Grandma's Sunday
동인초등학교 5학년 김혜린
Today, I would like to talk about my grandma
Every Saturday, my grandma visits my home to go to church with my family on Sundays.
Every Sunday morning, around 7
I can hear my grandma's voice.
" Today is going to be a beautiful day ".
I can guess that she is looking after pots in the porch.
Soy sauce, Bean paste, and Red hot pepper paste is the most important to her.
She talks to my mam.
" You should open the pot lid all day because the sun shine is so good today.
Do not buy any of sauce if I die.
You must make it yourself.
That keeps your family always healthy."
I know my grandma believes that her good health comes from home made sauce.
I agree with her belief because I think I am healthy as I like Bean paste soup.
I can hear her voice again.
" How are you, babies ? "
I know she talks to her flowers.
" How lovely! How are you today? Aren't you thirsty?
I will give you enough water.
Please keep growing well."
I am very curious about my grandma's hands.
Whenever she takes care of the plants, the plants flowers even the plants are dying.
One day, I asked her about her magic hands.
She told me it is love. The plants need love just like you.
Even the plants keep silence, they know who loves them Now, I know why grandma always tells the plants,
" I love you all, I love you all. "
I can guess she finishes her Sunday mornings work, if I see her smily face.
I think that my grandma is healthier and prettier than the other grandmas.
My next door old lady looks so sad. She always looks at the playground even though nobody is there.
Maybe the old lady doesn't have any plants,
A-ha, I have a good idea. I will give her a little gift, seeds.
After seeds sprout and make flowers,
I am sure , I can see her smile.
I know that today is going to be very busy.
After I come back home from church,
I will go to the flower shop to buy a seed. And I will give the seeds to her.
I hope, I can see her smile very soon.
Neighbors around
도곡초등학교 6학년 최고야
Hello? I'm Go-ya, Choe and I am in the 6th grade in Namyangjoo Dogok elementary school.
A couple of days after I joined collecting campaign for Yongchon children of north Korea, I have read articles of hungry kids in a newspaper. It was not the story of foreign countries, and not of the north Korea, either. It was the story of our nearer neighbors in my country, Korea.
I would like to introduce some of the stories ;
"I AM SIMPLY STARVING." This is a scribbling that a kid wrote on the wall of his house. He ate nothing that day, because his grandmother, who takes care of him, became sick. The first son can have lunch at school but his brother can't even eat that because he doesn't go to school.
There is a kid, who lives alone, too. His parents left home. so his grandmother comes over to make him something to eat. One day she said, "What should I do for this poor thing? Who will give him food, if I die?" The kid said it's his dream to be a professional golf player. He said, he will make lots of money, and make his grandmother recover from illness. I think this case seems hopeful.
Besides, some kids get a little amount of lunch that is delivered by foodbank, so we call. Some starving kids don't eat lunch at school, because others may think that they go to school just to get some food, and some kids haven't even experienced parental love.
There are many charity organizations that help starving kids, but they are not enough for all those starving children. Helping with food and money is a good thing, but I think the real help they need is 'LOVE'. It is surprising that only about 15 percent of all the starving kids have their both parents. Childhood is the time we should cherish great visions for the future. There couldn't be any more regretful thing than not having fun in one's childhood.
If you could help all those poor children from Yongchon, and from the foreign countries, it will be a great thing. But there must be poor neighbors around that we don't find. We should share love, and be kind to them. That is the right way to live our life. Let's just look around. Beginning from the small things is the very first step to help poor neighbors.
The diet
도심초등학교 5학년 윤혜원
Hello, everyone!
My name is hae won. I go to Dosim elementary school.
Lately, the world worries over the war in Iraq. But, a war broke out in our house
It is 'Meat war'
Let me tell you what this means.
There are many foods that make us fat.
All of them are greasy and high calory foods. For example, many kinds of bread or fried chicken.
Western people like this kind of food.
No wander they are so overweight.
So we must care about our eating habits.
If we eat oilless korean food it's good for your health.
And, you should not be on an excessive diet. Excessive diet does more harm than good to your health.
I recommend exercise.
Exercise is good for health, and effective in losing weight.
First you can do easy exercises like skipping or jogging and little by little gain strength.
Making a diet plan is also a good way.
You can ask specialist about what diet works best?
But I have a question. Do we have to go ona diet?
Well, I think a suitable diet is good for health.
But I don't always agree that dieting is a good thing
People want to lose weight for not just health but their looks. Of course, beauty is part of your personality, too.
After all, I think taking a suitable diet for you is the most effective way.
Thank you.
I like Sunday.
진건초등학교 5학년 김주연
Hi, everyone.
I'm very happy to be here and introduce myself to you in English. I'm Kim Ju Eun, 13 years old and attending JinGun elementary school. I'm very normal elementary school girl who doesn't like to study but like to play with friends very much. I'd like to tell you about my favorite day, Sunday and what I do with my family. Usually Sunday morning I'm with my friend. Her parents work on Sunday so she and I play together. She tells me about her school life. She laughs and I laugh, we laugh at everything. After we eat lunch, we go to her house and sit on a chair together and play computer games all afternoon. Coming back my home, I wash my hands, clean my room and wash my clothes with washing-machine. After I finish it, I do my homework. Every other Sunday, my family go to Suwon which my grandmother lives. My grandmother is very kind and cooks very nice. She serves us a very delicious meal anytime. Sometimes we meet other relatives there and have a good time together. Late in the evening, we have a family discussion, when some relatives meet sad things, we cheer them up and when other relatives have a good luck, we congratulate them together. So I like Sunday very much. What is your favorite day? Thank you very much.
Did you know we have to economize on water?
오남초등학교 6학년 박상혁
" Even if we have a little money, we can use as much water as we want." the common people used to
say. We thought water was plentiful. We used to use it any time and we never felt it was limited. But now our nation Korea, has a lack of water. Water has been dried up gradually all over the world. Some reasons for this are the thoughtless destruction of the environment and our waste of the everyday water supply. We need to take countermeasures, in order to stop the waste of water. First, let's think about the economy of water at home. We should use only a little when we brush our teeth. so, we should put a brick into the toilet bowl to save water.
Although these ways might seem small ways to economize on water at home, if many people were to do this we could save a lot of water. We need to try and plant a lot of trees on the mountains to economize on water, many plans have been made to economize on water. Since we are part of a nation that lacks water, many plans have been made to economize on water usage by the government. You can see some commercials and programs on television that are part of these efforts. They give us a lot of information on how to change our bad habits.
We must save water for the future. For the past 50 years, humans have been at peace and we have avoided war, even in Iraq. One day, the U.S.A attacked Iraq. Their purpose was to get more energy from oil. That was the main thing that they wanted.
In the future, it is possible that war will breakout because of problems with water supplies. Living without water means certain death. Water is necessary for life. It is an essential key to living a healthy life. From now on, we must economize on water and protect our environment. If we don't do this we are extremely irresponsible and hurtful to future generations.
Our beautiful village, Dogok-Ri!
남양주도곡초등학교 5학년 최연진
My friends, may I ask where do you live? well, do you know the history of the village where you live? As you know, I live in Dogok-Ri.
Do you know what Dogok-Ri means? The "Do" of Dogok-Ri means pottery. As you guess, our village Dogok-Ri has been very famous for baking pottery.
It is known that the royal palace in Chosun Dynasty used the pottery and tiles of our village since soil and water were very good. I am pretty sure that our village has high quality of soil and water due to Han river and Yebong Mountain. Specially Yebong mountain always makes us pleasant during all seasons. Yebong mountain is always beautiful and nice whenever I go, with green trees in spring, thickly wooded hill in summer, colorful trees in the fall, a snow-covered scene in winter.
