Dear I.M,
Okay so the other day...I think it was Wednesday, I was doing research because I've been trying to increase traffic to my blog as well as increasing my YouTube subscribers. I published a review of Overdrive so I was trying to figure out how to increase traffic to the blog post.
The YouTube video has been getting some hits but nothing was happening on the blog. So I googled "why aren't my new posts getting traffic" and somehow I come across all of these ridiculously negative blog posts literally titled: "Why no one is reading your blog"
I.M, lol isn't that the most negative, meanest thing you've ever heard?! I mean come on. The goal of the blog post is to offer advice on blogging but they're doing so by putting people down. And that is NOT okay.
Abuse is abuse. And I consider that a form of cyberbullying. Also what makes it worse is it's being disguised as if they want to help people. So if you want to help people, be positive and uplift them.
If this wasn't enough, I started googling "I.M Overdrive album review" to see if my post would pop up and it didn't. After doing that search, I realized that all the blogs that get hundreds of thousands or millions of views came up first. Next were all the K-Pop stores selling copies of Overdrive. So of course me the newbie to K-Pop blogging wasn't getting any traffic.
Also during this search, I came across some really negative reviews of Overdrive. One review was straight up making fun of you and MONSTA X. It was pretty gross.
This is when I realized how much negativity really exists online. It's important to note this because people abusing each other online is starting to lead to people abusing each other in real life.
I mean if people are always on their phones consuming all that negative content then it's going to come out one way or the other. This is why so many people are abusing their significant other, children, family members and friends.
That's why as of last Saturday, I deleted Reddit and Twitter (again) and I've stopped reading comments. I can't and won't consume any of that negativity anymore.
And don't worry, I'm going to keep going with my blog, YouTube channel and business. My goal is to increase blog readers and channel subscribers and convert them into paying customers. It's just going to take time.
But I will become a top K-Pop and R&B Blogger so I can interview I.M and MONSTA X and ask actually thoughtful and engaging questions. I'd also like to collaborate in other ways.
Anyway, this letter is long enough. Stay healthy, happy and safe.
You've got the crown, now take the throne. ⬛👑💜
Peace & Blessings,
Penny
