2형식 문장 : 주어 + 불완전자동사 + 주격보어 (S + Vi + SC)
be 동사는 항상 보어를 필요로 하는 동사이고
be 동사가 아닌 일반동사인데 be 동사처럼 보어로 형용사나 명사 또는 부정사/구를 가지는 경우가 있는데
이를 불완전자동사라 한다
영어 나라에서는 linking verb 연결동사라 하여 주어와 보어를 연결하는 역할을 말한다
불완전자동사로 쓰이는 단어들
* seem, look, sound, taste, smell, feel, remain, keep, stand
* become, get, grow, go, come, turn, run, prove, fall, make
be 동사 예문
보어로 명사, 형용사, 부사및 각각의 상당어구가 쓰인다
보어란 주어에 대한 설명을 말한다

He is gloomy. 형용사
The book is of no use to me. 전치사구
My hobby is collecting stamps. 동명사구
He is in his room. 전치사구

The rose smells sweet.
일반동사/타동사로 쓰인 경우
* Her new dress becomes her well. (어울리다) (3형식)
* He turned his back to me. (돌리다) (3형식)
2형식 문장 : 「주어+동사+보어」
「주
어+동사+보어」의 2형식에 쓰인 동사는 불완전자동사로 주어를 설명해 주는 보어를 필요로 한다.
보어로는
명사나 형용사, 부사 또는 각각의 상당어구가 올 수 있다. 2형식의 문장을 구성하는 불완전 자동사에는 다음과 같은
것들이 있다.
명사나 형용사를 보어로 취하는 동사
* be동사
* become (~이 되다)
* He is a doctor. (그는 의사이다.)
* She is beautiful. (그녀는 아름답다.)
* His son will be a scientist. (그의 아들은 과학자가 될 것이다.)
* They became tired. (그들은 지쳤다.)
보충학습 : be동사는 대표적인 불완전 자동사이지만 be동사가 완전 자동사로 쓰이는 경우도 있다.
이때 be동사는 장소나 시간의 부사(구)와 함께 쓰인다.
***요래 한국에서 가르치나 미국에서는 be 동사 + 부사/구 보어 (time/place) 로 구분한다
즉 부사적 요소도 be 동사 뒤에서는 보어로 쓰인다 가르친다
* He is in New York now. (그는 지금 뉴욕에 있다.) < in New York now는 부사구 >
He is where?
* The bank is on Main Street. (은행은 메인가에 있다.) < on Main Street는 부사구 >
* Where is the post office? (우체국은 어디에 있습니까?) < Where는 의문부사 >
* When is your birthday? (당신의 생일은 언제입니까?) < When은 의문부사 >
My birthday is Dec 1. (time)
* There is a bus stop down the road. => A bus stop is down the road.
(도로 아래 쪽에 버스 정류장이 하나 있다.)
이 경우 be 동사는 존재동사로 사용되어 '있다'의 뜻이라 보어가 필요없는 특별한 경우이다
there 는 허사로 의미는 없이 구조상 필요하여 쓴 단어고
진주어는 a bus stop 이다
형용사를 보어로 취하는 불완전자동사
**** 미국에선 보어를 취하는 동사를 연결동사 (linking verb) 라하여
be 동사와 비슷한 기능이라 가르친다
* get (~이 되다)
* grow (점점 ~ 되다)
* look (~하게 보이다)
* seem (~인 것 같다)
* feel (~하게 느끼다)
* smell (~한 냄새가 나다)
* sound (~하게 들리다)
* It’s getting colder. (날씨가 추워지고 있다.)
* We grew tired. (우리는 점점 피곤해졌다.)
* He looks very ill. (그는 몹시 아파 보인다.)
* She seems honest. (그 녀는 정직해 보인다.)
* I feel better today. (오늘은 (건강상태가) 좀더 나은 것 같다.)
* It smells good. (그것은 좋은 냄새가 난다.)
* The music sounds sweet. (아름다운 음악이다.)
* It sounds great. (좋습니다.)
주의 : look나 sound는 「look / sound + like + 명사(전치사구)」의 형태로도 쓰인다.
즉 자동사로 쓰인 동사 뒤에온 수식어는 보어가 아닌 동사 수식어이다
* It looks/ like rain. (비가 올 것 같다.)
* It sounds/ like a good idea. (그것은 좋은 생각인 것 같다.)
* 불자로 쓰인 동사는 동사뒤에 형용사나 명사 또는 부정사가 오는 구조인데
It looks simple.
The dish tastes good.
He seems to misunderstand me.
His dream came true.
He became a great man. (He = a great man) (그는 위인이 되었다.)
He looks happy. (He = happy) (그는 행복해 보인다.)
She seems to be sick. (She = to be sick) (그녀는 아픈 것처럼 보인다.)
be 동사의 경우와 비교
* He is a student.
* I am a boy. ( a boy = 명사 보어)
* I am happy. ( happy = 형용사 보어)
* This is he. ( he = 대명사 보어) 이사람이 그사람 이다
* The Japanese are a hardworking people. (일본인은 근면한 민족이다.)
* My mother looks young /for her age. (우리 어머니는 나이에 비해서 젊어 보인다.)

그런데, get, grow, fall, go, run들이 모두 become과 비슷한 의미라 하지만, 모두
How does she look ?
- She looks happy.
* appear ~ (~처럼 보이다)

* seem to be ~ (~로 보이다:주관적 판단)
Do you think Harry is doing a good job ?
- Harry seems to be successful in his field.
주의 >>> to be를 생략하고 보어만 남겨놓을 수도 있다.
* sound ~ (~처럼 들리다)
How does my idea sound to you ?
- That sounds good to me.
* smell ~ (~한 냄새가 나다)
How does this food smell ?