It is very fun more than any snow sliding place of amusement park if you slide from the hill of the mountain with the mat when it was covered with snow in winter. Now, I remember that I enjoyed sliding over the snow with my close friends last winter. My friends, how about coming to Yebong Mountain of my village to slide over the snow with any kind of vinyl bag or mat. But, you should be careful since you may feel pain in your hips.
And, I should tell you that the roads of our village are well connected to other cities, and it is very close to seoul.
And, one more. In our village, Dogok-Ri there is 8 kilometers' biking road just near Han River. In that road, there are always full with sisters, brothers, and aunts, and uncles who are exercising diligently.
I sometimes ride a bicycle with my mom and dad there. So, all similar aged children like me in our village have healthy and beautiful faces.
My friends, how about moving to our village, Dogok-Ri?
Let me introduce my lette
오남초등학교 6학년 김명섭
Let me introduce my letter.
Dear grandmother!!
Though you don't live any more, you are always on my mind.
Also, you are in my cell phone.
When you died three years ago, I was so young.
Of course, I am still young.
Now I know that I couldn't be here without your love.
You are the best grandmother in the world.
I'm really proud to be your grandson.
Thank you for loving me even when I acted rudely.
I'm not sure if I can give you back all the love.
I promise I'll work hard and become a good man.
I'm sure that you watch me study in heaven.
I'm looking forward to meeting you in the dream.
Sooner or later I'll visit your grave with family.
See you then.
Lastly I must say this, "Grandma, I love you more than I can say."
With love Myung-sub Thank you for listening.
My dream
도제원초등학교 5학년 추경식
Hellow! Everyone! My name is Choo Kyung Sik. I am 12 years old and I attend DoJaeWon elementary school. I will talk to you about my dream today.
My dream is to become an elementary school teacher.
When I was in second grade my teacher was always friendly and sometimes when I did something wrong he had taught me what was right and wrong exactly. So I decided to become a teacher like him.
Now I imagine that I become a teacher.
If I become a teacher I will educate children about humanity first.
I will correct children's wrong behavior.
If they don't listen to me I will be strict.
Of course children would be scared of me however I think that leading children to the right way is a teacher's responsibility.
Also I will be a big help for them to go on the right way in their future.
I would take a pledge on my own that I would learn more to teach children because a teacher's wrong behavior and wrong thought may affect children to go on the wrong way.
After teaching the children how to have right behavior I will teach them how to study diligently.
When I teach them how to study I want to make them easily understand.
No matter how well they study I will teach them in a way that is easy to understand. And more than anything I will emphasize that they will study steadily. Because Rome was not built in a day...
Even though a child is not really good at studying I will make a lot of compliment if he does his best diligently on his studying.
And at the last I will be their friend.
As I think of my experience if a teacher and children become close there is friendship between them.
And I will listen to children's concerns and will understand them.
Also we will laugh together with happy story.
As I teach children I will also have many things to learn.
But I may sometime be angry when the children don't listen to me.
Also I may get tired.
But if I see children's beautiful smile my tiredness will go away and I will have more days that I feel worthwhile than the days that I feel angry.
So I think that becoming a teacher is a worthwhile dream.
So now you know why my dream is becoming a teacher...
I want to confidently say to you in this place.
I will be a great teacher who is told by my students that I was really a great teacher in the future. Please pay attention to me.
I can do it. I will surely be a great teacher. Thank you for listening.
The Three Billy Goants

Once upon a time there were three billy goats.
The three billy goats were very hungry
They wanted to eat the green grass across the river.
But an ugly monster lived under the bridge.
So they were afraid to cross the bridge.
I'll try to cross the bridge said the first billy goat.
Trip, trap, trip, trap, the started to cross the bridge.
Then suddenly the monster jumped up the bridge.
"Who s crossing my bridge ? " he roared.

He's bigger than I am."said the goat.
So the monster let him go.
And the first billy goat crossed the bridge.
Then the second billy goat started to cross the bridge.

Lincoln's leadership
구지초등학교 6학년 강혜란
Not long ago, I watched that member of the national Assemblies fight in TV.
And that public officals are arrested in the police by irrationality.
It was ashamed that Leaders who should be respected from people were not respected.
Our, kids are future master,
To be respected leaders, what should We learn?
I want to introduce America president Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln is one of leaders who is respected most in the world.
What is reason that Lincoln is respected?
First, Lincoln was a honest man.
When, Lincoln was young he was sales clerk of a shop on day.
He counted income in the evening, by the way he found that 6cents remain.
6cents are 70won by korea money.
Lincoln thought about the money, and he found that is change money of which grandmother.
So, he returned money to grandmother late at night.
Grandmother was surprised to lincoln who return small money.
Second, Lincoln forgave enemy.
Lincoln who take the victory in the civil war, forgave the south armies officers.
So the south's armies officers respected him, too.
Third, Lincoln helped poor people.
Lincoln helped poor people when was young,
He thought that should be delivered slaves, and when Lincoln was president, he delivered slaves,
Rice droops head as graw up.
If we grow into a good leader, we have to be a humble and honest person like Lincoln.
Thank you
My happy family
장현초등학교 6학년 홍혜원
Hello, My name is Hong Hye won.
I am in the 6th grade in Jang Hyun elementary school.
I am happy to meet you and join in this contest.
I'd like to tell you about the episode that I went through last holiday.
I went to Seo won park with my family on Children's Day.
That was my first time in this place. So I expected too much.
It's not far away. It took 20 minutes. I went there listening to music.
On my way I was excited.
At last, We arrived there. Then we had to pay admission, 10.000 won.
I thought that it was too expensive.
Anyway we went into there with happiness. That park was smaller than I thought. But the scene was very good.
There was a lake, a bridge, a bench, a riding course. and beautiful green grass. There were many fish in the lake. My father said, "They must be delicious, umm, I'd like to eat them." We all laughed.
We sat on the grass near the lake to have lunch.
We had lunch box that my parents prepared with love.
There were sushi and tomatoes, pine apples, strawberries in the lunch box.
We ate them merrily, It's very delicious. I was full.
After having lunch, we played badminton. But It's too windy. So we gave up. Then My father and mother took a nap on the mat.
I and my sister went around there.
After a few minutes, My father, my little sister, and I went to the riding course.
My sister rode the donkey. It's very cute. My sister rode it very well. She didn't be afraid of that. But when I rode a horse in scout activity. I was so afraid.
On the way, my mother called my father. She told that the badminton rocket was fallen in the lake. When we arrived the lake, the rocket was in the middle of the lake. My father went to find a long stick to pick up the rocket. Luckily, it carried away on the edge owing to wind. So my mother called my father and told him that. My father that went to find a stick showed up with it. Then We all laughed. Because he looked like a primitive man. After all, he picked up the badminton rocket.
We all had a happy day. I'd like to come this place again. I thought that the family is the best friend in the world. So I love my family. "Mom and Dad, I love you!"
Lets stop school violence
용신초등학교 5학년 김용수
A few days ago, I fought with my close friend. Actually we didn't hit each other and just shouted and stared at each other. Even though I felt very bad and found that fighting was not good at all, often we can see many arguments, threats or fist fights at school. Because we are all children its natural to fight and argue. But sometimes it goes too far. And some children can't manage their anger hurting other students badly and making them feel scared. So I want to talk about stopping school violence before it's too late.
Let me point out the problems of school violence. After that, we can find the ways to solve the problems.
First, its very dangerous. If they use their fists or feet when they fight, they may hurt seriously. What if they kick others head or punch stomach? It can be ended up with very dangerous situation like an operation or coma.
Second, more and more children are getting violent. They think that its just O.K. to harass or hurt other people. The way of thinking they have now won't change. They might grow to be gangsters or criminals. They might spread crimes then.
