past year, they have put their relationship on stable ground.
Li responded to Yellen by reiterating China’s previous statement that the two nations must come together as partners, adding that China believes the bi-lateral relationship has strategically improved with Yellen’s visit
Their meeting comes after the heads of two nations agreed to manage the crisis at a summit which took place in San Francisco last November. The visit marks Yellen’s second visit to China in nine months.
Yellen also pointed out China’s mass production crisis during a meeting with Vice Premier He. After the meeting, she wrote on her X account, “We have agreed to have a conversation on balanced growth for the worldwide economy. We will discuss mass production, and arrange a market where American workers and firms can compete fairly.”
The Biden administration has been launching action against China on its mass production.
