2as conjunction 단어, 구, 절을 연결해주는 접속사로 쓰인 경우
1 a — used to make comparisons; 비교에 씀
▪ The fabric was soft as silk. [=the softness of the fabric was like the softness of silk] — usually used in the phrase as…as 보통 as + 형, 부 + as + 단어, 구, 절 형태로 쓰이나 as + 단어 만으로도 쓰임
▪ The fabric was as soft as silk.
▪ He is every bit as clever as she (is). 앞에온 as 는 전치사 뒤에 온 as 는 접속사 + 완전한 문장이 오나 주로 생략됨
▪ There are as many books here as (there are) there.
▪ That was as delicious a meal as your last one (was). = That was a meal as delicious as your last one (was).
▪ as hard as a rock [=very hard]
▪ as clear as crystal [=completely clear]
▪ as white as snow [=snow-white, pure white]
b — used in the phrase as…as to say when something should be done, how often something should happen, etc.
▪ Come back as often as you like.
▪ If you're going to look for a new job, you should do it /as soon/early/quickly /as possible.
2 a : in the way that 그 방식으로/그렇게/그처럼
▪ The letter “k” is sometimes silent, as it is in “knee.”
▪ In the word “macho” the “ch” should be pronounced as (it is) in “China,” not as (it is) in “Chicago.”

▪ He is a foreigner, as is evident from his accent.
▪ It rained that day, as often happens.

▪ He works in the same building /as my brother. [=he and my brother work in the same building]

4 : regardless of the degree to which : though 비록. ~ 임에도 불구하고

7 — used with so or such/ to indicate the result or effect of something* so/such 와 같이 쓰여 결과나 영향을 지칭함

4 ◊The phrase as if is sometimes used informally as an interjection to say that something suggested or claimed is impossible or very unlikely. 감탄사로 그게 가능한가/될까
▪ “He thinks you like him.” “As if!” [=I don't like him at all; there is no chance that I would like him]
