I have completed my own unofficial Grand Theft Auto IV teaser trailer:
Expectations shouldn't be skyrocketing for the video, though, as I must say before you watch it that it does not contain any video, images or information from Grand Theft Auto IV...since nothing has been released yet. Be sure to read the Trailer Q&A where I answer 19 questions you probably have about the video. Read those before commenting below. Thank you.
Update: Medium resolution Quicktime and high resolution Windows Media versions are now available in addition to the high resolution Quicktime version.

Grand Theft Auto IV Teaser Trailer - PlanetGTA.com
This is a fan made teaser trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV created by Jordan Liles of PlanetGTA.com
Q&A
Question #1: Tell me about the music used in the trailer.
Answer: It's "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves," a song played on Double Clef FM in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.
Question #2: Why isn't there any Grand Theft Auto IV content in the Grand Theft Auto IV teaser trailer?
Answer: That's unrealistic. If you are a true fan of the GTA series, you would know that as of July 2006 (the date this video was released), there is no GTA IV content whatsoever anywhere.
Question #3: Why was this trailer made?
Answer: Personally, I got tired of seeing so-called Grand Theft Auto IV trailers that were made with horrible quality in Windows Movie Maker. Also, some fan made trailers for GTA IV use video from GTA-style games such as Saint's Row or True Crime: Streets of LA. Not only does this do a disservice to Rockstar Games, the creator of the GTA franchise, but it's also insulting to many GTA fans. I set out to create the definitive Grand Theft Auto IV teaser trailer, and I am proud of what I have accomplished.
Question #4: What style did you use in editing?
Answer: First, I watched the official trailers for GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas. My goal was to replicate the style from those trailers. In my trailer, watch how the words "Grand Theft Auto III" come onto the screen. It was done exactly like that in the original GTA III trailer. Also, in the Vice City portion of my trailer, notice that I used a "vertical strips" transition twice, the same transition used in the original Vice City trailers.
Question #5: How did you capture video of GTA, GTA: London 1969: Mission Pack #1, and GTA2?
Answer: Not on the PC. People have run into difficulties with that for a long time due to the games architecture being dated and screen recording programs not functioning properly with them. I went out one day to several stores that sell used PlayStation One games, and I found all three at different locations. Then, I hooked the PlayStation 2 up to my camera and captured away.
Question #6: I saw a cut scene in the trailer that wasn't in the GTA games. Why?
Answer: I configured all of the video I captured from the games to where all of the shots have a 16:9 aspect ratio, but not all are cut scenes.
Question #7: What font did you use?
Answer: MemphisTMedium. Rockstar Games has used it in the past for official trailers. I bought it at a fonts website for $20.
Question #8: Do you (Jordan) work for Rockstar?
Answer: No, I do not. This video is completely fan made. Rockstar had no involvement in the creation of the trailer.
Question #9: When will a real GTA IV trailer be released by Rockstar?
Answer: No news on this, but I wouldn't expect anything in 2006. However, Rockstar underwent a lot of PR personnel changes in 2005 and 2006, so a new marketing strategy may be employed. If Rockstar stays to what they've done in the past, there won't be a GTA IV trailer until at least mid-2007.
Question #10: What other videos have you (Jordan) created?
Answer: GTA Trilogy Tribute (trailer), Vice City Tribute (trailer/stunt), Liberty City Tribute (trailer/informational), The Real Los Santos (extended preview), The Hot Coffee Effect (satire), Decan's Auto Stunt Reel (first Vice City stunt video), Vice City: Miss This (first Vice City community stunt video) and others. Download them all at www.planetgta.com or search for them on YouTube.com
Question #11: Will Rockstar Games developers watch this trailer?
Answer: I hope. I will certainly contact them about it.
Question #12: Can I host this on my website or show it in another capacity (TV, etc)?
Answer: Yes, go ahead. If you want to show it on TV or host it on a website or in another capacity, please e-mail me at jordan@planetgrandtheftauto.com letting me know where it is.
Question #13: Why did you concentrate so little on GTA for the Game Boy Advance and also on Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories?
Answer: I fully respect them, but concentrating on them for long periods of time like I did with GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas would be strange. Those three games are core GTA titles. The portable versions just don't deserve the same attention. However, they are all very enjoyable.
Question #14: Where are your sources for the dates when GTA games were released?
Answer: www.rockstargames.com/grandtheftauto
Question #15: What did you use to edit?
Answer: Avid Xpress Pro HD. And yes, I used a legal version. Avid software is genius, and miles ahead of anything Adobe, Ulead or Apple. The majority of major motion pictures and TV shows are edited with Avid software for a reason.
Question #16: What was that video clip that played right before the San Andreas segment in the trailer?
Answer: That was from E3 2004 where Rockstar unveiled all of the details about Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The shot was my first-person view of me walking inside the doors.
Question #17: What is that GTA III artwork used right before the Vice City segment?
Answer: It's from the European box art. North America had a different box art that was more boring.
Question #18: Why is a snowy shot of Liberty City in the San Andreas segment of the trailer?
Answer: If you've played GTA: San Andreas, you know that you go back to Liberty City in the game for one mission. That shot is from a cut scene in San Andreas.
Question #19: Why is this file so big? Use H.264 man! It's the nerd's favorite video codec of the future!
Answer: I compressed with H.264 multiple times at multiple qualities and didn't see much of a difference between it and Sorenson 3. 5-10 megabytes dropped off when using H.264 but so did a little quality. Just because Apple uses the codec for their HD trailers doesn't mean it's the best for everything.
