Macedonia and Greece
1-2
With things back to normal,
Paul called the disciples together and encouraged them to keep up the good work in Ephesus.
Then, saying his good-byes, he left /for Macedonia.
Traveling through the country, passing from one gathering to another,
he gave constant encouragement, lifting their spirits and charging them with fresh hope.
* call (a group) together ... To ask people to gather, typically to discuss a specific topic or issue.

Then he came /to Greece and stayed on /for three months.
Just as he was about to sail /for Syria, the Jews cooked up a plot /against him.
So he went the other way, by land back through Macedonia, and gave them the slip.
His companions for the journey were Sopater, son of Pyrrhus, from Berea;
Aristarchus and Secundus, both Thessalonians; Gaius from Derbe;
Timothy; and the two from western Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

한인끼리는 이미 성경에 쓰인 인명/지명대로 해야 통하기 때문에 굳이 원음으로 해야 할 이유는 없지만

지명/인명의 발음 또한 영어나 스페인, 라틴어 등 각 나라별로 차이가 있으므로 우린 우리 식대로 하면 된다 봄

They went on ahead and waited for us in Troas.
Meanwhile, we stayed in Philippi for Passover Week, and then set sail.
Within five days we were again in Troas and stayed a week.

We met on Sunday /to worship and celebrate the Master’s Supper.
Paul addressed the congregation.
Our plan was to leave first thing in the morning,
but Paul talked on, way past midnight.

신약 어디에서 주일성수를 명령하는 구절은 없기에 율법인 안식일 성수 같은 '성수'라는 말을 쓰는 것보다는
신약 성도들이 주의 날/일요일 날 모였으니 우리도 모이자 하면 율법으로 들리지 않아 좋다 보임
( 사실 바울은 안식일 날 회당에서 설교한 날이 많았지만 율법 준수로 한 것은 아니었음)
We were meeting in a well-lighted upper room.
A young man /named Eutychus was sitting in an open window.
As Paul went on and on,
Eutychus fell sound asleep and toppled /out the third-story window.
When they picked him up, he was dead.

When 그때 they picked 일으켰을 때 him up 그를, he was dead 그는 죽은 상태였다/죽었었다.

Paul went down, stretched himself on him, and hugged him hard.
“No more crying,” he said. “There’s life in him yet.”
Then Paul got up and served the Master’s Supper.
And went on telling stories of the faith /until dawn!
On that note, they left

In the meantime, the rest of us had gone on ahead to the ship
and sailed for Assos, where we planned [to pick up Paul].
Paul wanted [to walk there], and so had made these arrangements earlier.
Things went according to plan:

He was in a hurry to get to Jerusalem in time for the Feast of Pentecost, if at all possible.

When they arrived, he said, “You know that from day one of my arrival in Asia I was with you totally—laying my life on the line,

강한 신념의 반대자가 동률로 강한 반대편에 굴복할 여지는 마른하늘 아래 벼락 맞을 확률이라
청산유수 변론으로 개종시키기는 계란으로 바위 치기니 오직 다메섹 도상의 천지개벽 기적만이 답이었다 봄
(약도 없다는 렘17:9 자기기만을 깰 유일한 방법은 마른하늘의 날벼락 - 하나님의 초자연적 기적뿐임)
I didn’t skimp or trim in any way.
[Every truth and encouragement //that could have made a difference to you], you got.
I taught you out in public and I taught you in your homes,
urging Jews and Greeks alike /to a radical life-change before God and an equally radical trust in our Master Jesus.
* Skimp ; 1. to be extremely sparing or supply (someone) sparingly; stint
2. to perform (work, etc) carelessly, hastily, or with inadequate materials

“But there is another urgency before me now.
I feel compelled to go to Jerusalem.
I’m completely in the dark about what will happen when I get there.
I do know that it won’t be any picnic,
for the Holy Spirit has let me know repeatedly and clearly that there are hard times and imprisonment ahead.

But that matters little.
[What matters most to me] is to finish what God started:
the job () the Master Jesus gave me
/of letting [everyone () I meet] know all about this incredibly extravagant generosity of God.

“And so this is good-bye.
You’re not going to see me again, nor I you,
you //whom I have gone among /for so long /proclaiming the news of God’s inaugurated kingdom.
I’ve done my best for you, given you my all, held back nothing of God’s will for you.

중국 선교사이신 이삭 목사님은 중국인 신자와 붙들고 울었다는 고백도 들었는데
참 사랑은 국적/지역을 불문/무차별해야 참 사랑이라 본다
그리스도께서도 예루살렘을 향하여 우셨다 Jesus wept.
바울의 3차 선교여행, 왕복 1700km의 거리로서 3년에 걸친 여행이었다.