Third, many students and children think school is not a safe place. The violence also can keep students away from school and leave them in fear every day. For some students, violence may be a minor issue. But for others, it may be a daily presence.
How can we do to stop school violence? Let me talk about that this time.
First, we should educate those students. Some good programs can show them why violence is so bad for all of us. So they can realize why they shouldn't harm other people and its harmful to them, too.
Second, schools should control them very strongly. If they do wrong things, they should be disciplined. Then they can learn how to control themselves and don't do bad things again.
Third, to make our schools safer, everyone should try hard. We should think we can do something to help solve the problem. Its a problem we all must solve.
Many Korean students are suffering from school violence but hope to study in a safer condition.
Rotten ingredients Man-Doo
창현초등학교 6학년 임소연
Hello everyone!
My name is Lim So-yeon.
I go to Chang - Hyeon elementary school and, I'm
in six grade.
Thank you all for being here.
I will lay out for you Man-Doo.
It came as a surprise to everyone!
Because the Man-Doo makers made the rotten
ingredients for money.
In these days, children are threatened to health
from junk food made by the immoral companies.
I couldn't believe this!
I love to eat vegetables and meat Man-Doo
very much.
Mom says there's no better than eat vegetables
for my health.
That's the main reason I prefer Man-Doo.
But, How can I even try to eat anymore!
If it wasn't for all that they tried to do, most
people always enjoy to eat and Man-Doo is good
for health.
The Man-Doo is not expensive at all and has
various kinds of them.
So people buy pre-packed Man-Doo at the Mart
and store day in and day out. Man-Doo is very
convenient to eat.
Stop picking on people!
Because we've had enough. But, they can't run
away from themselves.
They dug their own grave. They must learn it
the hard way.
Thank you for listening and Let's take care of junk food.
The Rabbit and Turtle
수택초등학교 6학년 박선아
One lovely day, Mr. Turtle was crawling along the path.
" Hey, Mr. Turle, you're so slow. "
Lady Raddit said, as she was laughing at him.
" what? I don`t think that I am slower than you. "
" Oh, Don't you? You didn't know how slow you really are! "
Lady Raddit said. Mr. Turtle was very angry with her, so he said,
" No! It`s not true. How about a race running competiton?"
" What? That`s silly, I` ll be the winner anyway. But if you want to, I will do it for you!"
" All right The one who gets to the top of the mountain first, he or she will be the winner. "
" Okay."
" All right, Ready , Go!"
The race had begin. The Lady Rabbit hopped faster and faster while Mr. Turtle was crawling along hard.
" Hey! You`re so slow Mr. Turtle! come here!! Move faster!! Chase me please!!"
The Lady Rabbit shouted at Mr. Turtle that is crawling hard after her.
A few minutes later, the Lady Rabbit had already climbed up to the middle of mountain. She looked down at Mr. Turtle and she said.
" All right. see! I am so much faster than you. I will win this race easily but for now I might as well take a rest here. It will take him a long time before he gets here."
The Lady Rabbit lied on the grass, soon she fell into sleep.
While she was sleeping, Mr. Turtle crawled up to the mountain step by step.
" When I get up there, I can take a rest and enjoy the cool wind. I have to make it!"
He was sweating and thirsty but he kept crawling to the top.
" Hooray!! I did it!! I am the winner!!"
Finally, Mr. Turtle reached the top of the mountain.
" Oh, my!"
Suddenly, Lady Rabbit woke up and she ran up to the top of mountain.
When she got there, Mr. Tirtle was taking a rest under the tree.
Slow Mr. Turtle won over the fast Lady Rabbit!
Never under estimate pepole because at times they might surprise you.
Be confident but not over confident!
My Well-Being Life
장승초등학교 5학년 박연희
Hello, everyone.
My name is Park Yeon-hee. I'm in the 5th grade at Jangsung elementary school.
Now I'd like to tell you about the well-being.
You know, lately there are many news about well-being. The original meaning of well-being is the happiness, peace, welfare. But now well-being is life style that is good for health.
The past, it was a matter of interest for human to eat daily meals a day.
But thesedays we aren't satisfied with just meals. There are more important things. Indeed, it is important what we eat and how we eat.
Nowadays, TV News and all of newspapers report about the junk dumpling. The dumpling was made of bad radish pickles. He who made that junk dumpling is the owner of a big food company. Was he dreaming about well being life with the money that is from junk dumplings? If he bought the goods for well-being with the money, is his life real well-being life? I don't think so.
When I have heard this news, I thought about the well-being life.
Well-being life... Recently it is an issue of our community.
It blows hot wind some of goodthings, proenviroment, organic vegetables, even house. Buying ogarnic vegetables, spreading the wall with whit yellow soil. But, it is far from an ordinary people. The most of goods for well-being are expensive. For example ogarnic vegetables were charged double prices.
I think the real well-being life is of benefit to everybody.
Also the real well-being life can be started with these small things.
Practice things of very small part in your life.
For example, use your cleaning materials sparingly, get together when you pull down the toliet water, don't leave food, save electricity, walk nearby places, use recycled soaps.
Everyone, why don't you make a real well-being life with me?
My point of view on the 17th General Election
구지초등학교 6학년 김은솔
Hello, everyone. My name is Eun-sol Kim. It's honor for me to give a speech in this English speech contest. Students who are in my age have already seen several times of elections. Surely, so have I.
Well, this election was a little bit different from the previous elections in some points. Just two years ago, in the presidential election, I saw groups of men and women dancing and shouting for campaign with pickets in a hand. However, I couldn't see the same scene in this time as the last presidential election. It's very unusual for me to see it!! There were just two people or so instead of several groups of people having danced and shouted. Besides, I noticed that there were lots of women candidates. So, I asked my father, "Father, why is the election this time different from the last one?" My father said "Well, that's because of some politicians, who had been given so strong requests from people that there were no places for them, reformed the law on election for a better politics. I guess it will be better."
That's the way it was! In father's thought, politicians who had shouted, quarreled with each other and been in a prison would be changed into politicians who would try to give us dreams and hopes. What a wonderful event it is! I hope a better Korea where we can play freely and study and where fathers and mothers go on living without worries forever. If then, I think there will be no homeless people in Korea. In addition, Korea will be changed into a hopeful country where girls like me can do something for a country willingly.
Now! I firmly promise that I will be a good female leader in our country after studying harder than ever with a belief of the Best Korea. If so, I believe our parents will live a long and happy life without deep wrinkles on their faces.
Friends! This point is what I felt and promised myself after watching the General Election. I do suggest that you should do your best for making the Best Korea with me. Run together, earnestly. Let's make a world clean and wonderful place. Thank you for listening to me.
My little brother
동인초등학교 5학년 이지혜
Hello, my name is Ji-Hae (Grace) Lee.
Our house today, like every other day, is like a market place. You ask why? It`s
because of my little brother Sang-Kyun who is handicapped with aphasiac. He has
made a mess in the house. My mother cleans the house all the time because the torn
books, the number blocks, and other things are everywhere. Due to this toilsome life,
my mother was hospitalized. It was fortonate that she stayed for only one day. but it
still brought tears to my eyes. On our way back home, my mother looked so tired. When we returned home, I was so angry with my little brother. I told him,"Sang-Kyun,
don`t make a mess". But there was no answer from him.
He loves to go outside to play at lunchtime everyday. Sometimes, even when our
family is watching TV together, he tries to sneak out. He is the always up to some
mischief. I think he likes being outside more than staying home, especially the
playground. When he is at the playground, we can`t take our eyes off of him for even a second. My mother is always by his side and watching him. Sometimes he plays well
with the other children then the next second, he gets into some trouble. While he plays,
it becomes dark outside and my mother persuades him home. Because of this, our
dinnertime usually runs past 9 o`clock.