2) How does it feel ? (감촉이 어때요 ?)
- This cloth feels smooth. (이 천은 감촉이 부드럽군요.)
주의 >>>
위에서 제시한 look부터 feel까지의 동사들도 2형식으로 쓰일 경우에는 자동사(vi)이
기에 절대 수동태로는 쓰일 수 없다. 또한 아래에서처럼 이들 동사가 like와 같이
쓰일 경우가 있는데, ‘like’는 전치사로서 ‘~처럼’의 의미가 된다. (1형식 문장)
1) What's the weather like today ? (오늘 날씨 어때요 ?)

자 이정도로 한국식 불자에 대해 한영합작으로 배웠으니
영어학도 답게 영어로만 영영 영어를 배워보자
영영영어를 자연스레 대할 수 있어야 변사또 억지영어가 아닌 이도령과 춘향이의 멋진 영어 된다
Linking verbs do not express action. 불자는 동작에 관한 얘기가 아니다
Instead, they connect the subject of the verb to additional information about the subject.
불자는 주어와 주어에 관한 세부정보와 연결역할한다
Look at the examples below:
Keila is a shopaholic.
Ising isn't something that Keila can do. 'Is' connects the subject, Keila, to additional information /about her, that she will soon have a huge credit card bill to pay.술꾼이니 술값 갚아야져?
* ising 이라니?!
아 영어현실!
is-ing 이니 is 가 하는일이라는 의미로 작가 임으로 만든말
During the afternoon, my cats are content to nap on the couch.
Areing isn't something that cats can do. 'Are' is connecting the subject, cats, to something/ said /about them, that they enjoy sleeping on the furniture.
* said 는 분사로 형역
After drinking the old milk, Bladimiro turned green.
'Turned' connects the subject, Bladimiro, to something /said/ about him, that he was needing Pepto Bismol.
얼굴이 퍼렇게 됐으니 배탈난거다 배탈에는 배탈약 Pepto Bismol , 먹는건 한식 take 하는건 영어식이다
A ten-item quiz seems impossibly long /after a night of no studying.
Seems connects the subject, a ten-item quiz, with something/ said / about it, that its difficulty depends /on preparation, not length.
Irene always feels sleepy/ after pigging out /on pizza from Antonio's.
Feels connects the subject, Irene, to her state of being, sleepiness.
The following verbs are true linking verbs: any form of the verb be [am, is, are, was, were, has been, are being, might have been, etc.], become, and seem. These true linking verbs are always linking verbs.
불자의 종류로 오로지-불자가 있고 알바-불자가 있는데
오불자는 항상 불자로 쓰이나 알불자는 다기능으로 자동사나 타동사로도 쓰인다하여
영어로 true linking 이라 한거다
*오불자는 ising 처럼 형편상 급조된 작자의 개성있는 표현이니 한귀로듣어 일회용으로 쓰고 다른귀로 내보내면 된다
Then you have a list of verbs /with multiple personalities: appear, feel, grow, look, prove, remain, smell, sound, taste, and turn.
Sometimes these verbs are linking verbs; sometimes they are action verbs.
사람이 multiple personalities 를 가지면 카멜레온 같아 사기성이 농후하나
영어에서는 한단어를 여러기능으로 써서 각 기능상의 단어들을 따로 창출해내지 않아 단어법람을 막아주니 좋다
How do you tell when they are action verbs and when they are linking verbs?
If you can substitute am, is, or are and the sentence still sounds logical, you have a linking verb on your hands.
If, after the substitution, the sentence makes no sense, you are dealing /with an action verb instead.
Here are some examples:
Sylvia tasted the spicy squid eyeball stew.
Sylvia is the stew? I don't think so! Tasted, therefore, is an action verb/ in this sentence, something Sylvia is doing.
The squid eyeball stew tasted good.
The stew is good? You bet. Make your own!
I smell the delicious aroma /of a mushroom and papaya pizza/ baking in the oven.
I am the aroma? No way! Smell, in this sentence, is an action verb, something I am doing.
The mushroom and papaya pizza smells heavenly.
The pizza is heavenly? Definitely! Try a slice!
When my dog Oreo felt the wet grass /beneath her paws, she bolted up the stairs and curled up /on the couch.
Oreo is the wet grass? Of course not! Here, then, felt is an action verb, something Oreo is doing.
My dog Oreo feels depressed /after seven straight days of rain.
Oreo is depressed? Without a doubt! Oreo hates the wet.
This substitution will not work for appear. With appear, you have to analyze the function of the verb.
is 로 대치해서도 말되나 보는 test시험은 아무거나 다 되는건 아니므로 어떤 단어는 동사의 역할을 잘 알아보아야 한다
Swooping out of the clear blue sky, the blue jay appeared /on the branch.
Appear is something a blue jay can do—especially when food is near.
자동사로 쓰인경우 주어가 할 수 있는 동작이다
The blue jay appeared happy/ to see the bird feeder.
Here, appeared is connecting the subject, the blue jay, to its state of mind, happiness.
연결동사로 쓰인경우 주어가 할 수 있는 동작이 아니다
물론 위장으로는 하겠지만 실제로는 아니니 몬하는거다
이 얼매나 쉬운 불자의 설명인가?
Don't you think so?
