1 One day 한날 at three o’clock 3시 in the afternoon 오후에,
a customary time 관례적인 시간인 for daily prayer 매일의 기도에 관련한,
Peter 베드로와 and John 요한이 walked 걸어갔다 to the temple 성전으로.

* 주어인 명사구 a man /lame from birth 명+형용사구
* 후치 수식인 형용사구 (being) lame from birth 형+부/전구 ; 구로 구성된 형용사구는 후치 수식으로 쓰이며
* 수동진행 구조 be+being+pp ; was being carried in.

2 Some people 어떤 이들이 were carrying in 들고 들어왔다 a man 한 사람을 who 그 사람 had been paralyzed 마비된
since birth 출생 때부터. Every day 매일 they 그들은 brought 데려왔다 him 그를 to a place 한 장소로
near the beautiful gate 미문 가까이 (one 한 문 of the temple entrances 성전 입구의)
so 그래서 he 그가 could beg 구걸할 수 있도록 for money 돈을 위해 from people 사람들로부터 entering 들어가는
to worship 경배하려.
* 형역 분사구 entering to worship 현분사의 능동 주체인 people 수식
* 부역 부정사구 to worship
* paralysed(영), paralyzed (미) : 1. unable to move or act:
* 영/미의 발음이나 철자 차이는 우리가 한글에 침투한 일본어를 지우려 애썼듯
3 When he saw [Peter and John /about to enter], he asked them /for some money.
3 When 그때 he 그가 saw 보았을 때 Peter 베드로와 and John 요한을 about to enter 막 들어서려 하는,
he 그는 asked 요청했다 them 그들에게 for some money 돈 좀 달라고.
* 전치사 for를 동사 수식의 particle 소사 역할로 본다면 4 형식 구조가 됨 asked [them] for [some money]
asked for [some money] 돈을 요청하다는 타동사구+목적 3 형식 문장에 간접 목적어인 [them]이 추가된 구조로 봄
* VOICE
3 He 그는 saw 보았고 Peter 베드로와 and John 요한이 coming 들어오는 걸
and asked 요청했다 them 그들에게 for a contribution 기부를.
4 Peter and John looked at [him] /intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!”
4 Peter 베드로와 and John 요한이 looked at 쳐다보았고 him 그를 intently 집중하여,
and Peter 베드로가 said 말했다, “Look at 쳐다보라 us 우리를!”
* 타동사구 LOOK AT (phrasal verb): move eyes to see someone or something;
* VOICE
4 Peter 베드로는 gazed 응시했다 intensely 집중적으로 at him 그를—so did John 요한도 그렇게 했다.
* 강조상의 도치문 so did John = John did so
5 The lame man looked at them /eagerly, expecting some money.
5 The lame man 앉은뱅이 상태인 남자는 looked at 쳐다보았다 them 그들을 eagerly 열망적으로,
* 형역 분사구 expecting some money. 현분사의 능동 주체인 man 수식
* 형용사로 쓰인 some : Being an unspecified number or quantity:
* VOICE
5 The man 그 사람은 looked up at 올려다보았다 them 그들을,
assuming 지레짐작하면서 (that)절 내용을 즉 they 그들이 were about to give 줄려고 한다는 것 him 그에게 some money 돈 좀.
* 형역 분사구 assuming (that) they~ 현분사의 능동 주체인 man 수식 (them으로 하면 의미가 달라지고 불통됨)
6 But Peter said, “I don’t have [any silver or gold /for you].
But I’ll give you [what I have].
In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!”
