Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one with whom I am pleased, Upon whom I have put my spirit; he
shall bring forth justice to the nations,
Ecco il mio servo che io sostengo,
il mio eletto di cui mi compiaccio.
Ho posto il mio spirito su di lui;
Ecce servus meus, suscipiam eum;
electus meus, complacet sibi in illo anima mea;
dedi spiritum meum super eum,
iudicium gentibus proferet.
Not crying out, not shouting, not making his voice heard in the street.
A bruised reed he shall not break, and a smoldering wick he shall not quench,
non spezzerà una canna incrinata,
non spegnerà uno stoppino dalla fiamma smorta.
Proclamerà il diritto con fermezza;
et linum fumigans non exstinguet;
in veritatem proferet iudicium
Until he establishes justice on the earth; the coastlands will wait for his teaching.
non verrà meno e non si abbatterà,
finché non avrà stabilito il diritto sulla terra;
donec ponat in terra iudicium;
et legem eius insulae exspectant.
I, the LORD, have called you for the victory of justice, I have grasped you by the hand; I formed you, and set you
as a covenant of the people, a light for the nations,
e ti ho preso per mano;
ti ho formato e stabilito come alleanza del popolo
et apprehendi manum tuam;
et formavi te et dedi te
in foedus populi, in lucem gentium,
To open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement, and from the dungeon, those who live in
darkness.
de domo carceris sedentes in tenebris.
All you who are thirsty, come to the water! You who have no money, come, receive grain and eat; Come, without
paying and without cost, drink wine and milk!
O voi tutti assetati venite all'acqua,
chi non ha denaro venga ugualmente;
comprate e mangiate senza denaro
e, senza spesa, vino e latte.
Heu! Omnes sitientes, venite ad aquas;
et, qui non habetis argentum, properate,
emite et comedite, venite, emite absque argento
et absque ulla commutatione vinum et lac.
Why spend your money for what is not bread; your wages for what fails to satisfy? Heed me, and you shall eat
well, you shall delight in rich fare.
Audite, audientes me, et comedite bonum,
ut delectetur in crassitudine anima vestra.
Come to me heedfully, listen, that you may have life. I will renew with you the everlasting covenant, the benefits
assured to David.
Porgete l'orecchio e venite a me,
ascoltate e voi vivrete.
Io stabilirò per voi un'alleanza eterna,
i favori assicurati a Davide.
Inclinate aurem vestram et venite ad me;
audite, ut vivat anima vestra,
et feriam vobiscum pactum sempiternum,
misericordias David fideles.
As I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander of nations,
Ecco l'ho costituito testimonio fra i popoli,
principe e sovrano sulle nazioni.
Vae genti peccatrici,
populo gravi iniquitate,
Ecce testem populis dedi eum,
ducem ac praeceptorem gentibus.
So shall you summon a nation you knew not, and nations that knew you not shall run to you, Because of the
LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, who has glorified you.
Ecco tu chiamerai gente che non conoscevi;
Seek the LORD while he may be found, call him while he is near.
Quaerite Dominum, dum inveniri potest;
invocate eum, dum prope est.
Let the scoundrel forsake his way, and the wicked man his thoughts; Let him turn to the LORD for mercy; to our
God, who is generous in forgiving.
L'empio abbandoni la sua via
e l'uomo iniquo i suoi pensieri;
Derelinquat impius viam suam,
et vir iniquus cogitationes suas;
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD.
As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your
thoughts.
Quanto il cielo sovrasta la terra,
tanto le mie vie sovrastano le vostre vie,
i miei pensieri sovrastano i vostri pensieri.
Quia sicut exaltantur caeli a terra,
sic exaltatae sunt viae meae a viis vestris,
et cogitationes meae a cogitationibus vestris.
For just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down And do not return there till they have watered the
earth, making it fertile and fruitful, Giving seed to him who sows and bread to him who eats,
Come infatti la pioggia e la neve
scendono dal cielo e non vi ritornano
senza avere irrigato la terra,
senza averla fecondata e fatta germogliare,
fécondée et l’avoir fait germer, donnant la semence au semeur et le pain à celui qui doit manger ;
So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to me void, but shall do my will,
achieving the end for which I sent it.
così sarà della parola
uscita dalla mia bocca:
non ritornerà a me senza effetto,
Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God.