My little brother is not fully potty-trained. so sometimes we run into embarrassing
situations in the public. Sometimes I do feel embarrassed. but the kids that make fun of my brother make me mad. The people that were born with a handicap does make more mistakes then other people, but I think that they have a pure and clean heart. My mother tries her best to raise him just the way he as a precious child. My mother often says, "My precious son" while she hugs him. He has the most priceless smile in the world.
I should be more helpful to my mother. But because I come home late, finish my
homework, then ask my parents for help with the questions I don`t know I don`t have
much time to help. I feel so sorry, because I can`t be more helpful. I wasn`t a good
sister to my little brother, neither. From now on, I will give him love, care, and
understanding like the big sister I am. I will fulfill the devotion that he needs from me.
"Sang-Kyun, from now on, I will give you more love and care."
Thank you, ladies and gentlemen for listening to my story.
The Growing girl
장자초등학교 5학년 이여명
last year, I entered this same annual contest. I was hoping if all
of you could help me decide whether. I have improved my English.
Shall we begin?
Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Yeomyoung lee and I am a
student at jangja elementary school.
Having entered the fifth grade, I've noticed that I am growing
inches every day. Yes, This is my time to grow. I am a growing
girl. What do you think of when I say that I am a growing girl?
Most likely it will remind you of the "years df rebellion".
It seems that lately I have been fighting with my mother for no
reason at all. The day before yesterday, I had stared arguing
with my mother late into the night. I started pouting but I only
got into trouble. Yesterday, I was told that I had interfered in the
high and mighty affairs of adults. I was only trying to tell my
opinion. I couldn't get why they were angry with me so I started arguing again and, of course, was punished.......... again.
After these arguments, when I see my mother huffing and puffing,
her face all red, I start to regret what I had done. Even though I
fight a lot, does my mother know that I still love her? I hope I
can get past these "Years of Rebellion" quickly.
I guess we all have to go through those years. It's the only way
to become an adult, don't you think so? I can only say that I'm
proud of having these rebellions times, it's making me look at life
with more maturity. I'm probably going to start arguing with my
mom again today. Here we go again........ I hope all of you have enjoyed my story. If there was one thing I wish for, it's that if
you could look upon those growing years not as "Years of
Rebellion", but as those "years of Growing Thought". Then maybe we would all welcome those years more, but I guess the
arguing will still continue, don't you think so?
THE WAR BETWEEN IRAQ & US
도심초등학교 5학년 박진아
Nowadays what is the most controversial matter in the world?
Probably, that would be the war between IRAQ and the U.S. According to CNN news, we can see the tragedy of the war, which seems to be very painful.
I strongly feel that the war shouldn't have been broken out.
Because so many innocent people died.
I can't stand why people bring out the war to make their own profits One day watching TV, I saw the war news.
From then, I'm getting to know about the war little by little.
And I asked to my daddy why the war broke out.
My daddy said, " First, the U.S asked IRAQ to give the oil, but they refused. Secondly their relation was not that good each other."
At first I thought IRAQ had responsibilities for this.
But my daddy had different opinion from me.
"Daddy, IRAQ is bad. Because they should obey the U.S. If they did I, the war wouldn't be."
"I have different opinion. I think they both have responsibilities for it.: For IRAQ, they didn't obey the U.S. As for America, there was no reason to use the force."
I agreed with him. I realize that how fearful the war is.
The war is the big problem. And hope it would disappear, For the world peace,
I'd like to have a society without the war.
Recycling
와부초등학교 6학년 김지윤
Good morning. My name is Ji-Yun Kim.
My speech will be on recycling. Recycling simply means to use again, especially to reprocess. I will be discussing some important topics on why recycling is a necessity here in Korea. There are of course many benefits from recycling. I will introduce only a few ideas. They are: 1. environmental benefits 2. resource benefits, and 3. landfill benefits. Lastly, I will go over some proper recycling habits we should all be aware of.
Why is recycling beneficial to our environment? For one, it reduces solid waste pollution. Secondly, there are designated recycling areas which pays people in exchange for the recycling items. This in turn helps the community profit and gives them a reason to clean up their environment. Keeping our environment clean is everyones responsibility. Therefore, everyone should take part in recycling and helping out as much as possible to reduce environmental pollution. Keeping our envvironment clean, keeps the air that we breathe clean. Thus, we are ensuring our own survival and ensuring a cleaner environment for our children.
Recycling also prevents us from using an excessive amount of natural resources. The paper that we recycle might actually save a tree. The plastics that we recycle might also help save a tree. Recycled plastics are used to make polymeric timbers for use in picnic tables, fences and outdoor toys, thus again saving natural resources. Plastic from 2-liter bottles can be spun into fiber for the production of carpet. Again saving more natural resources. There are an abundant amount of resources that can be recycled and countless uses for them.
Recycling not only reduces solid waste pollution and reduces natural waste, but it also reduces the amount of landfills needed to bury the garbage we all accumulate. Our solid waste doesn't magically vanish after we throw it away. It gets buried into the ground which are called landfills. These landfills are huge and acquire constant maintenance, which in turn not only wastes land, but require a significant budget. If one of these landfills leak and pollute the land it could be devastating or even harmful to the community surrounding the area. Therefore, keeping our landfills to a minimum would be extremely beneficial. We, as the guardian of our planet, can do this just by recycling what we can.
There are a few habits we should all take apart in. For instance, the food garbage should be collected into a plastic bag with holes punctured into it to help keep it dry. Also the cooking oil for deep frying food can be recycled and used again. When recycling cartons we should first rinse it, then take it apart and flatten it as much as possible to reduce space. This also goes for cans. We should also rinse and flatten cans as much as possible. When we recycle aerosole cans, it needs to be punctured before recycling. This is a for safety. These are only a few ideas, but if we all just use common sense when we recycle, we will have a cleaner environment to live in.
I hope these recycling tips get us all hyped to recycle what we can. Although all the statements I have stated above are very significant, there are many more benefits still unstated. These benefits go hand in hand with numerous other benefits that we all receive just from recycling. These benefits are exponential. I beg everyone to please do their part in this recycling struggle. This is not only your home, but our home. Please recycle.
MY DREAM
장현초등학교 6학년 주한빈
Good afternoon, everyone.
I'm glad to meet you all.
Firstly, Let me tell about my self.
I'm Ju Han-Bin and doing my 6th grade at Jang-Hyun elementary school.
I am very happy to share my dreams with you all this afternoon.
Dream. Dream. Dream.
All most everyone has dreams. Why?
I think dream is our future. No dream, no future.
And every successful thing begins with a dream.
My mother used to say "Make efforts and start thinking about what you want to do in life. It will help you to be successful and happy."
So I believe everyone needs a dream.
Sometimes dreams can change.
For example, I dreamt to be a dentist like my uncle
who gave free treatment to old poor people.
But, as I grow older, I realize that my interest is something else.
Whenever, I take a walk in the forest with my family,
I was always fascinated by different insects.
Recently, I found an insect at the side of a pond.
It was a dragonfly at an aquatic stage.
Usually, a dragonfly casts off its skin only at night.
I was lucky to see it, during the day.
I saw a beautiful dragonfly coming out.
At that moment, I decided to be an entomologist someone like Fabre.
Later I learned that a larva becomes a dragonfly after casting of its skin 10-15 times.
It takes long time and effort.
So, I will make an effort for my dream too.
I hope and pray my dream will come true.
I want to tell all my friends.
Let's start to have our dreams now, so that we can be successful.
Thank you for listening to my dream.
To My friend in North Korea
도제원초등학교 5학년 한성원
Hello! Everyone!
I'm Han Seong Won. I'm in fifth grade of Dojewon elementary school.
I wrote a letter to a child in North Korea is near, and distant.