6 But 그러나 Peter 베드로는 said 말했다, “I 나는 don’t have 없다 any 어떤 silver 은이나 or gold 금도 for you 널 위한.
But 그러나 I’ll 나는 give 줄 것이다 you 너에게 what 그것을 I 내가 have 가진.
In the name 이름으로 of Jesus Christ the Nazarene 나사렛 예수 그리스도의, get up 일어나서 and walk 걸으라!”
* 4 형식 give you [what I have].
* 직목인 의문사절 what I have [목]. 의문사=접속사=목적
* 믿음으로 한다고 아무나 붙잡고 베드로를 흉내 내면 기적이 일어나는 건 아니므로 함부로 믿음을 '시험'하면 안 되며
* VOICE
6 Peter 베드로 : I 나는 want 원한다 to give 주기를 you 너에게 something 어떤 것을,
but 그러나 I 나는 don’t have 원하지 않는다 any 어떤 silver 은이나 or gold 금을.
Here’s 여기 제시한다 what 그것을 I 내가 can offer 제공할 수 있는 you 너에게:
stand up 일어나서 and walk 걸으라 in the name 이름으로 of Jesus of Nazareth 나사렛 예수 그리스도의,
* 실질적인 주어인 의문사절 what I can offer you 4 형식 구조 ; I can offer [you] [what]
* get up vs stand up ; get up 일어나서 and walk 걸으라 (연속동작), stand up 일어서고 and walk 걸으라 (별개의 한 동작)
get up out of bed and leave our bed.
When we stand up, we move to a standing position when somebody comes into the room.
7 Then Peter took the lame man /by the right hand and helped him up.
And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened.
7 Then 그러고 나서 Peter 베드로는 took 잡았다 the lame man 앉은뱅이 상태인 남자를 by the right hand 오른손을
and helped 도왔다 him 그가 up 일어나게.
And as he 그가 did 했을 때, the man’s 그 남자의 feet 발과 and ankles 발목이 were instantly 즉시로 healed 치유되고
and strengthened 굳세어졌다.
* by the hand /idiom: by holding someone's hand
* took the lame man /by the right hand '절름발이 남자의 오른손을 잡다'라는 구식 영어 표현이고 현대는
VOICE처럼 took the man’s right hand '남자의 오른손을 잡았다'로 씀
* VOICE
7 Then 그러고 나서 Peter 베드로는 took 잡았고 the man’s right hand 남자의 오른 손을
and lifted 일으켰다 him 그를 to his feet 발로 서게.
Instantly 즉시로 the man’s 그 남자의 feet 발과 and ankles 발목은 grew 되었다 strong 굳세게.
8 He jumped up, stood /on his feet, and began [to walk]!
Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went /into the Temple with them.
8 He 그는 jumped up 벌떡 일어나서, stood 서서 on his feet 그의 발로, and began 시작했다 to walk 발로!
Then 그러고 나서, walking 걷고, leaping 훌쩍 뛰고, and praising 찬양하면서 God 하나님을,
he 그는 went 들어갔다 into the Temple 성전 안으로 with them 그들과 함께.
* 형역 분사구 walking, leaping, and praising 현분사의 능동 주체인 he 수식
* VOICE
8 He 그는 jumped 뛰어오르고 and walked 걸으며, accompanying 동행하면서 Peter 베드로와 and John 요한을
into the temple 성전 안으로
where 거기서 he 그는 walked 걷고, jumped 뛰었다고 for joy 기쁨을 인하여, and shouted 외쳤다 praises 찬양을