"Consolate, consolate il mio popolo,
dice il vostro Dio.
Consolez, consolez mon peuple, – dit votre Dieu –
Consolamini, consolamini populum meum,
dicit Deus vester.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her service is at an end, her guilt is expiated; Indeed, she
has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.
Parlate al cuore di Gerusalemme
e gridatele
expiata est iniquitas illius;
suscepit de manu Domini
duplicia pro omnibus peccatis suis.
A voice cries out: In the desert prepare the way of the LORD! Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our
God!
Vox clamantis:
“ In deserto parate viam Domini,
rectas facite in solitudine
semitas Dei nostri.
Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low; The rugged land shall be made a plain,
the rough country, a broad valley.
Ogni valle sia colmata,
ogni monte e colle siano abbassati;
il terreno accidentato si trasformi in piano
e quello scosceso in pianura.
Omnis vallis exaltetur,
et omnis mons et collis humilietur;
et fiant prava in directa,
et aspera in plana:
Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all mankind shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD
has spoken.
Go up onto a high mountain, Zion, herald of glad tidings; Cry out at the top of your voice, Jerusalem, herald of
good news! Fear not to cry out and say to the cities of Judah: Here is your God!
Sali su un alto monte,
tu che rechi liete notizie in Sion;
alza la voce con forza,
tu che rechi liete notizie in Gerusalemme.
Alza la voce, non temere;
Super montem excelsum ascende,
tu, quae evangelizas Sion;
exalta in fortitudine vocem tuam,
quae evangelizas Ierusalem;
exalta, noli timere;
dic civitatibus Iudae:
“ Ecce Deus vester,
Here comes with power the Lord GOD, who rules by his strong arm; Here is his reward with him, his recompense
before him.
Ecco, il Signore Dio viene con potenza,
con il braccio egli detiene il dominio.
Ecco, egli ha con sé il premio
e i suoi trofei lo precedono.
ecce Dominus Deus in virtute venit,
et brachium eius dominatur:
ecce merces eius cum eo,
et praemium illius coram illo.
Like a shepherd he feeds his flock; in his arms he gathers the lambs, Carrying them in his bosom, and leading
the ewes with care.
Come un pastore egli fa pascolare il gregge
e con il suo braccio lo raduna;
Sicut pastor gregem suum pascit,
in brachio suo congregat agnos
et in sinu suo levat;
fetas ipse portat ”.
Then Peter proceeded to speak and said, "In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.
Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly is acceptable to him.
You know the word (that) he sent to the Israelites as he proclaimed peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of
all,
what has happened all over Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached,
predicato da Giovanni;
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the holy Spirit and power. He went about doing good and healing all
those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
omnes oppressos a Diabolo, quoniam Deus erat cum illo.
For the grace of God has appeared, saving all
and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this
age,
as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ,
Cristo;
exspectantes beatam spem et adventum gloriae magni Dei et salvatoris nostri Iesu Christi;
who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager
to do what is good.
appartenga, zelante nelle opere buone.
But when the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared,
not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of
rebirth and renewal by the holy Spirit,
whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior,
quem effudit super nos abunde per Iesum Christum salvatorem nostrum,
so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.
ut iustificati gratia ipsius heredes simus secundum spem vitae aeternae.
Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.
John tried to prevent him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and yet you are coming to me?"
me?".
moi ! »
Ioannes autem prohibebat eum dicens: “ Ego a te debeo baptizari, et tu venis ad me? ”.
Jesus said to him in reply, "Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed
him.
After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened (for him), and he
saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove (and) coming upon him.
And a voice came from the heavens, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
And this is what he proclaimed: "One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen
the thongs of his sandals.
Et praedicabat dicens: “ Venit fortior me post me, cuius non sum dignus procumbens solvere corrigiam
calceamentorum eius.
I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the holy Spirit."
Ego baptizavi vos aqua; ille vero baptizabit vos in Spiritu Sancto ”.
It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.
On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending
upon him.