Please listen carefully.
Dear friend
Hi, My name is Han Seong won.
I'm living to South Korea.
I'm in fifth grade of Dojewon elementary school. and I'm twelve years old.
South Korea is the summer weather, how is the weather in North Korea?
South Korea children eat cool and sweet ice cream very much in the summer. I heard that you call an ice cream 얼음 보송이 in North Korea.
I'm very curious what taste is the 얼음 보송이.
The June 6th was Memorial Day. It's a day of thankful for the person who died for a country, and remembering them. I have gone to somewhere along father. The place is the National Cemetery where my uncle is falling asleep. The uncle whom there wasn't besides one died by an accident in the army. Therefore, our family became the patriots and veterans family, and I saw tears of a grandmother and father. It's a day when the Korean War happened on 25th in June. I wasn't born at that time, so I couldn't see directly. However, I saw how miserable a war was in TV and read in a book very much. The Korea War seemed to leave a lot of wounds to us. I saw TV before a few days and was surprised at it. There were explosion accident happened in Yong Cheon, and did a lot of people die? Specially, a mind was too painful even if schoolchildren of our age died very much. North korea are similar to South Korea people in an appearance, too, and there is it close.
By the way, why cannot we meet each other? I want to show you race Pulguksa that is a pride of our country and a lot of historic spots such as Chomsongdae Observatory and sokkulam. And I want to eat tasty food with you. We are all descendants of DanGun. It's a meaning called brother to infuse. Let's pray to God so that South Korea and North Korea are unified quickly. I will talk to you very much about a funny story if I meet you.
I wish you are healthy till then.
Good bye.
I miss a friend not to know that is living to North Korea in June in 2004

Clean environment
동인초등학교 5학년 이은동
Hi, everyone. My name is eun dong lee.
I would like to talk about water being polluted badly nowadays.
The origin of all nature on the earth comes from water, however, it
has been polluted.
Water is not an unlimited resource.
If we don't save it, it will be exhausted in the near future.
2003 was "the international year of Fresh Water"
And our country has been listed on "countries lacking in water"
from 2004.
In spite of this, our citizens show a tendency to abuse water.
Whenever I see advertisements showing the earth is getting dry, I
think the cause of decreasing and polluting water is due to our
careless habits in using water.
A water lacking country means that it becomes easily dry and we
have to import! water from other countries.
So I will suggest ways to save water.
Firstly, We should accustom ourselves to using containers to
prevent from wasting water uselessly.
Secondly, to avoid wasting water, we should collect our laundry and
wash it all together.
Lastly, people usually wash fruit with running water. Actually a
small amount of salty water is enough for washing fruit.
In conclusion, each home has a responsibility for cleaning water.
We should start to keep our water clear.
We couldn't live without water.
We should keep in mind that an environment polluted by us will be a
serious disaster to us.
How about starting to use the water saving habits that I have
suggested right now?
Thanks for your attention.
Believe that you can fly in the sky
도농초등학교 5학년 박지원
Hi, everyone! I am Park Ji-Won, fifth grade of Do-Nong elementary school.
I am very happy to tell you about my wonderful experience in the English Musical Camp during last winter vacation.
It was my mom who found the camp and handed in the application for the audition for me. The title of the play was Peter Pan.
I was really nervous while performing in the audition, but I believed that I did my best. A minute seemed like a lifetime while waiting for the result after the audition.
What a wonderful result I had ! I was selected as one of the last students.
At the first meeting for the students before opening the camp, we were told that each role for the play would be decided in the audition held on the first day of the camp.
What a great interesting second challenge it was !
During my practice, I happened to meet the impressive wordings in the play-book that I want to keep it forever.
"There is another place. A place where dreams 'can' come true.
It's a children's place that never gets old forever.
The children's land is now a place of dreams and wishes.
Adults forgot how to get there, because they lost their hopes and dreams.
A long time ago, they just stopped believing, believing.
Fly in the sky! Further more than blue sea. Believe that you can fly in the sky.
Fly in the sky! Higher than high mountain. Believe that you can fly in the sky."
At the second audition for casting, the dialogue that I was performing is
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome and congratulations for visiting here.
This is Never land, a world for children.
Let's start the introductions. A Timid and Shy boy! Doodles.
He is thin and cheerful! Nip! Come on! Come on! Hurry up!
Come to Never land!"
The next day, I was cast a role as Peter Pan.
It was most wonderful moment I had in the camp!
From the next day, the repeated practicing continued.
It was very difficult for all members to complete a play within four days, but it was very interesting and enjoyable to spend time with new friends for the same goal.
Through the camp, what I have learned is not how much my English ability has grown, but how to think and live as a promising children with the bright future.
Now, I want to talk about two factors needed for promising children like us.
Firstly, the spirit of challenge.
In our daily life, there will be only a few things new for us to do if we only try something easy.
If I haven't attended lots of English contests held in my school, I could not have done my best in such a over-tense situation as the camp's audition.
Furthermore, if I haven't attended the audition because of a shame or lack of confidence, I could not have experienced the more than delightful and valuable time.
I believe that everyone knows the phrase, "Boys be ambitious!"
With that in mind, I am asking everyone here. If you practice anything in your daily life, even though it's really a small thing, a chance shall be given to you as you have the spirit of challenge.
The Second one is Self-confidence.
I am sure that those who believe themselves can reach any goal without fail.
And the great result will be given to those who did their best with self-confidence.
When I finished the camp, I could say, "I have really done it."
So I can say confidently that my camp experience will be the strong ground to climb any mountains from now on.
So now, I would like to suggest you to keep the wording in your mind, "Believe that you can fly in the sky."
Dear my friends,
Shall we fly all together like Peter Pan in the sky of Never Land believing we can fly in the sky?
Thank you very much my friends, I hope my speech could stay in your hearts.
The problem of the Internet
평내초등학교 6학년 정동채
Hello!
Let me introduce myself to you briefly.
My name is Jung Dong-chae and I'm thirteen years old. I'm in the sixth grade in Pyung Nae elementary school. I really like to play computer game on the Internet. So sometimes I used to forget doing something.
Today, I'm going to tell you about the internet.
The internet connects many computers around the world.
Therefore, it is a network of many computers in the world.
Well, first of all, I'm going to tell you about the strong point of the internet. The Internet is a tool of getting information. In old time people used to send a letter and used a signal fire. But, now we use a telephone or e-mail on internet.
The Internet is good for us, because we find information that we need quickly.
Many people use internet because it is easy for us how to use, it is fast. It allows us to search information and communicate by e-mail and do shopping. And internet make our life convenient.
But in other side, there are many problems on the internet.
First, Some children only play computer games all the day.
When they play the games for many hours, their pose become worse, and they get eyesight poor and poor. And they are getting fat.
Second, sometimes, the internet shocks children by seeing bad pictures.
It is possible for the young to go into evil sites by mistake, or it is caused by spem mail. So children take mental shocks.
Equally spem mail gives us mental shocks and stress.
Why it gives us shocks?. It shows us the bad mail.
They are the problems of the Internet. Of course, it is sure that the internet has many good sides.
The internet is a important part of our life.
Therefore we should use the internet in good purpose. We use it not in playing the game but in finding some informations and so on.
Thank for your listening.

Our new value ?
장현초등학교 6학년 임보라
Hello, My name is Bora Lim and today I am here to talk about a big problem most societies have. I call it the “pretty face and good body” syndrome. In history, beauty has always been valued. Cleopatra took her bath in milk; people in Europe painted their faces with chemicals that were toxic, all that to look more beautiful. Nowadays the new trend is plastic surgery. People have plastic surgery to change their bodies and faces because they want to look like so and so.
