Hi Jooan!
You were the first idol I met in my first ever video call and now you are the first member I'm writing my first individual letter to!
I'm not sure if you read my first letter to the group yesterday, but if you didn't, I finally graduated college with one of my associate degrees yesterday(? my internal clock is weird) (I'm getting my next associate degree in December) and am going to a 4-year university in August to work on my bachelor and master degrees! (I made a mistake in that letter... I lost track of time writing it that I didn't realize that my graduation was actually going to be in 12 hours at the time when I posted the letter)
(Sorry, I'm not putting the same picture twice on here ;;)
Hmm... With that said though, I'm at a bit of a crossroads though. Even though I'll be focusing on attaining the credentials I need for the career I want, I also want to try pursuing some kind of certification or degree in commercial music soon. Thanks to you and some other people starting a little over a year ago, my passion for pursuing music has been reignited hehe
I joined my school's symphonic choir the start of the school year because I've always liked singing and never got to join choir in high school and I also took an audio engineering class this recent semester. The feedback I got from my professors was really meaningful. My choir professor trusted me enough with reading the music, listening to and focusing on my section, and practicing. My audio engineer professor said that I have a really good ear, especially when it comes to transitions, panning, and focusing on other aspects of a song outside of the melody, and it would be a shame if I didn't try pursuing music in the future.
It's going to get a little sad here, but I had given up on pursuing music, even pursuing music as a hobby until recently in this last year. I used to play violin and I used to be pretty good at it for a few years, but after, a lot of sad, tough events happened in my life and it wore me down and burnt me out. Along with that, I ended up developing a permanent muscle injury on my shoulder too. Playing violin was the only option that I was allowed to have to pursue music until I was an adult and even then, it took me a few years and a lot of therapy sessions to realize that I wasn't bound by that limitation anymore.
I think what motivated me to join choir and take that audio engineering class was being able to hear you live in April last year in Fresno. When I heard you singing live, I was blown away. Your vocal resonance in the low and mid vocal range, your vocal agility, and how you project your voice out captured my heart. I can never reach the same skill level you're at with the amount of time I dedicate towards practicing singing, but I wanted to try to get as close to that level as possible.
From there, I signed up for a vocal placement for my school's symphonic choir and then I registered myself into an audio engineering class because I wanted to learn how to mix and master for when I decide to record covers and post them. (Also, I was feeling kind of spiteful towards my ex for saying that the choir professor isn't that good just because they didn't know who the professor was, but that's a whole other story for another time.)
Going back to what I was saying earlier about how I wanted to pursue a certification or degree in commercial music soon though, I know I can't pursue it in this upcoming school year because of other things going on in my life, but I want to pursue it at some point. I'm just trying to decide if I should pursue it next year or the year after next year. In the distant-but-also-not-so-distant future, I have to do clinical hours required for the credentials of the career I'm pursuing, so I want to be able to do it before that time comes.
Hopefully I'll have figured out an answer for myself by the time you see this letter. From what I hear from my friends, it's hard to estimate when that'll happen ㅋㅋㅋ I would really appreciate some words of advice or how long you think I should hold out pursuing commercial music if you do end up reading this letter, but don't feel pressured to reply. Knowing myself, I'll eventually figure out an answer. The only unknown is how long it'll take me ㅎㅎ ;;
Anyways, if you've managed to get through my whole letter, thank you for reading ;; I hope today and the rest of the week goes well for you and the other guys <3
From a small forget-me-not,
Sahasawaddy