* VOICE

* they = crowd, he = beggar
12 Peter saw [his opportunity] and addressed [the crowd].

And why stare at us /as though we had made [this man] [walk by our own power or godliness]?
12 Peter 베드로는 saw 보았고 [his opportunity 그의 기회를] and addressed 설교했다 [the crowd 군중들에게].
“People of Israel 이스라엘 백성들이여,” he 그는 said 말했다,
“what 무엇이 is so 그리도 surprising 놀람을 주느냐 about this 그것에 대한?

* 5 형식 made [this man] [walk by our own power or godliness]
* 목보인 원형 부정사구 [walk by our own power or godliness]
* VOICE
12 Peter 베드로 (to the crowd 군중에게): Why 왜 are you 당신들은 so amazed 그리 놀라느냐,
Why 왜 are you 당신들은 staring at 응시하느냐 my friend 내 친구와 and me 나를
as though 마치 we 우리가 did 했었던 것처럼 this miracle 이 기적을 /through our own 우리 자신의 power 능력을 통하여
or made 만든 것처럼 [this fellow 이 친구가] [walk 걷도록 by our own holiness 우리 자신의 거룩함으로 인해]?
13 For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
—the God of all our ancestors—
who has brought glory /to his servant Jesus /by doing this.
This is the same Jesus //whom you handed over and rejected /before Pilate,
despite Pilate’s decision /to release him.
13 For 왜냐면 it 그것은 is the God 하나님이시기에 of Abraham 아브라함과, Isaac 이삭과, and Jacob 야곱의
—the God 하나님이신 of all our ancestors 우리 모두의 조상들의—
who 그분 has brought 가져오신 glory 영광을 to his servant 그분의 섬김자이신 Jesus 예수님께 by doing this 이일을 하심으로.
This 이 분이 is the same Jesus 같은 예수님이시다 whom 그분 you 너희가 handed over 넘겨주고
and rejected 거부한 before Pilate 빌라도 앞에서,
despite 불구하고 Pilate’s decision 빌라도의 결정에도 to release 방면할 him 그분을.
* 강조구문 it is~ who~
일반문 [the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob] has brought glory /to his servant Jesus /by doing this.

* 전치사 despite ; without being affected by; in spite of.
* 형역 부정사구 ; /to release him.
* 자기들이 개처럼 멸시하는 무법자 이방인 앞에서 자기들의 구원주 메시야를 배반배척한 유대인들처럼
* VOICE
13 We 우리가 didn’t do 하지 않았다 this 이 일을—God 하나님께서 did 하셨다!
The God 그 하나님께서 of Abraham 아브라함의, the God 그 하나님께서 of Isaac 이삭의,
the God 그 하나님께서 of Jacob 야곱의
—the God 그 하나님께서 of our ancestors 우리 조상들의 has glorified 영광스럽게 하셨다 Jesus 예수님을,
God’s servant
—[the same Jesus 똑같은 예수님을 //whom 그분 you 너희가 betrayed 배반하고 and rejected 배척한
/in front of Pilate 빌라도 앞에서],
even though 비록 Pilate 빌라도는 was going to release 방면하려 했지만 Him 그분을.
14 You rejected [this holy, righteous one] and instead demanded [the release of a murderer].
14 You 너희는 rejected 거부했고 this 이러한 holy 거룩하시고, righteous one 의로우신 분을
and instead 대신에 demanded 요구했다 the release 방면을 of a murderer 한 살인자의.

But 그러나 God 하나님께서는 raised 올리셨다/살리셨다 Jesus 예수님을 /from the dead 죽음으로부터,

16 “Through faith in the name of Jesus, this man was healed

16 “Through faith 믿음을 통해서 in the name of Jesus 예수님의 이름으로, this man 이 사람이 was healed 치유되었다

Faith 믿음이 in Jesus’ name 예수님의 이름에 둔 has healed 치유했다 him 그를 before your very eyes 너희의 바로 그 눈앞에서.
* know의 목적인 의문사절 [how crippled he was before] 의문사는 접속사 겸 부사 역할의 대명사임
* 일반문 he was (very crippled) before.
* The phrase “in Jesus’ name” is associated with the authority of Jesus imparted to a person
where that person performs an action as if it were Jesus actually doing it.
* VOICE
16 So 그래서 that’s 그것이 how 그 방법이다 this miracle 이런 기적이 happened 일어난:

* 4 형식 given [this man] [his complete health]
17 “Friends, I realize that [what you and your leaders did to Jesus] was done /in ignorance.

Listen /carefully /to everything () he tells you.’
22 Moses 모세가 said 말했다, ‘The LORD your God 주 너희 하나님께서 will raise up 일으키실 것이다 for you 너희를 위해

* 전목인 동명사구 turning each of you back from your sinful ways
TURN BACK : return the same way that you came; return to previous situation or condition.
