TITLE-SERIES-GRADE: Mail and File Clerk, KGS-0305-04
SALARY RANGE: KGS-04: 15,370 – 21,957 Won per Hour (Total hourly compensation when bonuses are included)
OPENING PERIOD: 2 December 2021 – 10 December 2021
DUTY LOCATION: S-1, Commander Marine Corps Installation Pacific, Camp Mujuk, Pohang, Korea
TOUR OF DUTY: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All current USFK KN employees (Korea-wide)
NOTE: Full performance level KGS-04.
Applicant must possess a ROK driver’s license (2nd Class normal-type) and be able to obtain and maintain a Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) driver’s license
As mandated by Executive Order 14043, USFK Korean employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee’s duty station or work arrangement (e.g., telework, long-term TDY, etc.), subject to exemptions as approved by proper authorities of the USFK. If selected, you will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and submit documentation of proof of vaccination by November 22, 2021 or before appointment, if after November 22, 2021. Employees will be considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 two weeks after they have received the requisite number of dose(s) of a COVID-19 vaccine. Upon selection, Civilian Human Resources Office will provide additional information regarding what information or documentation will be needed and how you can request of the hiring agency a required exemption from this requirement.
Relocation Allowance will NOT be authorized for the selectee from outside the commuting area.
MAJOR DUTIES
Performs work consisting of a combination of tasks from duties 1 and 2.
1. Mail Work. a. Reads, sorts and distributes mail according to subject-matter, content and functional responsibilities of few organizational units. b. Maintains suspense control on designated types of mail requiring special handling and priority attention over routine mail. Follows-up to assure reply by required date. c. Inspects outgoing mail for completeness and readiness for dispatch; pulls file and information copies; envelopes and seals mail. d. Maintains a directory or locator file system by name, location and forwarding address; renders directory service for mail from this system.
2. File Work. a. Arranges, files, or withdraws material according to an established filing system of some complexity requiring recognition of pertinent but clear-cut details (for example, an extensive name of numerical file where identification must be established by date of birth, serial number, or other specified information; simple subject-matter files where subdivisions of major groupings are determined by file clerk). b. Furnishes information from files and performs routine search of records when the search is limited to a few designated places within the files or readily identified locations outside the files unit. c. Indexes or cross-indexes material as required by established procedures, including a brief summary of the material for identification purposes. Additional some duties and tasks performed may overlap such as preparation of naval correspondence and maintaining files and directives. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
a. EXPERIENCE
One year of general experience.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Progressively responsible work which indicates ability to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
Successfully completed education of two years above the high school level in a ROKG authorized or recognized college, university may be substituted for the experience required at grade KGS-4.
b. ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPENTENCY: 1. The American Language Course Placement Test (ALCPT) score of 60% is required. 2. The passing score of former English Language proficiency Test ("B" series) may be substituted for ALCPT requirement. 3. The TOEFL score of 450 (or 133 on the computer based test, 45 on IBT TOEFL) or TOEIC score of 550 may be substituted for ALCPT requirement. Applicants indicate the TOEFL/TOEIC score on the application (item #17) and must submit official copies of the test score. TOEFL and TOEIC scores are valid for two years from the exam date. Within 3 workdays of notification of tentative selection the selected individual must provide one of the above documentation. Failure to provide this information will result in the applicant being considered not qualified.

Applications that are not completed correctly, received after the closing date, or submitted without legible supporting documents will not be processed. All documentation written in Hangul must be translated into the English language and translation submitted along with an application. Such material may be destroyed and will not be returned to the applicant.