E, uscendo dall'acqua, vide aprirsi i cieli e lo Spirito discendere su di lui come una colomba.
colombe.
Et statim ascendens de aqua vidit apertos caelos et Spiritum tamquam columbam descendentem in ipsum;
And a voice came from the heavens, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."
Now the people were filled with expectation, and all were asking in their hearts whether John might be the
Messiah.

John answered them all, saying, "I am baptizing you with water, but one mightier than I is coming. I am not
worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals. He will baptize you with the holy Spirit and fire.
feu.
respondit Ioannes dicens omnibus: “ Ego quidem aqua baptizo vos. Venit autem fortior me, cuius non sum

Thus says the LORD:
Here is my servant whom I uphold,
my chosen one with whom I am pleased,
upon whom I have put my spirit;
he shall bring forth justice to the nations,
not crying out, not shouting,
not making his voice heard in the street.
a bruised reed he shall not break,
and a smoldering wick he shall not quench,
until he establishes justice on the earth;
the coastlands will wait for his teaching.
I, the LORD, have called you for the victory of justice,
I have grasped you by the hand;
I formed you, and set you
as a covenant of the people,
a light for the nations,
to open the eyes of the blind,
to bring out prisoners from confinement,
and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.
Così dice il Signore:
«Ecco il mio servo che io sostengo,
il mio eletto di cui mi compiaccio.
Ho posto il mio spirito su di lui;
non spegnerà uno stoppino dalla fiamma smorta;
e ti ho preso per mano;
ti ho formato e ti ho stabilito
come alleanza del popolo
e luce delle nazioni,
perché tu apra gli occhi ai ciechi
e faccia uscire dal carcere i prigionieri,
dalla reclusione coloro che abitano nelle tenebre».
Ainsi parle le Seigneur :
« Voici mon serviteur que je soutiens,
mon élu qui a toute ma faveur.
J’ai fait reposer sur lui mon esprit ;
Moi, le Seigneur, je t’ai appelé selon la justice ;
Thus says the LORD:
All you who are thirsty,
come to the water!
You who have no money,
come, receive grain and eat;
come, without paying and without cost,
drink wine and milk!
Why spend your money for what is not bread,
your wages for what fails to satisfy?
Heed me, and you shall eat well,
you shall delight in rich fare.
Come to me heedfully,
listen, that you may have life.
I will renew with you the everlasting covenant,
the benefits assured to David.
As I made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander of nations,
so shall you summon a nation you knew not,
and nations that knew you not shall run to you,
because of the LORD, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, who has glorified you.
Seek the LORD while he may be found,
call him while he is near.
Let the scoundrel forsake his way,
and the wicked man his thoughts;
let him turn to the LORD for mercy;
to our God, who is generous in forgiving.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD.
As high as the heavens are above the earth
so high are my ways above your ways
and my thoughts above your thoughts.
For just as from the heavens
the rain and snow come down
and do not return there
till they have watered the earth,
making it fertile and fruitful,
giving seed to the one who sows
and bread to the one who eats,
so shall my word be
that goes forth from my mouth;
my word shall not return to me void,
but shall do my will,
achieving the end for which I sent it.
Così dice il Signore: «O voi tutti assetati, venite all'acqua, voi che
non avete denaro, venite; comprate e mangiate; venite, comprate
senza denaro, senza pagare, vino e latte.
Su, ascoltatemi e mangerete cose buone e gusterete cibi succulenti.
Porgete l'orecchio e venite a me, ascoltate e vivrete.
Ecco, l'ho costituito testimone fra i popoli, principe e sovrano sulle
nazioni.
vie, i miei pensieri sovrastano i vostri pensieri.
Toi, tu appelleras une nation inconnue de toi ;
Cherchez le Seigneur tant qu’il se laisse trouver ;
invoquez-le tant qu’il est proche.
Que le méchant abandonne son chemin,
et l’homme perfide, ses pensées !
Qu’il revienne vers le Seigneur
qui lui montrera sa miséricorde,
vers notre Dieu
et le pain à celui qui doit manger ;
Comfort, give comfort to my people,
says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her
that her service is at an end,
her guilt is expiated;
indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD
double for all her sins.
