In the lecture, the lecture
strongly argues that it has some severe flaw to coal becoming a clean energy
source. This contradicts the reading passage’s claim that several methods are being
pursued that make coal without harming environment a realistic goal. In fact, the
reading is somewhat wrong, less convincing, and exaggerated.
First, the speaker maintains that gasification
is not good solution even it has been touted as environmentally friendly. For
the coal become to gas, it must be heated. For heat the coal it requires
burning of fossil fuels and it release harmful emissions. This casts doubt on the
reading passage’s argument that transforming coal in to gas is promising
development.
Second, the
professor insists on the fact that static electricity to clean the air is no
better. This is because collection plated collect only soot and ash particles. This
rebuts the reading passage’s insistence that using static electricity can
extract the pollutants by the coals.
The last,
the lecturer believes that fabric filters requires lots of money. The filter
bags have very short lifespan, and changing them often is not cost-effective.
Also the ventilator for pass
the gas to filter bags needs much energy. This refutes the reading passage’s
assertion that fabric filter is good option to reducing coal’s impact.