Everywhere we look, pictures of tall skinny people bombard us. Might it be in the magazines, TV commercials, even on the Internet. It is difficult not to get cut up in the whole thing when so many people do it. We end up being mocked if we are not “pretty” or if we are a little round. So we grow up with this pressure to please by our appearance. A few months ago I was reading that in Korea, people have plastic surgery because they think that it will make them more employable. What about talent and intelligence? Doesn’t that count for something?
Looking good has a high price. First of all, it is expensive. A surgery costs a lot of money. So do beauty creams and diet products. Second, it is dangerous. Many people have suffered health problems or even died as a result.
As for me, I also want to be pretty, of course, but I prefer being intelligent and healthy. I think people should start looking at a person from the inside instead of the opposite. Beauty is not everything, you know. People should start realizing that before it gets any further.
My School Picnic
금교초등학교 5학년 김상은
Hello everyone. My name is Kim, Sang-Eun and I'm in the second class in Fifth grade in Kum-Kyo elementary School.
Today, I am going to talk about my school picnic on May 7th.
I went on a picnic to Min Sok Chon in Yong-In city. It is a traditional village contains old houses from long time ago.
During the picnic, I was happy to see many traditional things and to hear many interesting facts and stories about the village from our tour guide.
Some buildings and structures in the village include: the government offices, a market, a blacksmith's shop, a wooden bridge, Gi-Wa-Jips, which the roof is made with tiles and so on.
Before the trip, I saw these types of traditonal buildings only on television drama shows.
People say that there is a reason Gi-Wa-Jip (the tile-roofed house) was built on a platform. The reason is to prevent the rooms getting damp in the wet season and keep hot air out in the summer. Our forefathers stayed in the living room, called Ma-Ru during the wet days of summer.
They also stayed in a room with a heated floor, called On-Dol during the cold months of winter. Therefore, with all this, they enjoyed a cozy and comfortable life. The houses nomally had a wide garden where they planted various types of flowers and trees. Yes! They were able to enjoy and experience all four seasons in the house.
The middle of the Min-Sok-Chon was an area Where villagers playing the traditional music with four different drums, called Samul-Nori. Many of the korean visitors, as well an many foreigners, enjoyed listening to the joyful music.
In another area of the village, a game called Nul-Twi-Ki was playing. many foreigners were playing the game, but no Koreans. The foreigners wanted to play with the Koreans, but the Koreans were playing with them. I did not understand why only foreigners were playing it, even this is our own traditional game.
In conclusion, I would like to say that it is important for us to remember and keep the tradition from our past.
We should remember the fact that our forefathers created the tradition, society and country. Because I believe that all of us here are living on them, right this moment. So we can go into the future with success.
Thanks for your listening, my friends.
Memorial Day
덕소초등학교 6학년 천미리
It has been more than 5000 years since Korea came into being. It was not easy to keep our country safely all the time. Many wars have broken out because other countries wanted to expand their nation. We are still here as Koreans because our patriotic soldiers fought really hard to keep our country. Korean War is one of the wars they had about fifty years ago. Many soldiers lost their lives in this war to save our country. Memorial Day was created to remind our soldiers who lost their lives for our country. It is a very significant day that we have to think about our soldiers' achievements and should be thankful for them. So, today I am going to tell you about Memorial Day.
As I mentioned at the beginning our country has had many wars. Japanese imperialism and Korean War are the well-known wars Korea had. Although they were fierce, our devoted soldiers saved Korea. That is how we are proudly living in our country these days. We have to remind their achievements and deeply appreciate to them. The soldiers did not simply lose their lives just for fighting against enemies, but they lost their lives to keep our nation for the future generations like us. That is the reason why we need to be greatly thankful to them. Memorial Day is the day when we all have to think about their patriotism and we must learn the love for our country which our soldiers kept for us.
As a conclusion, I will summarize everything I just told you. Everyone should celebrate Memorial Day as a special and significant day for all the soldiers who lost their lives in the war. We have to keep in mind that our country, Korea, has been survived through our soldiers' great achievements with their love for our country. Thank you!
Let's Love Nature
창현초등학교 6학년 김은누리
Hello, everyone.
I am glad to meet you.
My name is Kim -eun-nu-ri.
I am in the sixth grade at Changhyun elementary school.
Today, I want to tell you about my thought on why we should
protect nature and how we can protect nature.
A few days ago, I was very surprised by a TV news report . It was about a small village located in Go Sung city, Kyeong Sang Nam province. The report said that there are many people who have been suffering from the same sickness stemming from polluted water from the closed mine in that village. Some of the village people had deformed fingers. And others could not walk without a stick or a cart. There are more than 100 closed mines like that in our country that are seriously affecting the health of those who live in those areas.
Just Imagine suffering from a disease without knowing the name of it. And imagine if this disease affected someone you know , or even worse a family member ! How terrible it would be !
Do you know that 70% of our body is water?
Every living thing needs water to survive.
Our streams and rivers are important because they give us water for drinking and farming. This water can cause serious diseases if it gets dirty and polluted. This is the reason why we should protect nature.
Let's look at the cause of water pollution.
Today environment is increasingly becoming more and more polluted. Man's lack of respect of the environment is causing much damage to it. Destroyed environment is causing water pollution. So, how can we help improve this bad situation that is clearly getting worse day by day ?
I want to suggest that we should care for not only ourselves
but also for others. Today it seems that people think only of themselves without thinking of others.
Many factories, large and small use strong and deadly chemicals ,which pour directly into rivers and streams.
There are many people who visit streams or mountains for pleasure. Many of them throw away their food ,trash and bottles without thinking twice. These kinds of actions are against nature and show no respect for others.
If we leave alone polluted nature all of us can not help drinking polluted water and someday we , ourselves , may suffer from
another kind of disease owing to pollution.
To love nature is to care for others.
To love nature is to love human beings.
Therefore, let's love nature.
It is the only way to protect nature and to live together.
Dont' forget our future depends on clean and pollution free
environment which means clean water , clean air and clean soil.
Thank you for your kind attention .

Teenagers as Heads of Families
심석초등학교 6학년 정태인
Hello, my name is Jung Tae-In. I am in Grade six and attending Simsuck Elementary School. Last month, I learned about healthy and happy families from reading the newspapers and watching television. I also learned about a particular group of families where there are teenagers who are the heads of families. Today, I would like to speak to you on this issue, which has only, until recently, gained some national attention...
What is a teenage head family? How and why do they exist? Teenage heads of families are often caused by the death of one or both parents, parents stricken with disease or emotional disorders, the prolonged disappearance of one or both parents, divorce, and sometimes the parents total neglect of duty and responsibility within a household. On many occasions, teenagers in these situations are often put into their predicament without warning. As a result these teenagers, some of whom are the same age as I, are suddenly left with a heavy burden. They are faced with trying to balance school with preparing meals, housework, and doing jobs such as delivering newspapers to earn income.
Unlike other developed countries, there exists very little empathy or support from my fellow Koreans or government. In other countries, the heads of families can range from guardians or relatives to social workers . In Korea, this is largely non-existent because pride and prejudice is at work. Many Koreans believe in not sharing these types of problems, keeping them very personal and private. As a result, people refuse to get involved in others matters. It is indeed shameful and it fills me up with pain, sorrow, and anger to know this is going on around me! These heads of families are young and are being deprived of the life of a teenager, which raises the question " How can Korea help them?"
First, a teenager must be protected by the nation and from society's ignorance. Laws should be made and enforced to protect children from neglect. Secondly, more social workers should be made available to check upon and report any cases of abuse or neglect and offer counseling to the victims. Thirdly, Korea needs more after school and day-care programs to allow time for these teenagers to study and obtain a quality education. Finally the government of Korea needs to educate the public about the import!ance of taking action and helping out such families in any way possible.
