“What is your favorite thing about your little sister?”
“She’s cute."
“Where are you going with your drinks?”
“We are going to the gym to lose weight, but in order to replenish fluids we are first drinking these.”
“Why don’t you eat after you work out?”
“After we finish, we eat right away.”
“That works out alright for you?”
“I think we are getting fatter. We failed.”
"I’m on vacation from the army right now. I have 143 days left until I’m discharged."
"Are you interested in unique fashion?"
"When I was in elementary school my mother always bought green clothes for me; my nickname was ‘Greeny’. I finally got to buy my own clothes in middle school; the nature of fashion is really interesting. After that I started making my own clothes and did my own styling. I think I’m on the pathway to fashion."
“It’s been 10 years since we first met, and now we’re getting married. We didn’t want to have just a normal wedding; we wanted to show people how we love each other and what we think about each other. So, we opened up an exhibit filled with the pictures of our relationship. This exhibit is both the debut of our amateur photography and our wedding ceremony.”
“Your bird doesn’t fly away?”
“No. He lives with me in the store. Sometimes he gets pouty, but he always comes back.”
“One day some guy came in alone to my chocolate shop and wanted me to write 'will you be my girlfriend?' on the chocolate. Right after I made it he immediately brought a girl in and said ‘tada’ and tore into the chocolate right away.”
“I’ve never tried growing a beard before in my life. However, when I visited a department store in Germany after I retired, I noticed the clerk was growing a beard. Wow, I thought I should also try that, so I grew one as well. Then, whoa, my wife and kids both said it looked alright.”
“I’m always giving my granddaughter piggyback rides because I live elsewhere and don’t get a chance to see her often.”
“He has been wandering around all day; he’s feeling tired.”
"We are studying fashion; we make our own clothes and even go on school excursions to photograph them. Because of this, we have become close friends. We have the same taste in fashion, so it makes sense, right?"
“What is the saddest moment of my life? Every time I fall down, I realize I’m about to fall but, each time I can never stop it from happening. Strangely enough, time goes so slowly at times like that. Falling down when you know it’s going to happen is the saddest thing for me.”
"Do I look like Captain America? But I can't show my face to the public."
Captain Korea is busy taking care of his family.
“People often ask me what I do here at Cheonggyecheon. Since when has reading a book at a place with good atmosphere looked strange?”
"(Woman) We are on our way to meet my in-laws; we heard if you wear a hanbok to Deoksu Palace you can get in for free so we stopped by for a bit. I figured since I’m wearing a hanbok already why not try and go. However, we kind of look like we work for the palace. Older people have told us we look nice. Chinese tourists have come up to us and asked us to take pictures with them. Even Japanese people have told us 'Kawaii'"
“(Man) They’re saying that to me, right?”
“We have started to send more SNS messages than handwritten letters so we have started this event. Looking around, there are more children writing handwritten letters to their moms than we thought there would be. It’s good because you can start to see the children’s pureness peep out. I think this is a better way for regular SNS users to express their true selves.”
“I am an elementary school student.”
“What would you say if you could give some advice to kindergarteners for Parents Day?”
“It’s never too late to listen to your parents and don’t throw any tantrums.”
“What is the happiest moment of your life?”
“I have a pile of soju bottles in my fridge that I drink alone at home. That makes me happiest. However, my friends look at me mournfully when I drink at home alone, whereas I really am actually happy.”

“You want to interview me? I’m a bit old so I can’t…”
“But you look young.”
“Age is only a number, but lately my back and knees have started to hurt…”
“What do you like the best about your younger sister?”
“It’s nice that she’s always willing to play with me.”

“She’s a recluse, so every day I need to take her out. She lives in Seoul, yet this is her first time coming out to a place like this. She likes things like reptiles and bugs, so we came here with an alligator stuffed animal as well. Hey! Why do you keep hiding? By the way, she’s particularly good at catching flies.”
“I have been volunteering at Cheonggyecheon introducing Korean history to tourists since 2006, the year I retired from my job”
“Why did you you decide to start volunteering?”
“In my old age I wanted to do something that had real meaning to it.”
"What has been the most impressive thing for you during your time in Korea?"
“I’m from Latvia. I met my Korean boyfriend in London, so he brought me here. I found that Koreans are pretty much the same as Latvians. Like Latvians, people here are conservative with their own good values; I love the conservative.”
“What was the happiest moment in my life? What a difficult question. Can I email you my answer at home? I can’t think of anything right now..”
“I should live life to the fullest, but I sometimes drink and lazily play around. Then, my parents really scold me and tell me to get my game together. Even when I get scolded a lot like that though, I still didn’t change anything. I know I should too; however, I still really like to go out and play so I can’t do as I should. I’m really a kid so…”
“What has been the most difficult thing for you in your life?”
“I got really sick and needed to be hospitalized for a long time. Since I was hospitalized for so long I had gotten really weak. It began to feel strange when other people did not treat me as a weak and shabby person. Then one day my parents came and said, 'Never worry too much. We will always take care of you’. Even now, I can remember those words so clearly. I’ve never had more helpful words than that.”
“All of the men around me have only recommended big cameras to me. I understand their thinking, but this was my favorite one in the store. Hey, photographer, you understand, right?”
“What are you doing in the center of Seoul?”
“I’m a tourist from San Francisco, and I’m doing tai chi here. I’m going to absorb Seoul’s energy.”
“I’ve been taking an adult class for photography for the past 4 years. I came here because lately I’ve been wanting to take extensive pictures of the top five palaces in Seoul. I thought the backlighting would be pretty, so I came here just at the right time in the evening.”
“Today is Monday so isn’t Deoksu Palace closed?”
“Oh, really?”
“We are 17 year old high school students.”
“Is there any time in your life you wish you could go back to?”
“One year ago. Middle school and high school are so different. We have to go to school so early, go to a mandatory afterschool study class, and the tests are difficult. It was good when we just needed to cram for exams. Actually, right now we are playing hooky from our afterschool study class. Ah, we shouldn’t be doing this..”
(Old woman) “I met him when I was singing; he’s quite unique. He is playing everything from memory. Whenever we go out wearing hanboks and sing together, many people say we look good and take our picture. It would be nice if you could send us our picture later; we just live in Jungro.”
(Old man) “Hey, we don’t need this picture. Every day someone is taking our picture; this is just one of many..”
“I’m 85 years old. I was a teacher at an elementary school in Namwon, Jeolla-do, and then I came to Seoul.”
“Are there any pupils that you especially remember?”
“There were in the past. However, those students have one by one passed away, so I don’t feel like remembering. I’ve never experienced anything as sad as that. They are eternally children to me.”
“While I’m performing on the street, sometimes b-boys come and start dancing. Even ordinary people dance at times as well. One time when I was performing, some disabled people in their wheel chairs came up to me and listened to my music. Suddenly they stood up from their wheelchairs and started dancing.”
“If you look at people you will see we are really naïve .”
“Naïve?”
“Humans are tremendous creatures, but we just live taking what is given and doing as we are told. Since we live without thinking, we created a dog eat dog world for nothing speical or big. Try taking a look at us in the universe.”