A voice cries out:
In the desert prepare the way of the LORD!
Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God!
Every valley shall be filled in,
every mountain and hill shall be made low;
the rugged land shall be made a plain,
the rough country, a broad valley.
Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed,
and all people shall see it together;
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
Go up on to a high mountain,
Zion, herald of glad tidings;
cry out at the top of your voice,
Jerusalem, herald of good news!
Fear not to cry out
and say to the cities of Judah:
Here is your God!
Here comes with power
the Lord GOD,
who rules by a strong arm;
here is his reward with him,
his recompense before him.
Like a shepherd he feeds his flock;
in his arms he gathers the lambs,
carrying them in his bosom,
and leading the ewes with care.
ogni monte e ogni colle siano abbassati;
il terreno accidentato si trasformi in piano
e quello scosceso in vallata.
Allora si rivelerà la gloria del Signore
e tutti gli uomini insieme la vedranno,
perché la bocca del Signore ha parlato».
Sali su un alto monte,
tu che annunci liete notizie a Sion!
Alza la tua voce con forza,
tu che annunci liete notizie a Gerusalemme.
Alza la voce, non temere;
e con il suo braccio lo raduna;
porta gli agnellini sul petto
e conduce dolcemente le pecore madri».
Consolez, consolez mon peuple,
« Dans le désert, préparez le chemin du Seigneur ;
tracez droit, dans les terres arides,
une route pour notre Dieu.
Que tout ravin soit comblé,
toute montagne et toute colline abaissées !
que les escarpements se changent en plaine,
et les sommets, en large vallée !
Alors se révélera la gloire du Seigneur,
et tout être de chair verra
que la bouche du Seigneur a parlé. »
« Voici votre Dieu ! »
Voici le Seigneur Dieu !
Il vient avec puissance ;

Peter proceeded to speak to those gathered
in the house of Cornelius, saying:
“In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.
Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly
is acceptable to him.
You know the word that he sent to the Israelites
as he proclaimed peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all,
what has happened all over Judea,
beginning in Galilee after the baptism
that John preached,
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Spirit and power.
He went about doing good
and healing all those oppressed by the devil,
for God was with him.”

Beloved:
The grace of God has appeared, saving all
and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires
and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age,
as we await the blessed hope,
the appearance of the glory of our great God
and savior Jesus Christ,
who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness
and to cleanse for himself a people as his own,
eager to do what is good.
When the kindness and generous love
of God our savior appeared,
not because of any righteous deeds we had done
but because of his mercy,
He saved us through the bath of rebirth
and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
whom he richly poured out on us
through Jesus Christ our savior,
so that we might be justified by his grace
and become heirs in hope of eternal life.
Lorsque Dieu, notre Sauveur,
Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan
to be baptized by him.
John tried to prevent him, saying,
“I need to be baptized by you,
and yet you are coming to me?”
Jesus said to him in reply,
“Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us
to fulfill all righteousness.”
Then he allowed him.
After Jesus was baptized,
he came up from the water and behold,
the heavens were opened for him,
and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove
and coming upon him.
And a voice came from the heavens, saying,
“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
***********
This is what John the Baptist proclaimed:
“One mightier than I is coming after me.
I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.
I have baptized you with water;
he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee
and was baptized in the Jordan by John.
On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open
and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him.
And a voice came from the heavens,
“You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
celui qui est plus fort que moi ;
Moi, je vous ai baptisés avec de l’eau ;
lui vous baptisera dans l’Esprit Saint. »
« Tu es mon Fils bien-aimé ;
en toi, je trouve ma joie. »
The people were filled with expectation,
and all were asking in their hearts
whether John might be the Christ.
John answered them all, saying,
“I am baptizing you with water,
but one mightier than I is coming.
I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
After all the people had been baptized
and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying,
heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him
in bodily form like a dove.
And a voice came from heaven,
“You are my beloved Son;
with you I am well pleased.”
sandali. Egli vi battezzerà in Spirito Santo e fuoco».
« Moi, je vous baptise avec de l’eau ;
« Toi, tu es mon Fils bien-aimé ;
en toi, je trouve ma joie. »