In conclusion, parents are the role models for any society. If Korean adults begin to take action on these problems, the children will follow their example in future generations. By advancing slowly, step by step and doing ones best, Korea can change into a beautiful society where every member is equal and children are able to have the same opportunities as children elsewhere. Thank you for listening to me today!
Expecting better future
와부초등학교 6학년 원동엽
In our society, we have to keep our duty in public places, But many people do not keep it properly. For our better future I strongly recommend the following points;
Firstly, I do love the dogs and many people who have dogs, But sometimes they do not care their dogs in our public places. For example, it is found that the puddle is in elevator and on stairs, and also noise of dog's barking in our apartment. It gives me very bad impression. So, whenever I see it, I want to teach them the right manners, If they cannot care their pets properly, they gave to keep them in their house only to avoid the harm of their neighbors.
Secondly, I have many experiences, that some people throw away the trash on the road where is prohibited area. These kinds of people should be banished from our earth. Sometimes I pick it up and talk to the road, whether it has pain because of the trash. I promise to myself guarding the road. In the future, If I have a strong power, I will work very hard for the protection of environment. I also recommend to the politicians making the law that the heavy fine should be imposed to bad people.
Thirdly, I would like to present my opinions for our country. The price of oil and living stuffs are raised dramatically. The resources are very limited. So it is needed that alternative resources have to be found. Four example, the solar and hydrogen-energy have to be invented in near the future. And we have to develop the care whatever using those kinds of energy. Saving from the difficulty of economy-situation in Korea, we have to work very hard and use the tax for the people only.
I emphasize that we have to do our best to get rid of the bad mind and thought for our country to be happy. Hooray for my country!
Thank you very much!
WOMANISM
창현초등학교 6학년 이수연
Hello, I am Soo-yeon Lee.
The other day, on a radio program I came to know the womanist Alice Walker who was in Korea for a two-week visit to participate in a series of lectures. Alice Walker, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "The Color Purple," reminded me of the sexual and racial discrimination.
Recognized as one of the leading black American women writers, she has written a varied body of work, including poetry, novels, and essays. Her writings mostly portray the struggle of black people throughout history.
Walker said that as a vigorous activist, she had been involved in various social issues such as the peace movement, the environmental movement.
Walker used the term 'womanism' many times, which means the movement for the black or colored woman different from that of the white woman and defines womanist as one who appreciates and prefers women`s culture, women`s emotional flexibility and women`s strength.
Her story reminded me of the riddle that I had heard before.
The riddle is that a father and his boy were in a traffic accident. The father was taken to Hospital A while his boy was taken to Hospital B. But the doctor at Hospital B said ' Oh, my god, it's my son!" If so, who is the boy's real father?
The answer is that the man taken to Hospital A is the boy's father, and the doctor at the Hospital B is the boy's mother.
If you think that the doctor is a man, you may have a hard time solving this riddle.
Nowadays the things are getting better for women than before, but in fact most of us have the discrimination and prejudice about the roles of men and women.
On the other hand, it can be a kind of discrimination that nurses and flight attendants remind us of women.
Like this, we have in mind that man is different from woman in society.
I don't know colrrecty what 'womanism' is and it must be, but I think that we must be equal not as man or woman, but as human. When I grow up to be a doctor, I hope that everyone will answer the above-mentioned riddle easily. Thank you.

Hello everyone!! My name is Sung-ha Hwang. I am going to tell you about the mushrooms that my mom really loves. Our refrigerator has mushrooms all the time.
One day I asked my mother “Mom please, fill the refrigerator with cheese, snacks and ice-creams. I am really sick and tired of mushrooms.” The best chef in my family, my mother said. “My sweet heart, son! I can't do that. why not? What about studying mushrooms why we have to eat them?”
So I turned on my computer to investigate that. Then I found out several things. They are as follows,
1. As the western proverb says, the man, who likes to eat mushrooms, lives long. It mean that he can enjoy longevity because of mushrooms.
2. Long times ago, many kings and emperors lived to eat mushrooms. Mushroom was their favorite food.
3. Scientifically, it turned out that mushrooms are good for our health.
4. Because of low-cal, mushrooms are good for doing diet and preventing diseases happening to adult people.
I told my mom about my research.
“You did a good job. Heney. Now you know the import!ance of mushrooms. First, it is one of the best groceries for the sake of our health. Second, they are cheap and easy to get. Third, we feel comfortable when we eat them. The most importantly, they prevents cancer.”
Hearing that my father said,
“Your mom is the best mom in the world.”
After that I came to love mushrooms more the ever.

Keep the traffic safety rules
구리초등학교 6학년 이세은
The traffic safety rules!
It is one of the most important things in our society.
Because it is connected our life .
I think that we should care about our own and other's safety.
The campaign that keep the standing line was gild in our country during the May.
A standing line which keep our lives is a line of our lives.
Drivers must keep the traffic rules.
They must reduce the high speed, too.
They have to be careful a passenger's safety more than their safety.
Passengers have to keep the traffic rules, too.
They must not jaywalk in the crosswalk.
From now on June, our government will catch the jaywalkers.
Nowadays, the traffic problem of our country has been increasing.
The streets have been filled with many cars and passengers.
Many accidents are happening on the steets everyday .
However, there are few people who care about this problem seriously
our children always vi en danger
Whenever they attend to school or return to their home, our children always face many dangerous accidents
Many cars don't keep the traffic rules.
Many people always jaywalk habitually.
A few days ago, a little student who was going to across the crosswalk was stuck by truck
That event brought a big tragedy to their family.
If they were careful a little then, both of them would save their lives.
All of us must make our nation be a free accident country.
Many people are being killed in a traffic accident.
When I heard a sad news in newspaper or television.
I feel my heart hurt bitterly.
Your and my life is very precious.
Here were some safety rules for you above.
We obey that rules and let's save many lives.
To obey the safety rules is to save our live.
Thank you for listening my opinion.
The Children of Ryongchon
동인초등학교 5학년 방한경
Hello!
My name is Han-Kyoung(Jenny)Bang. I am in 5th grade attending Dong-In Elementary School.
Ladies and gentlemen, do you know a city called “Ryongchon”?
It's a small city in North Korea.
Last April 22nd, there was a massive explosion involving a train in that area. Due to this explosion, lot of the near-by elementary school and the neighborhoods were wrecked and brunt down. And also because of this explosion, the children have received burns so severe that some of them may lose sight and/or their hearing.
How uneasy and uncomfortable will the children feel? And how sad and helpless will the children's parents feel? After hearing about the explosion, a thought crossed my mind. “Why did the adults/political figures in North Korea not seek the other countries for aid earlier? I feel that the countries of communism feel more import!ance on not showing their weakness than the lives of their citizens, This is the reason why the reason why the restoration of the city is taking longer and in that time, I am feeling sorrow for the children dying of pain because of the adults' mistake. Who will compensate for the children's lost dreams?
I am thankful that I was born in a democratic country, because I know that the same disaster will not happen here in South Korea. I also realized how valuable and priceless the love is that I am receiving from my parents are through the children of Ryongchon. I hope that the children of Ryongchon will be regaining the happiness, just as we are. Ladies and gentlemen, May is the month of the family. While we are celebrating Children's Day here, please do not forget about the children in North Korea who has lost hope and are in sadness, and find a way to help them and be at their aid. How about putting your mind to work and lending a helping hand?
Air Pollution
평내초등학교 6학년 박지민
May I introduce myself? My name is Ji min Park and I'm thirteen years old. I'm in the sixth grade in Pyung Nae elementary school.
From now I'll tell you a topic of air pollution.
Pollution of the atmosphere has been a problem since the Industrial revolution. We pollute the air with smoke and fumes from fires, factories and power stations, and from cars and other vehicles.
A great variety of substances are released into our environment.
