A
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23-24)
Abide in me and I in you... for apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:4-5)
As a man think in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7)
Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person.
The past is forgotten, and everything is new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare. (Proverbs 15:1)
1 As for you, don’t you remember how you used to just exist?
Corpses, dead in life, buried by transgressions, 2 wandering the course of this perverse world.
You were the offspring of the prince of the power of air
—oh, how he owned you, just as he still controls those living in disobedience.
I’m not talking about the outsiders alone;
3 we were all guilty of falling headlong for the persuasive passions of this world;
we all have had our fill of indulging the flesh and mind,
obeying impulses to follow perverse thoughts /motivated by dark powers.
As a result, our natural inclinations led us to be children of wrath, just like the rest of humankind.
4 But God, with the unfathomable richness of His love and mercy /focused on us,
5 united us with the Anointed One and infused our lifeless souls with life
—even though we were buried under mountains of sin—and saved us by His grace. (Ephesians 2:1-5, Voice)
B

But Christ has shown me that [what I once thought was valuable] is worthless.
Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage.
[All I want] is Christ and to know that I belong to him.
I could not make myself acceptable to God by obeying the Law of Moses.
God accepted me simply because of my faith in Christ. Philippians 3:7-9 (CEV)
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
[whatever they do] prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
C
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. (Philippians 2:12-13)
Christ has shown me that [what I once thought was valuable] is worthless.
(Philippians 3:7-9)
D
Do to others what you would have them do to you,
for this sums up the Law and the prophets. (Luke 6:31)
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit (Philippians 2:3)

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. (Philippians 4:6)
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world,

Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect (Romans 12:2)
Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged,
and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?
4 How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’
when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?
5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye;
then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye. (마7:1-5 NIV)
(MSG 마7:1-5)
Don’t pick on people, jump on their
failures, criticize their faults
— unless, of course, you want the same
treatment.
That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging.
It’s easy to
see a smudge on your neighbor’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer
on your own.
Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt?
It’s this whole
traveling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou
part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your
own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor.
*jump on ; criticize (someone) suddenly and severely.
Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you.
Live clean, innocent lives as children of God,
shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ's return,
I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. (Philippians 2:14-16)
“Don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or if the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your inner life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the ravens, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, carefree in the care of God. And you count far more.
25-28 “Has
anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an
inch? If fussing can’t even
do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance
—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The
ten best-dressed men and women in the country
look shabby alongside
them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never
even seen,
don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?
29-32 “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. [People who don’t know God and the way he works] fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.
* is (to) get you to relax, not (to) be so preoccupied
(Luke 12:22-28 MSG)

For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them?
In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
What we have received is not the spirit of the world,
but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.
This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit,
explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God
but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (Numbers 23:19)

1 Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins.
2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil
—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. (the commander of the power of the air.)
He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.
3 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature.
By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,
5 that even though we were dead because of our sins,
he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.
(It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) (Ephesians 2:1-5)

Call on him now while he is near.
7 Let the wicked change their ways
and banish the very thought of doing wrong.
Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.
Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.
8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
10 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.
11 It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
12 You will live in joy and peace.
The mountains and hills will burst into song,
and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
13 Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow.
Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up.
These events will bring great honor to the Lord’s name;
they will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.” (Isaiah 55:6-13)
Seek God while he’s here to be found,
pray to him while he’s close at hand.
Let the wicked abandon their way of life
and the evil their way of thinking.

8-11 “I don’t think the way you think.
The way you work isn’t the way I work.”

“For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.
Just as rain and snow descend from the skies
and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth,
Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,
producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry,
So will the words that come out of my mouth
not come back empty-handed.
They’ll do the work I sent them to do,
they’ll complete the assignment I gave them. (MSG)
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves,
you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive anyone who offends you.
Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
Above all, clothe yourselves with love,
which binds us all together in perfect harmony (Colossians 3:12-14, NLT).
Suppose wicked people stop sinning and start obeying my laws and doing right.
They won’t be put to death.
All their sins will be forgiven, and they will live because they did right.
I, the Lord God, don’t like to see wicked people die. I enjoy seeing them turn from their sins and live.
But when good people start sinning and doing disgusting things, will they live? No!
All their good deeds will be forgotten, and they will be put to death because of their sins.
You people of Israel accuse me of being unfair! But listen—I’m not unfair; you are!
If good people start doing evil, they must be put to death, because they have sinned.
And if wicked people start doing right, they will save themselves from punishment.
They will think about what they’ve done and stop sinning, and so they won’t be put to death.
But you still say that I am unfair. You are the ones who have done wrong and are unfair!
I will judge each of you for what you’ve done. So stop sinning, or else you will certainly be punished.
Give up your evil ways and start thinking pure thoughts. And be faithful to me!
Do you really want to be put to death for your sins?
I, the Lord God, don’t want to see that happen to anyone. So stop sinning and live! (Ezekiel 18:21-32 CEV)

for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever. (Psalms 23)

In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. (1 Corinthians 2:11)
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. (Hebrews 12:2)
We live by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14)
What you think is the right road may lead to death. (Proverbs 14:12)
we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen,
since [what is seen] is temporary, but [what is unseen] is eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18).
Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. (Philippians 2:12-13)
Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:1-6)
MSG
Who believes what we’ve heard and seen?
Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this?
The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling,
a scrubby plant in a parched field.
There was nothing attractive about him,
nothing to cause us to take a second look.
He was looked down on and passed over,
a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand.
One look at him and people turned away.
We looked down on him, thought he was scum.
But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him,
that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He took the punishment, and that made us whole.
Through his bruises we get healed.
We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost.
We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way.
And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong,
on him, on him.
Still, it’s what God had in mind all along,
to crush him with pain.
The plan was that he give himself as an offering for sin
so that he’d see life come from it—life, life, and more life.
And God’s plan will deeply prosper through him.
Out of that terrible travail of soul,
he’ll see that it’s worth it and be glad he did it.
Through what he experienced, my righteous one, my servant,
will make many “righteous ones,”
as he himself carries the burden of their sins.

If any of you wants to be my follower,
you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. (Mark 8:34)

You were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body. (1 Corinthians 6:20)
You are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes
(Galatians 3:26-27)
You, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand. (Isaiah 64:8)
Your body is a temple where the Holy Spirit lives.
The Spirit is in you and is a gift from God. You are no longer your own. (1 Corinthians 6:19)
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.(Philippians 2:5-8)