Many of these are waste products from industry, agriculture or private homes, that enter the air, rivers, the sea and the land occasionally. The substances may escape by accident.
When these substances are in amounts that do harm to the environment, we regard them as pollutants.
We are often asked for information about pollution and how it affects birds. It's a difficult problem to answer. Because many of the effects of pollution do not show in an obvious way.
Let me tell you what kind of substances there are. There are Sulphur dioxide, Nitrogen monoxide, Carbon dioxide and so on. These substances are produced from industries, power stations and from car exhaust. They affect the respiratory system of humans, particularly when combined with smoke. Especially Carbon dioxide acts as a sort of blanket and trap the heat from the sun in the atmosphere, keeping the earth warm. It is called a " green house effects".
Pollution can affect nature through food chain and also affect global warming.
Therefore I think pollution is the very big problem to consider seriously together. We must keep clean our environment by behaving from small things.
First, let's look around our town if it is clean.
You can see easily trash everywhere. If you see it you have to pick it up and throw it in the trash bin.
Second, let's recycle plastic, paper, glass. We can realize how many things we can recycle.
Third, If it is possible, try to avoid using a detergent.
Chemical detergent can destroy our earth.
Fourth, reduce using vehicles. Let's walk two or three bus stop and use public transportation. Walking is good for our health, isn't it?
We should make our environment clean by ourselves. I think we can do it. Thank you for your listening.
The Way Of Saving Our Natural Resources
평내초등학교 6학년 김현영
Hello, everyone. Let me introduce myself to you briefly.
My name is Hyun young Kim and I'm thirteen years old. I'm in the sixth grade in Pyung Nae elementary school.
Today I will speak on why we need to save our natural resources.
I believe we keep well the inheritance of our descendants, but many of our natural resources have been destroyed.
Look around us. Unfortunately, people have destroyed the mountains, trees, and streams in order to build apartment, complexes, homes, businesses, and roads.
I think of the garbage from our homes, which is sometimes thrown into the street, or the side of the road, and into the water. This pollutes the air we breathe, as well as the waters from which we get our food.
It is a very serious situation when it comes to our lives. I feel we need to think about how this will affect our generation. So at this time, I would like to share four ways of how we can save our natural resources.
The first way of keeping our environment and saving natural resources, is by saving our paper and reducing our garbage. When we go to the market, we could use a basket instead of paper or plastic to carry our groceries. Another is to refrain from using freon gas for our refrigerators.
Second, we have to reduce the trash and recycle our paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic. We can also reduce the use of electric appliances.
Third, save the energy. How? By reducing the use of our air conditioners, and use electric fans instead.
Fourth, save the water. When you brush your teeth, wash your face, or dishes, use a cup or basin instead. And if possible, use the water again for plants and other uses.
These are some ways I believe we can make our country a happier, healthier place for living.
Thank you for your listening.
I Like Every Season
인창초등학교 5학년 이유리

First I like spring best. In spring everything begins a new life. I can enjoy new flowers in the field. I can enjoy new leaves on the trees. The new school year begins in the spring and I meet new teachers and new friends. I am happy in the spring because I can see a lot of new flowers new leaves, and because I have a lot of new friends.
In the summer, I don't like to go out because it is very hot. Sometimes we have a heavy rain. But I like summer because I can eat a lot of fruit. I eat peaches, melons, and watermelons, In the summer I have a long vacation. I am happy because I do not go to school everyday. I can stay home all day. Sometimes I go and swim in the sea. I like to swim, so summer is not a bad season.
I like fall because the world becomes very beautiful. Every tree wears new clothes of red and yellow leaves. It is good to look at the trees. The weather is very good in the fall, so I often go out and play with my friends. My family go on a picnic on weekends and have a good time. My school also has a picnic in fall. We go out to the nearby park and enjoy ourselves. I like fall because I have a lot of outdoor activities.
After fall winter begins. It is very cold in the winter. Sometimes we have a lot of snow. I cannot go out often because of the weather. But I have a long vacation again. I am happy because I don't go to school. I enjoy myself at home. I play games with my friends. I can watch TV more often. Often I go out and skate. In the winter it is very cold, but it is not bad because I have a lot of things to do.
I like all seasons because I have a lot of things to do in every season.
Thank you for listening.
KOREA IN 1446
창현초등학교 6학년 이무창
Hello, everyone. This is CBS Headline News.
I am Moo-chang Lee.
Today, October 9 in 1446, is a special and historic day.
This morning King Sejong proclaimed 'Hunminjeongeum', a new Korean Alphabet created three years ago.
It means the right sounds for teaching the people.
'Hunminjeongeum' is made up of 17 consonants and 11 vowels.
For one thing, the 17 consonants are made after the shapes of sound organs when pronounced. For example, 'ㅁ‘ comes from the shape of the mouth, 'ㅅ' of the teeth, 'ㅇ' of the throat.
The 11 vowels are made after the positions of the tongue and the shape of sky, earth and man. For example, 'l' comes from the shape the man stands, 'ㅡ' comes from the flat land.
We have used Chinese letters, Hanza, for a long time. However, Hanza was too difficult for the Korean people to learn and use. So we couldn't express our thoughts fully. King Sejong has felt great sympathy for it. In spite of some scholars' opposition favoring Chinese characters, King Sejong and the scholars of Jiphyunjun, the Royal Scholarstic Institute, have made hard and steady efforts. As a result, we come to have our own letters. They will be widely spread and used by the common people, and are expected to contribute a lot to the people's literacy and public education.
Bad news. According to the report, King Sejong was going to Kyeongbok palace to proclaim the creation of Hunminjeongeum. On his way, the King's Sedan chair, Gama, broke down, and nearly fell down. Fortunately, the guards protected him well, so this was a small matter. But because of this problem, Chang Yeong-sil, the great scientist and inventor of Gama, is likely to be dismissed from his position in disgrace.

Our dream
진건초등학교 원경연 6학년
Good afternoon, my friends. It is a great pleasure for me to speak before you. My name is Kyoung Youn Won and I'm a sixth grade at Jin gun Elementary School. Today I'd like to talk with you "Our Dreams".
What is your dream? What do you want to be in the future? I asked these questions to my friends. Most of them say they want to become famous entertainers and sports stars. It is because they want to earn the fame and a great fortune. They also aspire the love pans give to superstar.
Hoping to become a great star, many just imitate the stars they like. They wear same clothes, same shoes, and even same hairdos, But imitation cannot bring success. Wearing hip-up trousers doesn't make you in H.O.T. Many want to become famous singers, basketball stars and action stars. But most of them cannot realize those dreams. There are many soccer players at elementary schools. But look at the number of professional soccer players. It's much smaller than that of children players. You'll have to work real hard, if you want to belong to a few successful ones.
Besides I everyone wants fame and money and thus wants to become sports stars or movie stars, then who's going to grow rice, make clothes and clean the street? Who's going to build houses, roads and bridges?
There are many jobs in the world. For instance, doctor, cook, teacher, engineer, musician, lawyer, and many more. As the society develops and grows more complex, the number of jobs increases. "What do I want to be?" is the question we should seriously ask ourselves. Do I want to help people who need medical help? Or do I want to be a comedian so that I can make people happy? Or do I want to be the President of our country?
Then we have to ask ourselves the next question. What is my talent and ability? If my talent and ability does not match my dream, then I have to change my dream. After deciding what I want to be in the future, then there's only one thing to do. That is to do our best to realize our targets, our dreams.
My dear friends, Let's seriously think about our future: what I want to be in ten, twenty or thirty years time. Then let's set our goals. And let us work very hard to achieve it. Let's keep working on it until our dreams come true. My friends, dreams don't come true easily. So let's work hard to bring our dreams into reality. Thank you.
